What really annoys me about this franchise is that each game has a strong suit and the perfect game would be a combination of those. Yet, the developers don't use that and it's so frustrating. In my opinion, sims 2 has the best lore and storytelling, which I miss so much. Also, there are so many small details that are utter chaos and it's overall so funny; sims 3 is amazing for gameplay, but I do miss emotions when I play it. I do love walking around the town freely tho. And sims 4 is the best for bulding, plus the emotions system but only if you use mods to make that more fun lmao.
@@Psychopatz what is? To keep good features and improve them in new versions of the game, instead of trashing them completely? Also, I'm not "asking" for anything, I clearly stated this is *my opinion*.
I agree. I wish they'd combine the best of the different games. I understand why people would say it's hard to program like that however if modders can do it...🤷♀️ I really wish the gamemakers would work with modders and other cc creators to make the game better. That might help w some of those potential issues. However the main problem I do see with having everything is that it would probably slow the game down like the many mods and cc I install always do😂
@@Psychopatz is actually easy, they could either be a Smart People and program it or just go shit mode and just reuse the same code. Im pretty sure somebody already make world creator.
Werewolves were in The Sims 2 as well. They came with pets, if I’m not mistaken. It was very difficult to make your sim a werewolf because you had to befriend a wolf and wait for it to autonomously ‘nibble’ you. Also why does no one ever talk about Plantsims?
I was thinking this too- also Genies and Fairies are in the Sims 3 but not in the Sims 2. I personally really like the Sims 3 werewolves more! I get to customize how their shifted form looks (although sometimes buggy). I like having slightly ugly looking werewolves but also pretty at the same time so I take it easy on the facial traits.. until the game randomizes it for me at random 😔
you could also be abducted by aliens in sims 2 and impregnated with an Alien baby lmao, pretty sure you had to look through the telescope for a long time or something
It's fascinating hearing Sims 2 fans as someone who started from a young age with Sims 3, because it NEVER occurred to me that people played Sims for the pre-written stories. How cool to hear a whole different side of the fandom.
The difference between the sims one and two was so huge, I remember it feeling like a complete different game. Something I doesn’t think for the later ones
I remember playing TS1 and seeing the advertisements for TS2 on the back of the disc cases 🥹🥹 then one day my grandma brought me TS2 from Costco and I was so amazed by the game… TODDLERS
I was really blown away when I played the Sims 2 because I played Sims 1 first. It was better in almost every way. Sims 3 and on had some good features but didn't have that 'wow' factor and took a lot of other features away
Back in the day, I played sims 2 all through my three months suspension from high school. I don’t regret a single day of missing school, for I learned to explore a world beyond magical.
I love them both, I just prefer The Sims 3. What I don't love is TS2 and TS3 fams fighting each other. You can't say you prefer TS3 sometimes because some TS2 fans start "NOOOO, you can't like TS3 better" or "NOOO, TS3 theme song bad, University theme song better, it's a copy" I'm fan of both, we don't have to fight, they're the best games of the franchise, the ones you don't forget, so TS2 & TS3 fans, let's just enjoy the games!
both are such great games! i think i’m leaning towards the sims 3 though. the style + open world really hits the spot for me! although they do look strange, i do love it!! and the sims 2 is also great, the babies are for sure the cutest. 🥰
I love both games but I prefer The Sims 2 because of wants and fears system and all the little details it has. I also don't like how the Sims look in the Sims 3, CC helps a bit but they still look weird in live mode. I absolutely love how the world looks though, it's better than cartoony Sims 4 imo. A perfect Sims game would be a combination of Sims 2 and 3 for me.
My heart will always be with Sims 2. It's probably part nostalgia but the changes from Sims 1 to 2 were simply ahead of its time and I was truly in awe. Although Sims 3 did improve on things, the changes between 2 and 3 does not compare to Sims 1 and 2. I will say that Sims 3 World Adventures is one of my favorite EPs across the board (Sims 2 Bon Voyage is #1).
In my opinion this is how I would rank them. On Gameplay (Fun, Chaotic, Easy, Unique, Flexible) Best to worst Sims 1 Sims 2 Sims 3 Sims 4 On building and CAS Best to worst Sims 4 Sims 3 Sims 2 Sims 1 My favorite: Sims 2 Sims 1 Sims 3 Sims 4 Smoothest running/ with least lag Sims 4 Sims 2 Sims 1 Sims 3 (Sims 3 is so laggy omg 😭😭 especially island paradise)
@@NotSupernovaYT my ranking : Gameplay : Sims 3 Sims 2 Sims 4 Building Sims 4 Sims 3 Sims 2 Create a sim Sims 4 Sims 3 Sims 2 In general : Sims 2 ( spicy gameplay , chemistry and world customization ) Sims 3 ( open world , interactions and being realistic ( not just its sims ) ) Sims 4 ( cas , building and being modern )
@@samsonthe80yearoldhedgehog62 What? My pc build has a Ryzen 9 7950X, 4tb SSD, RX 7900 XT with 20 gig of vram, and 32 gig of memory.... The sims 3 still runs horribly even with fixes applied and the 4 gig patch, it's never been a secret that the sims 3 is poorly optimized and has awful routing issues.
I actually don't feel like Sims 3 really "improved" on much. The only thing I can think of is they added a bunch of new skills. The pen world really wasn't all it was cracked up to be and the traits were as bad as Sims 4 (you are a dive, so you shower "with flair" same animation and it doesn't do anything). I tried to play Sims 3 again now that I have a better computer because of the hype (it seems to be the fan favorite now) and you can't even bathe your toddler. You spin them around to change the diaper and hygiene goes all the way up. Now imagine if Sims 4 had done that after the toddler patch. Sims 3 is when they started getting lazy. Sims 2 was a passion project and it shows.
