First video of yours I've seen, and I decided to subscribe. I purchased a 24-set of A Gallo but haven't unwrapped/swatched the paints. I'm finishing a 6-week class, and we are using the same palette. I wish my dad was still alive for so many reasons. He was a professional artist, a grad of The Cleveland Art Institute. He had a stroke at age 67, which affected the art center of his brain. I'd love to ask him questions now (he didn't lose the technical knowledge) because while he was alive I was busy with his care (24/7) and work. Exhausting. We camped all over the country so he could paint. What he did was plein air, but until the last few years, I'd never heard that phrase. He was entirely comfortable painting in the middle of a crowd. Not me!
Hello Mary! Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We have a lot in common-I’m so sorry you didn’t get enough time with your talented dad. Mine passed at age 67-he would have been 95 this year. I miss him-and my mom-every day. My mom was the draftsman and artist in our family, and my very talented art mentor. Having a parent that can see the world through creative, artistic eyes is a blessing. You are richly blessed with wonderful memories. I cared for my mom for the last 3 years of her life. Those were my favorite 3 years with her. Drawing & painting makes me feel very close to my mom. I imagine you understand this🩷 Thank you so much for subscribing! If you’d re curious, I recently reviewed the Signature 36 set-these paints are nothing short of extraordinary. @@artonthecreekfrom 1994 - 2018 I was the 24/7 caregiver. I miss them so much. A huge blessing for me is that I was with each when they died, holding their hands. I'd prayed to be with them. The intensity that developed in our relationship - they came first - meant that when they died, I felt/feel as though I'm widowed. Starting to learn to paint makes me feel closer again to dad, who died in 2007, just shy of 81.
What a great painting! I treated myself to the signature set 1 of A. Gallo paints a couple years ago and they are the ones I reach for the most and keep in my car for all those on the go moments. I have other sets too...why I reach for these A. Gallo's over everything else...? I can't really say exactly...haha! It's just a fun palette, I enjoy the color selection as it's not the typical of all the other 12 set palettes. It challenges me because the color selection is limited and unique. I really enjoy my set as you do yours. Like you, I also have m. graham, sennelier I even have a small set of schmincke....the A. Gallo's get the most attention. They truly are beautiful paints.❤ Thanks for your video. Toni
Hi Toni! Thanks so much for watching & commenting! If my memory serves they are having a re-stock this weekend…they have full pans now!! I adore A. Gallo paints as well. I have a larger set of the Signature 36 set, too. Such wonderful paints! If you’re curious, I’ve got a video of the 36 set here: ua-cam.com/video/4BE7EB5GgX8/v-deo.htmlsi=E1vGv3QWdS7j8Sbq Have fun painting this week!
Love your video! I just got my set from them yesterday. I so agree with your comments comparing these to M Graham and Sennelier. I was amazed how quickly they re wet and the color saturation. A little goes a long way. Thank you for reinforcing my indulgent purchase!
Hi Anna! I’m so happy you appreciated this video! 🤠 🎨 I had to save for more than a little while for these paints, but I really feel it was worth the investment. I’ve continued to use them and I am astonished at their clear, bright properties! I’m so happy you enjoy your set as well🥰
Looks like a perfect day ❤ I have heard so many wonderful things about A Gallo! I find it hard to justify for my skill level 😂 but wow are they gorgeous paints. And the packaging is so stunning. Beautiful painting!
Thanks Christine! They are incredibly nice 😊 I completely understand about cost. You know-if you are looking for a more approachable professional watercolor, I’d recommend either Rosà or Mijello Mission Gold. You never know-paints make a great birthday gift! 💗💗
Hi Pamela! I'm so happy you enjoyed this! I'm excited for you to get your A. Gallo paints too - they are lovely and I hope you love them as much as I love mine!👩🎨
You truly live in a beautiful area Anne, and your painting showcased that beauty so very well. I couldn’t paint outside due to feeling too much on show. I don’t show anything I sketch or paint to anyone!! I have the first signature set, and I love it too. It is so hard to believe that the entire process in making these paints is done by hand. I love that, in this day of high industry, you can find high quality paints lovingly made in relatively small batches. I really should do more with my own paints. Happy travelling!! ❤️🎨🖌👩🏻🎨
Hi Anita! I’m thrilled that you have the A Gallo watercolors! I’m thinking I can fit a few more half pans in the middle in the slot that’s intended for a brush…hmmm… I, like you, am very happy to support small artisan companies in our era of mass-production. Happy painting!!🤠
Hi Kathy! Glad you enjoyed this! I can’t remember if I told you-I’m in Westminster once a week! Small world! You are so close to the Flatirons Vista hiking area off of Hwy 93-or even Chautauqua Park! I’m going to be in Boulder next week-have you ever seen the Iris Gardens at Long’s Gardens? Springtime is busting our all over and I need 8 days in a week to paint everything I’d like to lol. Hope you have a great week & get to paint outside close to home. Even if it’s just your backyard🌷❤️
How did you like the travel brush? It certainly has a nice point, but it seemed to not have a very big belly. I'm impressed you paint plein air. Nice painting of a beautiful day. Do these paints glaze well? One other UA-camr mentioned she had problems with the paint lifting (the only negative word I've ever heard about these paints).
Hi DeeAnn! The brush is one of the most versatile travel brushes I’ve ever used. Will definitely consider purchasing 1 or 2 more. It’s the best travel brush I used so far-really! It holds loads of paint! I didn’t have any trouble with my glazes lifting -I think you might be able to see an example of that at timestamp 10:19 That’s where I begin to apply a layer of glaze of gold over the purple. It’s also very visible at 12:04. I never had any layers lift throughout the painting unless I was intentionally lifting color. These A. Gallos really are wonderful. The lifting issue might be due to paper-even with professional grade cotton paper, the sizing method can effect lifting.
@artonthecreek Thanks, Ann, for such a detailed answer! I hadn't thought about the paper quality affecting the layering ability. Good point. I'm tempted by these paints, but I'll have to wait a while.

Hahahhaa love it! 😂
Love A. Gallo paints so much…I am currently anxiously awaiting my next shipment from them to me in the US. Thanks for sharing this 😀💜

Beautiful, would like to hike there. I don’t it’s too far from Westminster. Thanks for the review and painting! Kathy B.

So many paints, so little time💖💖😊 I get it!!
Pretty picture. I like those paints, but so little money. Maybe next year.
Hi Diane! Thank you😊 As long as you’re able to create and be happy that’s all that matters💖💖
