Do not let tawa to be too hot. Lower the flame after you remove cooked dhosa and sprinkle water at that time. Maintaining tawa temperature during dhosa is most important. I experienced it with non stick tawa. I was about to throw the tawa but its working now.
use regularly it gets well with time...........apply oil with onion on fork ...... onions fills in gaps in the oil seasoning and polymerize tawa to create a really strong layer
Sister...cast iron tawa are best instead of nonstick...only thing is you need to set it right....before pouring batter use cut brinjal and put oil on cut side.Apply oil slightly on tawa and then pour corect batter...Cover and cook for best results. Only one side.... perfect for south indian dosaa
We can use cut onion also heat management is important batter preparation is also important one proportion of urad Dall and two proportions of rice ferment moderately over fermentation spoils dosa
I faced these kinds of issues too but my mum taught me to always season the tava with an omelette after the wash. This trick always works for me. Never had a bad day with Dosa's.
Firstly, understand the difference between Cast iron and others. Even if it says Pre seasoned, you have to season it again over 3-4 days with Diluted cooked riice water Soak the entire tawa in it in a large tub after first cleaning it Do this for 2-3 days in fresh ricecwater Then again clean it And finally, smear it with oil on all surfaces- top bottom both, and then dry roast some chana dal, coconut grated by spreading it on all parts of the top surface for few minutes. Discard the roasted stuff Now it's ready to use, after wiping clean the tawa. Do all the above, and then release a video
First of all, your batter is very thin , you need to have slightly thicker. And the first dosa you make after seasoning the pan, just pour half a ladle full of batter, but do not spread it. Let it cook on medium heat and then slowly you can start making bigger Dosas. You cannot fail if you follow these methods.
You need to season it properly... That's why...I have been using it for many years now... it's the best.If you use it multi purpose ..i e for roti, sandwich etc, then just in case dosa batter sticks to it,rub it with half an onion and some sprinkled salt.. Also a little oil before pouring batter each time
In South India, it is more traditional to apply oil with a coir brush (rather than a silicone brush). Alternatively, people also use a "potli" out of cotton cloth to smear oil on Tawa. Commercial oil applicators are also available, looks like a wooden stamp with cloth wrapped around it.

Iron tawa requires the same treatment as cast iron ? I mean the maintenance ...since it's pure iron tawa unlike cast iron which requires seasoning on n off for proper use ...kindly advise
I'm from South Africa 🇿🇦. My tawa is over 100 years old. It belonged to my great grandmother and I also have my mother in laws one. They work perfectly. I also have my granny's kadai/karahi and my mother has a set of pots from india we call it the india dotted pots they all alot better than the stuff u fine in shops now days. Here in S.a almost everything in shops is non stick coated, non stick isn't good for health. I prefer using cast iron and stainless steel
In next dosa also u have to apply oil with the help of Cotton cloth or onion..... Ur dowa tawa is new so it need to absorb oil nicely for perfect dosa .... U shud nt make ur tawa dry ..... Even nonstick pan dosa stick wen we don't apply oil nd wipe

I used to make dosa at normal iron tawa which we use for making roti and the results are as same as it is.. Process is same which is shown in video. So if you don't have this cast iron tawa you can use normal one😊
I have got a tip tried and tested, on freshly washed tava apply oil and spread a pinch of dry wheat flour and then spread dosa . It will never stick. Ni need for flour for next dosa
The best way to use cast iron tava is ,do not use it for making roti or any other thing. Keep it only for making dosa itself. That's my personal experience. 👍 Try this.
Rub a few salt crystals with oil when the tawa is hot ,before pouring the batter...then sprinkle some water&remove the water&allow to reheat before starting to make dosa...a few thick dosas are made before you can get thin crispy dosa
For dosas any very thick tawa works but flame always has to be low, but should not see steem. Tawa was too hot showing steem. That should not be hot. Even this tawa works if it is very thick. First dosa sometimes stuck to the pan but later those seperates automatically.
Instead of using only refind oil we should use ghee in between, say after 2-3 dosas, and after last dosa.before first use season it with oil and onion as said in other comments.smearing with ghee is very healpful.
Apka dosa batter bohot watery hai.. I purchased cast iron tawa two weeks back.. mainly temperature maintain hona zaruri hota hai.. I m super happy with the cast iron tawa as dosa come out very nice.. season it after washing with normal water and wash it with plain water, without using any dishwash liquid..