Sims 3 wins for me in a lot of ways, but the one that never gets mentioned is EPIC lifespan and the ability to set a separate span for each age (babies can grow up, but I don’t have to worry about my main character aging out of their storyline). I was honestly terrified of Sims 2 when it came out (playing Sims 1 in my youth) due to the aging; I only started playing it this last year out of curiosity. And the one place where Sims 2 wins for me is romantic interactions, they did do an excellent job with those (cute to steamy). On a side note, I’ve always found the Sims 3 sims beautiful and have never understood the “pudding face” comments. Maybe I’ve just been lucky in my computers and they could run the graphics at the highest level? But I do agree the spawnies with their middle sliders faces and mud colored hair are pretty blah; whenever I have the time, I have a lot of fun hunting down spawnies and giving them makeovers and back stories so they can become individuals. Some of my favorite sims started their lives as spawnies!😅
I have sims 3 bias because childhood nostalgia, and because I never got the chance to play the sims 2. I did play the console version of cast away but that was as it turns out a wildly different experience to the regular sims 2 lol
@carbohydrated2447 That's true, but the sims 2 mod community is still going strong and now there's basically a mod file you drop into the download folder and you have story progression, and neighbor house visiting.
I think it’s partly nostalgia when people say the sims 2 is the better game . My first sims game was the sims 4 ( which gets boring fast) and in desperation i decided to explore the earlier 2 games . Out of Sims 2 and 3 I liked 3 much more . Sure there’s a lot of lore in the sims 2 but the open world in 3 and customization options just make it a much better game imo .
Sims 2 had a very rich gameplay, the minor details were so good that makes the whole experience very special. They have the best sound and music in my opinion as well. Althought sims 3's open world and very detailed world/houses design is unbeatable! Just some of my favs from both: Sims 2 1. Haunting Ghosts (super creepy to me as a kid lol) 2. Harder gameplay, even taking care of babies could be a challenge with the amount of diapers you need to change lol 3. Inviting the headmaster was awesome 4 for some reason, I really love the jelly food and microwave dinner 5. Being able to play with food with family/friends was really cool Sims 3 1. Open map 2. Being able to swim anywhere where there is water 3. Farming and fishing feels like a game on its own 4. Cars!!! 5. More advanced furniture placement and build mode
I love both these games equally and more than TS4. I personally feel like TS3 was just slightly better imo. Without the lag and better looking sims, I bet it would be the favorite of a lot more Simmers. I just generally enjoyed both games.
@@ProtoIndoEuropean88 If you want to play rotationally, Sims 3 is just out of the equation too. You need ten million complicated mods to stop story progression and age only the active household just to be able to do what Sims 2 does automatically and what takes two clicks in the game options in Sims 4. And even then you're two, three rotations in and saving takes 10 minutes on a gaming PC. Sims 3 made everything as complicated and convoluted as possible. I tried playing it again recently because of all of the type how supposedly Sims 4 with all of the patches and DLC juust reached the level of Sims 3 base game and 3 is just so amazing with so much to do and the Sims have sooo much more personality. I have a better PC than I had then and yeah, it runs...for now. But folks must have a bad case of nostalgia because a lot of what they said is just not true. The Sims have so much more personality than in 4? Lol, where? The Sims all felt the same. Sure, there are more traits than in 4 but they are mostly just as if not more useless. You're a diva? So you take a shower "with flair" instead of just taking a shower. Most traits just seem to add more chatting options JUST LIKE IN SIMS 4! You can't even bathe toddlers in Sims 3. You change the diaper by spinning them around and hygiene goes all the way up. But only Sims 4 is lazy?? Sims 3 toddlers are just slightly above the object baby in 4. It boggles my mind now how Sims 3 is now the fan favorite. I remember when it came out and how much hate it got. The only one of the sequels that didn't was Sims 2. People pretty much agreed that it was a massive improvement compared to Sims 1. It was a giant leap and added much much more than either 3 or 4. Things like open world and emotions just weren't as groundbreaking as they were hyped up to be.
@@mchobbit2951 I prefer the Sims 2 honestly. Even the babies feel like living babies in the second game. I have to say that the toddlers look cuter in the sims 4 though and more wholesome. Plus the amazing mods that sims 4 has makes me want to play that game. But for some reason it's not as lively as the 2nd game.
@@mchobbit2951 Plus don't even get me started on the werewolves of sims 3 that look way more like Orcs from warcraft games than an actual werewolf. They act stupid and annoying, not scary the slightest. Vampires from all Sims games and ghosts from sims 2 are the only supernaturals that look cool, better.
