All NEW Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 2024 - FIRST LOOK exterior

The new Peugeot 3008 Hybrid brings stylish design and premium tech to the family SUV class. With its sloping coupe-SUV silhouette and futuristic interior, it certainly stands out from the crowd. But does it have the substance to match the style?
Under the bonnet is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a small electric motor. With a combined 136hp, it's no performance SUV, taking over 10 seconds to get from 0-62mph. But with official economy of up to 52.5mpg, running costs should be reasonable.
Inside, the showstopper is the sweeping 21-inch digital dashboard. The high-definition twin screens look fantastic and bring high-end tech to this mid-size SUV. The small steering wheel sits unconventionally low, but allows a clear view of the screens. Cabin quality impresses too, with soft-touch fabrics and ambient lighting, although some scratchy plastics remain.
Space is good thanks to the long wheelbase, with decent room in the back seats and boot. The 520-litre cargo space beats most rivals, if not class-leaders like the Skoda Karoq. The sloped roof does compromise rear headroom slightly and makes bulky items tricky to load, however.
Ride comfort is a strong point, soaking up bumps smoothly despite the big wheels. Handling leans towards comfort over sportiness, with light steering offering little feedback. Refinement is generally good, although the three-cylinder engine thrums loudly under acceleration.
When it comes to driver assistance tech, the 3008 Hybrid misses out on the very latest kit. There's no hands-free driving capability, and adaptive cruise control is optional. Still, auto emergency braking and lane-keeping assist bring essential active safety aids.
While the Peugeot impresses for interior class and technology, it falls behind rivals on practicality and driving dynamics. The hybrid powertrain brings only modest fuel savings over diesel competitors like the Volkswagen Tiguan and Mazda CX-5.
But for buyers wanting style, comfort and premium tech in a mid-size SUV package, few alternatives offer the 3008's flair. It brings a touch of French chic to the school run, even if it won't be the best tow car. Prices start from £32,600, not cheap but less eye-watering than the premium Germans.