No, it is not suitable for rotis and parathas ... Due to it's heavy weight it will take too much time to heat and the handle is also not long...you can buy hard ionised roti tawa....
I have been using cast iron tawa no problem for me..apply 2-3 drops of oil everytime you do dosa, (use onion to apply oil) don't wash it when it is too hot apply generous amount of oil allow it to cool then wash it..
Hello Ma'am. You have Explained Everything in detail. Thankyou for that. But you have not said that Cast Iron tawa breaks Sometimes. But pure Iron tawa doesn't Break.

Very helpful video. My dosas were not coming out properly so i have stopped using this. Let's hope that after using your trick I will start using this tawa again. :)
It gets better with time. I am using normal non stick which is very old and non stick coating has worn out but because of daily roti making on our, it has some non stick coating of its own! I make dosa on it. First 1or 2 times, it sticks. Then no sticking. Also if you lots of sooji flour in rawa, it may stick.
Hi Mam, I ordered solimo brand cast iron tawa it has some small holes on the cooking surface and it does not look that smooth. Are small holes (4-5) on the surface fine? Please reply
I bght same Tawa online from Amazon.. same brand.. but I seasoned it my way .. instead of heating on flame I kept in sunlight.. secondly you should not wash Tawa completely with detergent soap.. it should be kept little oily ..
Hi, Thanks for the video ..i bought this tava two days before. I have done seasoning as per your video instructions. I am getting one problem, my dosa is crispy but not from all sides. It is roasted in center but corners are not roast properly. Can you suggest something what I left?
Move the tawa around the fire. May be your flame is small according to the size of pan...for better result you can check my new video🙏 thanks you ua-cam.com/video/f_3svHm5-8c/v-deo.html
Hi batter has to be little thick, one trick is cut onion into half add 3 drops of onion rub for 30 sec and apply dosa batter ,it comes very easily u find it easy
Hannn use to karhi sakte hain..per ye daily use me thodi apko pareshani de sakta hai kyunki ye bahut heavy tawa hai ....sath hi me garam hone me bhi kafi time lagta hai...lekin roti achi banegi😉😉
@@pratimapankar3635 pouring oil is not required, just dip half cut onion in the oil spread over the tawa before pouring dosa.first two days u have to season it by applying oil and heat the tawa and cool it . This for two days.
I have the same tawa and have been using it for the past 2 years. It does a wonderful job with making dosas. U just have to pre-season it for the first time, initially 2-3 dosas even I had the same experience as mentioned here but after that no problem at all. Most important don't wash it often with strong liquid soaps, dilute it before using
One more thing I forgot to mention, u don't have to wash it with plain water after every use as the product instructions suggest, I just wipe the excess oil and any tiny bits stuck to the tawa after preparing dosas with a piece of dry clean cloth and store it away in a place away from moisture until next use
Explained so well and same thing happened with me too initially with Vinod cast iron tawa. One more thing it not gives good results on low flame for roti or parantha’s. Need to flame so high, than only it cooks well. Is it same with everyone and sometimes cheela or dosa become so dark in center too even on low flame.why is it? Plz if someone can help me out😊
First u can use vegetable peel add oil on the tava and fry the vegetable peel to season it. Do not use soap u can use a cut potato and salt rub the tawa with the potato all the dirt will come out. As said in the video u so not need 5 to 6 hours to season this.
When dosa stick to tawa don't remove it with spoon as you did in video.....let tawa cool down completely ... Dosa will get removed automatically once tawa is cooled....and don't put water in tawa to cool down ...just switch off gas....
I use cast iron griddle all the time and I have made them non stick. The process is simple. After first wash with soap, to get rid of germs etc, never wash your griddle or tawa with soap. Never ever. Only wash with hot water and a steel scrubber. Now comes seasing part. How do you make cast iron pots and pans non stick. Use a high smoke point oil like flaxseed oil or Avocado oil. Apply with a clean cloth or paper towel generously. Make sure it is not dripping. Then put the pan or pot in an oven and bake it for one hour and let it cool inside the over for another hour. You will notice a glaze like layer. Use your cast iron pot now. It will still stick initially but after few uses it will stop sticking. The main rule is not to use soap ever to clean. Use hot water and metal scrubber. You can use salt to get rid of extra oil. Wash it and then put it on stove for few minutes to dry out the water to avoid rust. smear a layer of oil and heat it on low flame until oil smokes.
After washing, always grease tawa with oil to avoid rust Can be used in high flame also Make sure, dont wash tawa when hot. Let rhe tawa cool, then wash.
Roke is a copy of Lodge from USA, they have copied almost the full range, but are way behind from Lodge in terms of quality. It is so funny that they are calling Sklit (Pan) instead of Tawa. Applying the refined oil for seasoning is NOT recommended. Use peanut or Canola oil. As both the oils have higher smoking time. Heat till smoke point, Let the Tawa to cool down naturally, DON'T apply water. For best use repeat the process. Wash with mild soup. Stoing for a long time apply oil with tissue paper. Good going Ma'am you did a great job, keep it up. God bless .
Do not let tawa to be too hot. Lower the flame after you remove cooked dhosa and sprinkle water at that time. Maintaining tawa temperature during dhosa is most important. I experienced it with non stick tawa. I was about to throw the tawa but its working now.