@@ProtoIndoEuropean88 I like Sims 2 the most too and feel like it's underappreciated and often forgotten. People will scream about how we had this in Sims 3 and now we don't in Sims 4 waa and 90% of the time, it's something that we not only had in Sims 2, but Sims 2 even did it better. Such as a recent comment "Remember when we had REAL STORES IN THE SIMS?" on a Sims 3 video...yeah...I remember when you went there with your Sim instead of staring at a rabbit hole too. I like 4 more than 3, which I realize is controversial. But if you like rotational play and want to customize the game to play in ways it was never intended to be played in, like medieval words, decades challenges, boarding schools and so on, Sims 2 is the clear winner. I was able to set up stuff like that in 4, but you can't fully do away with everything that breaks immersion. The ugly mismatched townies keep on spawning and no mods stop them (and I refuse to pay a subscription to a mod that supposedly does). I set up a boarding school with a mod and they kept trying to sneak to school. My 1970s kids keep getting those Parenthood character trait cards about texting someone...you don't text anyone, it's 1972! In 3...forget about it. I feel like you need a degree in technology to just set the whole thing up and you have to do constant maintenance to prevent lag, corruption, story progression fucking up your game and so on. I also wouldn't dare doing a long challenge, like a decades challenge or legacy, in Sims 3. People have managed to play 100 generations in Sims 2. If you don't do stuff like delete graves and bin families, you can keep your save up for a long long time. 4 is better than 3 in that regard, but I don't know if it could manage the overpopulated uberhoods some of us have/had.
personally I can play Sims 2 for way more hours than Sims 3. but I was absolutely obsessed with Sims 3 when it first came out so maybe I just burnt myself out lol
grocery and clothes shopping is sorely missed in the sims 3 (and 4). sims 2 definitely worked around the restrictions of the world so well. plus in sims 2 you can create your own custom world. I made a city called Melbrook City. it had lots of clubs, corner store, book store, salon, music venues etc etc etc. it sucks you can't really own and run a business in the sims 3. the sims 3 is my favorite to play but I've played a lot of sims 2 too :) amazing games the both
My first Sims game was the Sims 2! And I only had the base game and Bon Voyage until I lost it lol but hands down for me this is the best game and I miss it terribly! Sims 3 was ok, Sims 4 is what it is, but man the Sims 2 was my jam. The story lines, the animation before woohoo, birth, etc, the memories.. Miss it
I love the sims 2! But having to wait through the loading screens is a bit of a downside for me after playing the sims 3 and makes me feel like I'm trapped and I end up playing only in the house. But then, when I'm playing the sims 3, I feel like something is missing, the graphics of the sims themselves makes it difficult for me to take them affection and mostly I don't care what happens with them or I don't feel nothing when something nice happens to them (idk why lol maybe I only care about looks lmao), they don't feel the same as in the sims 2... Conclusion: remake of the sims 2 with open world for me xd
Particularly I prefer Sims 3.Obviously there's some things that I prefer in Sims 2 but in overall I still like more sims 3,for alot of things for example:Creating a character, there's much more options for creating one like body size, skin color clothes etc. 2nd it has a open world!Of course there is alot of bunny holes but at the same way I just love open world and expansions. And a expansion that I love it's Sims 3 generations expansion because I love roleplaying with families. But it depends what kind of roleplay you like more.If you like more drama roleplay and stuff I would say Sims 2 but if you like a more family roleplay then Sims 3! I hope my opinion help abit y'all lol
@@athinam.4593ehhh i think the sims 4 is worse lol with the sims 3 theres actually stuff to do whilst in the sims 4 you just create a pretty character play for 1 hr get bored of the dry ass gameplay and leave. (Also i really like sims 3 traits but shhhhh)
@@Chuddedoutthat's how I used to feel about the sims 3 though. And I played it somewhat heavily but I burned out on the one sims/legacy gameplay kind of thing. That's why I think I would prefer rotational gameplay (a la sims 2 style?). But yeah, sims 4 I played for less than 30 minutes barely everytime I tried and I just couldn't get into it.
I love both the games equally, they were part of my childhood I loved when Sims 3 did Open World and had many events added like prom, teenagers breaking curfew and getting them grounded for a lot of things Although the lag was what put me off it at times and it constantly refusing to save But Sims 2 I grew up with for 5 years with the base game, Pets, Bon Voyage and probably another i dont remember I didn’t get into collecting all the packs until Sims 4 Wasn’t much into the stuff packs of Sims 3 or Into the Future Either way both games hold a good deal in my heart
Inarguably sims 2 and 3 and leagues better than 4, though which of the two is better is down to how you play the game. I personally like the realism of sims 2. I like that my sims don’t have infinite clothing and have to go shopping to get changed. I like that they don’t spawn with phones, that I have to buy groceries to cook. I like the random features like being able to work on creating a car, or being able to learn how to fire dance on holiday. But everything I dislike about the sims 2 is fixed in the sims 3. I like sims 3 story progression better, I like the graphics better, I like the expansions better, and I get a bigger hit of nostalgia since it was my childhood game. I feel like everyone feels VERY strongly about either loving or hating the sims 2 and 3 whereas the reception on 4 is more wishy-washy and all over the place
There is a very good video explaining the genetics in sims 2, and how it is more complex than sims 3. It's on a channel called Marticore, and it's really worth the watch if you care about the genetics of your sims
I like the Sims 3 a bit more due to some nostalgia when I had it on the Wii and it was multiplayer too for somethings. I barely installed the Sims 2 since I wanted to see if it was similar to the sims 3. I love it but I think I might just purchase the sims 3 on my laptop since something about how the townies and sims played out drawn me in a bit more. Sims 4 though was absolutely the worst, too laggy, sims were robots, no drama, no story, and I mainly played it only to build.
i really miss sims 2! i was playing as a 11 year old, on my ps2. I remember actually finding it a challenge, and I believe I still would if i didn't sell my old ps2 :( so many regrets.
