A few months ago Patti Boyd sold her collection of personal items from her time with George and Clapton at Christies in London, included in the sale were photos of the musicians playing and jamming at the wedding party,Paul,George and Ringo are in the photos.
✨Anything John, Paul, George & Ringo still stirs that blend of magic, curiosity, fascination & love we feel - as fans in real time, & the generations that have followed ❤️✌️✨
I remember hearing about that back in HS. It was just a paragraph in the newspaper. Whenever I step back into the time machine, I still can't believe John's murder. Such a horrible moment in time.
I remember this event was in all the newspapers and magazines in 1979. When the headlines read that three of The Beatles reunited for Eric Clapton's wedding, I thought for sure it would have been John, George, and Ringo. I thought for sure Paul would not do it, but I soon read on to find out I was wrong.
This shows you that rock wasn’t just a business for these golden age Rockstars. It was personal enjoyment as well. It’s too bad they didn’t have a soundboard recording.
1:38 Wow. That picture of Paul and George playing together! I had never seen it before. It shows how unprepared the impromptu reunion was set, as Paul seems to be playing a right handed Fender Precision bass and George was playing a left handed guitar !! 😃 Clearly some other band’s instruments.
A distant relative told me there were rumors of a Beatles being reunited just before John was assesinated in late 1980... It was that close, if the rumors were true... Greetings from Puebla, Mexico!!
The ultimate wedding band! I wonder if they did requests? Sting had the same experience at his wedding to Trudi, the other two from the Police were there, and after the official wedding band had finished, leaving their instruments, the guests chanted for them to play. Sting said that all the old tensions came back after hearing mistakes from the others ! Chill out Gordon…😅
Eric didn’t invite him. John said he would have come if he had been invited. He traveled all over the world in that period. Especially to Japan. Gee, I wonder why he never made it to England? I mean, all he had to do was follow the advice of yokos various card readers. That’s why he took all those other trips. I wonder why Yokos paid card readers never came to the conclusion that John should take a trip to England?
Lennon was in a ten year battle with J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI at the time. Hoover considered him to be a danger to civil order or whatever. If Lennon were to leave the US he risked not being allowed back.
He didnt have a green card and he was afraid he wouldn't get back in for a while.. he had plans to go back and spoke to family about it just before he was shot.
@@farrellmcnulty909 yes I know but that was why he didn't go back before that and then later he had plans to go back. I don't know why he didn't go to the wedding but he was trying to cut off from being John Lennon and record contracts and stuff so maybe that was part of it. You're right but I didn't mean to suggest that was an excuse for the wedding but part of the jigsaw as to why he didn't go back for years.
I read that Yoko vetted all correspondence and telephone calls regarding John. Even if John had been sent an invite, there’s a possibility that Yoko out of jealously, may of stopped him receiving it. She couldn’t stand the thought of John being re-united with his former band mates.
Yes, the infamous 'kimonoed dragon lady' most assuredly would've 'intercepted' that 'communication' to keep the newly-formed "Threatles" from becoming a 'foursome'! John was rarely the 'odd man out'...but he married himself to a very jealous and controlling woman!
John never got an invitation? Thats insane! Was Patti to blame. Could've been a Real Beatles Reunion with John, Paul, George, & Ringo! Maybe it was better that way. Don't get me wrong, it would be fantastic, awesome, and then some but what songs would they play? But knowing what happens to John, man, I wish he had an Invitation 😢 🚶♂🚶♂🚶♂🚶♂🌞
John wasn't invited probably because of Yoko! If the Beatles had ever gotten back together? It would have been Eric who would of played in John position. Clapton would be the only 🎸 who could have replaced Lennon in the Beatles!
As far as I know, though it's never been factually stated by any of them, the 4 Beatles were never all together in each other's company again after the 60's ended, that being the photo-shoot at John's mansion on August 22nd.
@@andrewcairns8266 Where? I've always wondered about that, though I've always felt fairly certain they never met as a foursome again after the 60s came to a close.

Very, very informative and useful video, it has to be done as an essential part of the Beatles history.😂

That's a private performance, not public. But still impressive and worth discussing. Thanks for posting.

One clarification. Ringo did not come to New York from the Europe, he came from the Caribbean.

it would probably have happened in the 80s.john lennon said in 1980 that they would reunite.
Zack with “Gallagher” on his shirt.
Maybe, as this took place in England, they didn’t think he’d come because, for some unknown reason, Lennon never went back to his homeland.