Try using cut onion fixed to a fork....and then just rotating it on the tawa before pouring dosa batter

100% correct.
Use half cut onion with abit oil

Correct. Make first a small dosa...then slowly increase the size and thinness..
I am using the ordinary iron tawa but following all the basics of dosa preparation as mentioned in the comments.

We have to add oil before each dosa or else it will get stuck.
If its very hot then sprinkle some water on it.

Actually that's best thing to do..even if after fully seasoned..i always keep my roti and dosa tawa seperate
Yes. I use only for making dosa. If chapati or bread is cooked, the tava may get damaged.l
Rub a few salt crystals with oil when the tawa is hot ,before pouring the batter...then sprinkle some water&remove the water&allow to reheat before starting to make dosa...a few thick dosas are made before you can get thin crispy dosa

@@pratimapankar3635 pouring oil is not required, just dip half cut onion in the oil spread over the tawa before pouring dosa.first two days u have to season it by applying oil and heat the tawa and cool it . This for two days.
@My Pets World...thnx a lot.
Aap ki review wali videos bahut achhi hoti hai
Do we have to pre seasoning tawa every time ? Or only first time when we used
I have the same tawa and have been using it for the past 2 years. It does a wonderful job with making dosas. U just have to pre-season it for the first time, initially 2-3 dosas even I had the same experience as mentioned here but after that no problem at all. Most important don't wash it often with strong liquid soaps, dilute it before using
Pre seasoning also doesn't take that much time as mentioned
One more thing I forgot to mention, u don't have to wash it with plain water after every use as the product instructions suggest, I just wipe the excess oil and any tiny bits stuck to the tawa after preparing dosas with a piece of dry clean cloth and store it away in a place away from moisture until next use
Important thing is grease the cast iron utensils well to avoid rust formation
Agar chikna hai toh, kaise rak sakthe hai ??
Explained so well and same thing happened with me too initially with Vinod cast iron tawa. One more thing it not gives good results on low flame for roti or parantha’s. Need to flame so high, than only it cooks well. Is it same with everyone and sometimes cheela or dosa become so dark in center too even on low flame.why is it? Plz if someone can help me out😊

Aap meri next video 4 September ko aane wali hai zarur dekhna aapke kam aa sakti hai
First u can use vegetable peel add oil on the tava and fry the vegetable peel to season it. Do not use soap u can use a cut potato and salt rub the tawa with the potato all the dirt will come out. As said in the video u so not need 5 to 6 hours to season this.
Very nicely explained. Thank you.
Can you make roties on cast iron tawa?
Yes ofcourse
Besan ka chilla bna skte hai isme
Maine abtak try to nahi kiya per try kar ke reply karti hun..
When dosa stick to tawa don't remove it with spoon as you did in video.....let tawa cool down completely ... Dosa will get removed automatically once tawa is cooled....and don't put water in tawa to cool down ...just switch off gas....
Achese clean karo with something like Pitambari. I use normal tawa (iron), goes good for dosa
Thank dear for making this informative video
Thank you🥰🥰

At what temperature to bake in oven?
After washing, always grease tawa with oil to avoid rust
Can be used in high flame also
Make sure, dont wash tawa when hot. Let rhe tawa cool, then wash.
Maine jab khareeda tab mera bhi aisa he sochna tha but now i am very much satisfied with my decision

Hey can we make omlet on this?
Yes ofcourse

God bless .