I never cared for lore myself. Sims 2 looks better, but Sims 3 never wowed me that much. Sims 2 is fun, but loading screens are a downside. I just enjoy my murder simulator in Sims 4. Sims 4 is okay to me. All Sims games are flawed, no matter how you look at it. I like Sims 4 more than 3 and 2 for fixing issues in both games for me. Sims Medieval is great.
Personally I think the Sims 3 is the better game, open world is a huge part of why I prefer the Sims 3 over the Sims 2, as well as the endless customisation. The Sims 3 might be laggy on lower end PCs but The Sims 2 is such a corrupted game from the first time you play. The Sims 2 has some awesome little game play mechanics that I wish were carried over to the Sims 3 but for me the Sims 3 will always win between the two.
My biggest problem with the Sims 3 was the corrupted save files. This game for some odd reason always gets its save files corrupted, so I had an age freezing bug that forced me to start the game all over again, glitches that would mess up my gameplay, and the graphics that would take ages to load everytime I would take my sim elsewhere. Besides from that I enjoy the sims 3 but with these glitches I prefer to stick with Sims 2 where I never experienced any problems. Also the ghosts in the sims 2 were way scarier
@BeautyQueen2023XThat's not a correct response. He said he believed pets in the sims 3 were better than in the sims 2. Not that he had no idea pets existed in the prior game.
after playing Sims 3, Sims 2 and Sims 4, then going back to Sims 3 again... i feel like going back home for me. i don't need any mod to play hours and hours of fun! this game is complete! and it will be forever in my laptop/pc hihi i hope there will be a remaster tho
Was Sims 3 your first Sims game, by any chance? Because mine was 2 and the first one you played just always feels like "going back home" for most of us.
The Sims 1 + The Sims 2 have very similar gameplay. The entire gameplay revolves around your Sims' behaviors with objects and other Sims and how those behaviors affect the stats. The Sims 3 starts adding more RPG elements. The Sims 4 takes the RPG elements from the predecessor The Sims 3, and downsizes everything.
Really enjoyed this breakdown: fair and thoughtful. I think they’re both great games and really wish their best attributes had been combined for their follow up. I do lean towards Sims 2 but that could be nostalgia. It was my first sandbox game and I spent a decade with it telling stories and building worlds. Nothing Sims 3 came out with was enough to make me try it out. For every innovative addition Sims 3 offered, I felt it left something I truly loved and needed from Sims 2 behind. But who knows, if I tried either of them now, I might have a completely different opinion 😏
I played Sims 2 with my cousin a lot when I was 9 - 13 years old, then Sims 3 with my best friend, but my favourite is TS2. Good old memories.😍🥺 It's just nicer then TS3 for me.
I feel like The Sims 2 is my favorite game, but The Sims 3 always had an allure to me since I was a kid, my pc was never able to play it, so I always longed for it and assumed it was so much better until I was actually able to run it in recently years. The simulation lag and bugs really ruined The Sims 3 for me and I don't like The Sims 4 at all, so I stick with The Sims 2. People on Discord pick on me every time telling me to just play the newest game, but they have no idea.. it hurts.
Sims 3 was always the best for customization, but Sims 2 wins for gameplay! I’ve found myself playing Sims 2 a lot lately just because it’s actually challenging! Looking after your sims needs, progressing in their careers, and keeping their aspiration meters high is harder, and it has actual consequences if you can’t keep up. It seems like with each new installment the franchise loses more of its original charm. Less lore, less uniqueness, less challenge, less fun. It’s gotten to the point in Sims 4 where I don’t actually *play* it. I just make families and build houses.
For me, it’s The Sims 2 all the way. I still play it to this day and prefer it to the others. Worlds: The Sims 2 - you could create your own from day 1 and place houses and community lots anywhere freely, plus those lots could literally be anything and the game would simply adapt around it. Agreed. Storytelling: Definitely TS2. The lore was incredible and it set you up to get into the stories straight away with the scripted events. (BTW, Daniel’s wife is called Mary-Sue.) Agreed. CAS: I’d actually have to say TS2. Create a Style was impressive, but no matter what you did in TS3’s CAS every Sim ended up looking the same - generic pudding face. I could only distinguish between them by their hair and outfit. Whereas all of my Sims in TS2 looked completely individual. Disagreed! B&B: If we’re just talking base game, I am more used to TS2 obviously but I suppose TS3 is better as you can get matching tones more easily. Agreed. Gameplay: TS2, definitely. The open world never appealed to me because it made the game lag massively. So what if I can see the physical building they’re going to? The wants and fears as well as the memories were far more detailed in TS2 and allow me to let the Sims lead the gameplay (I play a wants-based style). Agreed. Expansions: TS2, definitely. I don’t use Bon Voyage much because it doesn’t fit with my gameplay style. But I have pets all the time in my families, always go to uni with my Sims (TS2 Uni is the best version in all the games), and Open for Business is the best version of running a business. I also give my Sims an individual hobby for their spare time. TS3 doesn’t have anything quite as appealing for me. Nothing was done quite as well - more packs doesn’t mean better packs. They were smaller and didn’t have as many features. Disagreed. Therefore: TS2. Agreed LOL!
The depth of gameplay and creative freedom of TS2 is unmatched. I know TS2 will keep me entertained when I'm old and grey because there's no limit to how you can play it.
i really love sims 2 wishes and fears and other game systems like reputation, memories etc. but genetics work better in sims 3, like it’s really randomized (in the sims 2, i often had babies with the same personalities, despite the fact that i know about the firstborn syndrome and always roll a pacifier before the birth) and also you can get average values between the nose of the father and mother and also mutations are a good option… i am a dynasty player so genetics is really important for me but sims 2 game mechanics just killing how good they are {{(>_
Having started with the OG, it'll be Sims 3 for me. Gameplay was top tier and I loved the open world. The Sims 2 was incredible for all of the minor details, attention to detail and stories. Both feel infinitely more alive and brimming with personality over TS4 though.
I remember buying 3 and the graphics were so bad I just deleted it. The sims looked so weird. Like I needed glasses to see them and they never came into focus.
I know this is an old video but thank you for making it regardless. I started with 1, played 2 base game and castaways on console and got everything for the sims 3 but never had the full experience with the sims 2 like I did with 3. After being disappointed with 4 I was wondering if 2 was worth playing and I downloaded the deluxe edition or whatever it's called and I'll be giving it a shot. When I saw the cinematic scenes and the old style sims it made me curious 😊
I enjoy TS2 very much and there are several aspects in which I prefer TS2 over TS3; but, when it comes to meeting someone new in TS2, you can't just pick a house you want and have your Sim go visit it... Yes, you can meet new Sims online and then your Sim can call them and invite them to come over, but it's impossible for your Sim to go visit anyone, unless you turn things around, play as that other household for a litte while and invite your main character to go visit them. That part about TS2 sucks very much, as well as the fact that, in case you get tired of playing in the same neighborhood, you can't just move your main character(s) over there, the way you can do it in TS3, but you'd have to start that new neighborhood and pick a whole new household to play as, or create a new one... Like I said, that part also sucks about TS2. Also, in TS3, there are options, such as: clicking on a building (f.e. a hospital) and choosing an option for your main character as to that hospital. What exactly he/she needs to go to the hospital for, getting a job there, or to cure a disease? Those options don't exist in TS2 either... 😢 Nevertheless, TS2 still is a great game that is superior to its successor in several ways and its legacy will live on!
I remember playing The Sims 2 when it came out and it was a lot of fun, but I played it less than I would have liked. I played The Sims 3 a lot and really liked it, but something tells me that I like The Sims 2 more, the way it unfolds, it seems to have more "life", while The Sims 3 seems a little bit more "synthetic" and "rigid", was super fun but it didn't captivate me as much as The Sims 2. I think I should go back to playing The Sims 2 one day.
Now this is the debate I can get behind with. So tired of bashing Sims 4 because we ALL know Sims 4 is lacking. I am always go back and forth between Sims 2 or Sims 3 being a better game. In the end my vote goes to Sims 2. The details, the animation, the visual style and gameplay is slightly better. Sims 3 is a close second, but I cannot deny the open world concept and customization is better in Sims 3.
Personally I restarted playing the sims 3 after a few days on sims 2 (which kept crashing), and beside the lag I'm having much more fun with ts3 I think the perfect sims game would be a mix between 2 and 3, with the storytelling and scripted events from 2 and the open world, gameplay details and things to do that you have in sims 3 Obviously with good performances, which is the biggest sims 3 issue
Hi. Im so sorry. But i have to correct something on this video. Sims 2 also has werewolfs. I think its on Sims 2 Pets. there is a wolf with glowing eyes and visit the player's lot. We can get bitten by it. Then we transform into a werewolf. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Some would say that more packs is worse because more packs doesn't equal more content. EA seems to slim down the packs more and more and split them into other packs as time goes on. Not as noticeable to begin with but now is impossible to ignore.
I'm biased towards Sims 2, because that is the main game I played the most and got me into the franchise in the first place. I love the small details in the game and the autonomous reactions by the Sims. The wants and fears system was superb and I simply don't get why the fears were slashed in 3 and completely scrapped by 4. When it comes to addons I tend to find more in 2 that I really like, while a lot of Sims 3 addons are like "Okay, but why would I want it?" for me. I loved Bon Voyage in 2, but couldn't get bothered with world adventures, despite both being the vacation themed expansions. But that's the thing: I liked the vacation aspect in 2. It really was build around Sims being on a vacation instead of going into quests constantly. You also got benefits from having a good vacation signifying your Sims being well rested. Also the ability to make custom neighborhoods with templates. Yes, Sims 3 does have a program to make neighborhoods of your own, but it has an extremely steep learning curve. The apartments in 2 are also superior, because you can actually build apartment buildings of your own and visit your neighbors. There are things in 3 that I think are better, though. The ability to set how your Sims are doing their job for instance or having more freedom to place cars on the lot (and bikes!). I'm also slightly more inclined towards the trait system of 3, even though the personality system in 2 was quite in-depth. Also I like that there are more lifetime wished that can be chosen in CAS. I prefer 3's skill system as well, since it has a lot of different skills, particularly for creative hobbies, while 2 only has the creativity skill. ... but then again: Sims 2 doesn't try to murder my CPU while playing. Opne world sounds neat and all but was extremely unoptimised.
Such a good point about creativity skills in sims 3 and I personally choose sims 2 (as "better"). I never played sims 2 I did play sims 3. I don't know...
Memories were introduced to The Sims 3 base game in Patch 22, coinciding with the release of The Sims 3: Generations. and sims 3 you can crate your own world i Know this is Two years late
Sims 2 is the best game in the whole franchise imo. Sims 3 is pretty good, however what really ruins it for me is the poor optimization (and it's not just on low-end PCs, I have a good gaming PC which can run games like Doom Eternal, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 at high graphics settings and 60 FPS) even if you install some optimization mods, Sims 3 still runs like crap. Sims 4 is basically the Skyrim and GTA 5 of the Sims franchise, still the latest game in the franchise over 10 years later and EA loves milking it dry. Sims 1 is probably the least customizable and most poorly-aged game in the series, it was good for it's time, but then Sims 2 came out in 2004 and made Sims 1 obsolute for so many reasons.
Zombies actually came with university which was only possible with the Resurrect-O-Nomitron career reward if you pay 988-4127 simoleons to bring back a deceased sim. Free time added zombies as a negative outcome for wishing to bring a sim back from the dead and in apartment life as an evil spell which witches can bring dead sims back which both these methods don’t cost simoleons. Zombies were first introduced to series in Livin' Large when sims lose to the grim reaper when pleading but weren’t as good as the sims 2 as they just act as normal sims just without personality points.
@@nikig2382 Sims 3 sims look like creepy porcelain dolls, wtf are you talking about? Also Sims 2 sims are more realistic than any characters in games like Minecraft or TF2.
Man I’m always torn between which one I like better. I think there is way more to do in The Sims 3 because it’s so open, but the small details and funny quirks of The Sims 2 are missing from TS3. All in all I think I have to go with The Sims 3 is best Although I personally like the look of TS2 more. I also play that one for pure nostalgic purposes
Thank you! My daughter only played sims 4, which is such a bad game and I finally got her into 3 so now she gets why I hate 4 but I was trying to explain to her that when 3 came out we complained about it too but the difference is eventually we migrated over and now I couldn’t even remember what we were complaining about but Sims 4 is 9 years later and I can’t get into it and remember clearly all my problems with it. Lack of stories, long loading screens, and also rabbit holes was I think my main issues with 3. I have zero faith that Sims 5 will be anything but trash. I’ll stick with 3 forever 😂
i'm in a dilemma right now. i've been thinking of buying ts3 but I am leaning more towards ts2's cutscenes, little details etc. but I really like how ts3 has an openworld map.i need help on deciding which I should get
Both games are missing each other details and they are both great but for me I personally love the Sims 3 gameplay more and sims 3 overall so obviously I would recommend the sims 3 but people have different opinions so you can maybe watch some more vids and search about both then you can decide! If possible you can get both lol but that's just my opinion so it's up to you!
Sims 3 is the best one for me due to how much freedom you get and the amount of content included is unbeatable. However this does not mean that Sims 2 is a horrible game, sometimes I even play Sims 2 and Sims 3 at the same time due to each game having features that the other one doesn't have.
I give my vote to The Sims 2. Part of this is because I have only played The Sims 3 for a few minutes, but the reasons I only played The Sims 3 for a few minutes (maybe an hour) is because of my preference toward the way things are in The Sims 2. Before I expand on that, The Sims 2 did have werewolves. They came with Pets. As for my thoughts, a lot of the “features” of The Sims 3 were negatives in my book. Open world? I found this concerning and no one could ever convince me otherwise . . . and they still haven’t. Not sure if anyone has tried, but I’ve mentioned it many times before, even directly asked people about it and yeah, it still sounds like a bad idea to me. Color wheel? Sounds like a pain. Create-a-style kind of looks good, but not the color wheel. I like the way The Sims 4 has things now, for skins anyway . . . I’d like them to do that for hair and eyes, too, but I just want sliders, not a whole wheel. “More realistic sims” or as you put it, pudding people. Yeah, I’m not sure I could handle the graphics for all that long. Now, to be fair I have been tempted more than once by fairies, but whenever I consider it, I look at the cost of buying this game in its entirety and nope out. No thanks. Likewise, after hearing people talk about it so much, I did get curious about the Generations pack and it does sound genuinely like a good pack, but ultimately it’s the only pack that The Sims 3 has that I actively care about (since fairies is just one part of a pack), so The Sims 2 wins packs for me. Well, technically it wins everything and modern means nothing to me. Nothing I have is modern anyway.
World? Sims 3. And you can make your own worlds with CAW. As for the rabbit holes... They are not really an issue for me. I send a sim on date and they are eating tat the bistro I am then controlling another sim at home. I am not stuck dealing with the sim that's on a date. As for the shopping rabbit holes.. they are in and out too fast to be an issue. Work ones? Well atleast Sims 3 has workplaces instead of just driving off the lot to drive back onto it later. And the home lot becomes a rabbit hole if you send 1 sim out of 2+ in the house to a different lot. And if everyone in the house is at work you can't just go to the park and see what chaos the rest of the town is getting up to. I prefer Sims 3 story, the game doesn't try to force you to play it. I like the Sims because I can make my own stories and Sims 3 adds in the randomness of everyone in town having a new story with every playthrough. If I want to play a game with a ready made story I will play an RPG. Then the story in the characters bio in Sims 3 is just a suggestion as far as I am concerned. Don't think I read but half of them really. I just prefer the randomness and new story with every game like one time Bessie decided to befriend my WA sim, when she was resting at home after her "vacation" Bessie would come over and they would chat and watch TV. Well my sim got a sarcophagus built at home and on display. Bessie would come over to visit and would take a nap in it... and she turned into a mummy giving Buster something to rage about. You don't get that in Sims 2, if they are not on your lot or at a community lot they are not doing anything. Had a sim living next to a park and all kinds of things happened but allot of cheating mainly in Sims 3... you don't see that in Sims 2, just the premade story and how you the player affect it. Story for me is Sims 3 because it is new everytime and I can see it unfold. Sims 2 sims are bufugly.. the part in the video when talking about wishes and showing the first kiss reminded me of that plus those two looked like siblings. Half the sims in the game look like they are related to each other and the other half looks related to each other and all with ridiculous looking mouths and narrow heads. For CAS and sims looks Sims 3. The whole pudding face thing is just because everyone else says it and claims 2 or 4 is better, 2 sims are ugly AF and 4 look ridiculous with the overdone facial expressions and plastic hair shaped hat so all are flawed in their own way. Gameplay I will have to give to Sims 3 as well. Needs are easier to meet so you can spend more time having your sim do other things. Dates do not come with a do what the sim wants to get a great date, that allows the player to have a near endless choice on how to get the great date. Sims 3 isn't holding your hand. And you can control the whole family no matter where they are, Little Bobby is at the park, Little Susie is at the school playground with her friend, Mom is at the art gallery, dad is at the gym, Uncle Frank is at the library Gramps is at home, gran is at her friends... you get to swap between them all and get them doing things. Sims 2 unless the whole family is on the same lot that's impossible. Most all actions are the same but you are limited to the sims on the lot you are at limiting the gameplay that available. Yay Joe is eating dinner and all I can do is sit there and wait, cant check of George at the gym or Mabel at the art gallery. That freedom adds allot of gameplay simply by allowing you to play rather than not and wait. Packs.. Werewolves, fairies, mummies, mermaids, and genies. As for your preferences everyone already knew you would rate Sims 2 higher more often. You keep saying it was your favorite and you didnt play 3 much until well after 4, we know you are viewing it with rose colored glasses. Nostalgia created bias is a thing.
After watching this I'm so over the sims 3 lol I never played sims 2- wish I could! Personally open world is not all that great, hear me out, if you just go to mostly rabbit holes.. and grocery shopping and restaurants. Yeah sims 3 has those but grocery shops are rabbit holes and restaurants in sims 3 are not the same. You can sit down but it's not the same functionality as from what I've seen in sims 2. I've never played sims 2 yet so this is from what I've seen and I think I prefer it more. Also sims 2 has so many options to choose personality with the points you put into the 5 (or 6?) traits. Which doesn't seem as much however sims 3 you only get technically 5 (or 6 I think with a special add on feature?) traits which also kind or include "hobbies"... where as sims 2 you can go into a panel and choose so many hobbies. I don't know I haven't even played it but it just seems so much more immersive. Sims 3 is okay I played it strictly for years but I never even played the premades! I always made 1 sim and played a legacy sort of but I never even got more than 1 or 2 generations at most and I'd get bored. I did try playing with some of the Sunset Valley premades but again it just felt dull since it's the same (as making my 1 sim to play, you know?). That's how it was for me at least. But now since I've discovered rotational play through sims 2 players on here I see how that would work out so much better. Even for sims 3 for me I think playing the premades rotationally would be so much better. I want to try sims 2 😊 I really like generations in sims 3 from what you said I actually never got it myself and University but again I think sims 2 university might be better? I'm not into supernatural (although to be fair I never did get the expansion) and considering I love sims 2 university from what I've seen AND open for business I think sims 2 wins that for me, even. Sims 3 ambitions was okay but at the time and now that I see open for business in sims 2 ambitions seems underwhelming. Like being a firefighter is not that great. And the ghost hunter job... I do like the interior designer one but sims 2 open for business you can sell anything you can make a furniture store! And you can always roleplay another sim as an interior designer technically. So ambitions is alright but at the same time kind of underwhelming to me. Now yes sims 3 supernatural is not bad but again for me it doesn't play much so sims 2 is even more appealing... but I might never play it (just for personal reasons).. wow my post is long yeesh
Sims 2 was my first Sims game. So many memories of drowning school bullies in pools and building mansions for my Sim self. I never could get into 3 personally.
Well it's your opinion. But you were wrong about the Sims 3 trait system. Traits actually did impact the Sims and their actions. A coward sim fainted when he saw a burglar. Evil sims will laugh maniacally. Slobs will fart. You probably haven't played the game enough

The sims 4 emotions are kinda a annoying
The thing that you asked for is kinda hard to program lol
Ikr plantsims are cool too they don’t need food
I was thinking this too- also Genies and Fairies are in the Sims 3 but not in the Sims 2. I personally really like the Sims 3 werewolves more! I get to customize how their shifted form looks (although sometimes buggy). I like having slightly ugly looking werewolves but also pretty at the same time so I take it easy on the facial traits.. until the game randomizes it for me at random 😔
@@friendly4465 Genies are in the sims 2, they’re just not playable
you could also be abducted by aliens in sims 2 and impregnated with an Alien baby lmao, pretty sure you had to look through the telescope for a long time or something

It's fascinating hearing Sims 2 fans as someone who started from a young age with Sims 3, because it NEVER occurred to me that people played Sims for the pre-written stories. How cool to hear a whole different side of the fandom.
Same! its so interesting to play sims like that now, never played it for the story before
I forgot about the world customization in Sims 2, That was actually such a cool part of the game. Man Sims 2 was ahead of its time
The difference between the sims one and two was so huge, I remember it feeling like a complete different game. Something I doesn’t think for the later ones
Agreed! I remember being so impressed with the changes. It was just that good! Imagine what the game would be if Will Wright had stayed on.
Money hungry companies
Although sims 3 and sims 4 have a big difference but not in a good way
I remember playing TS1 and seeing the advertisements for TS2 on the back of the disc cases 🥹🥹 then one day my grandma brought me TS2 from Costco and I was so amazed by the game… TODDLERS
Whoa, why were you suspended for 3 months?
(“A world beyond magical”… so true!)
"suspended for 3 months" BRUH WHAT DID YOU DO
lmaoo
Did you kill the principal?
We need to know bruh
I love them both, I just prefer The Sims 3. What I don't love is TS2 and TS3 fams fighting each other. You can't say you prefer TS3 sometimes because some TS2 fans start "NOOOO, you can't like TS3 better" or "NOOO, TS3 theme song bad, University theme song better, it's a copy" I'm fan of both, we don't have to fight, they're the best games of the franchise, the ones you don't forget, so TS2 & TS3 fans, let's just enjoy the games!
let's just all agree TS4 sucks ass
@BeautyQueen2023XNot as much as Sims 2 fans from my experience.
@lukekion5047 fr, just look at the comments. Someone even wrote an essay just to say why ts3 and ts4 can't compare to ts2💀
@BeautyQueen2023XNot everybody has to like Sims 2 more than the others, just let everyone have their own opinions.
Sims 2 fans are right though. Sims 3 is by far the worst sims game.
both are such great games! i think i’m leaning towards the sims 3 though. the style + open world really hits the spot for me! although they do look strange, i do love it!! and the sims 2 is also great, the babies are for sure the cutest.

Yes! The pudding face thing is so weird. You can do so much with customization that I just don’t get it.
I have sims 3 bias because childhood nostalgia, and because I never got the chance to play the sims 2. I did play the console version of cast away but that was as it turns out a wildly different experience to the regular sims 2 lol
You forgot to mention how sims 3 has story progression which allows townies to get pregnant and make their own families
That's on sims 2 as well
@@katgikoni nope, in my sims 2 childs wont grow and people stay the same forever
@carbohydrated2447 That's true, but the sims 2 mod community is still going strong and now there's basically a mod file you drop into the download folder and you have story progression, and neighbor house visiting.
@BeautyQueen2023X wdym now? did they update the thing or what?
@BeautyQueen2023X that's a mod, not a base game thing, so sit down yourself.
Like am I the only one who loves how the sims look in 3
I like them too, I just don’t like how same faced they are! If you mod it so that random townies look more different from one another, I like it
If you use CC and custom sliders then the Sims look 100 times better in the Sims 3.
@BeautyQueen2023Xsims 2 needs also cc they even worser than the Sims 3 sims
I thought i am the only one who likes the Sims 3 sims look
Nah they look great better than 4 tbh
I think it’s partly nostalgia when people say the sims 2 is the better game . My first sims game was the sims 4 ( which gets boring fast) and in desperation i decided to explore the earlier 2 games . Out of Sims 2 and 3 I liked 3 much more . Sure there’s a lot of lore in the sims 2 but the open world in 3 and customization options just make it a much better game imo .
@KenyaGirly lol i never said its facts hence why i began with "i think"
@KenyaGirly Who said it was facts😂
not everything is about "nostalgia", you know. it's a weak argument. mb people just find sims 2 more interesting and detailed. just sayin'.
@BeautyQueen2023XYou know you can't change the opinion of a person who does not like the sims 2 right?
@BeautyQueen2023XYou are also phrasing your comments in a way that suggests it's dumb for people to like the sims 3 which it's not.
Sims 2 had a very rich gameplay, the minor details were so good that makes the whole experience very special. They have the best sound and music in my opinion as well. Althought sims 3's open world and very detailed world/houses design is unbeatable!
Just some of my favs from both:
Sims 2
1. Haunting Ghosts (super creepy to me as a kid lol)
2. Harder gameplay, even taking care of babies could be a challenge with the amount of diapers you need to change lol
3. Inviting the headmaster was awesome
4 for some reason, I really love the jelly food and microwave dinner
5. Being able to play with food with family/friends was really cool
Sims 3
1. Open map
2. Being able to swim anywhere where there is water
3. Farming and fishing feels like a game on its own
4. Cars!!!
5. More advanced furniture placement and build mode
I love both these games equally and more than TS4. I personally feel like TS3 was just slightly better imo. Without the lag and better looking sims, I bet it would be the favorite of a lot more Simmers. I just generally enjoyed both games.
without the lag? lmfao Sims 3 is the most bugged one.
The amount of times the game corrupts its save files is boggling
@@mchobbit2951
I prefer the Sims 2 honestly. Even the babies feel like living babies in the second game. I have to say that the toddlers look cuter in the sims 4 though and more wholesome. Plus the amazing mods that sims 4 has makes me want to play that game. But for some reason it's not as lively as the 2nd game.
@@mchobbit2951
Plus don't even get me started on the werewolves of sims 3 that look way more like Orcs from warcraft games than an actual werewolf.
I cant belive a comparison between sims 2 & 3 without talking about sims 2 fear & wish system & sims 3 modelet system
grocery and clothes shopping is sorely missed in the sims 3 (and 4). sims 2 definitely worked around the restrictions of the world so well. plus in sims 2 you can create your own custom world.
Sims 4 has kinda copied the loading screens from Sims 2
There actually were werewolves in the Sims 2,
In the sims 2 pets ! If a wolf bit you, you’d turn into a werewolf ! 😀 🐺
However Sims 2 sliders worked better and you could make a totally funnier Sim with them.

I loved when Sims 3 did Open World and had many events added like prom, teenagers breaking curfew and getting them grounded for a lot of things
Although the lag was what put me off it at times and it constantly refusing to save
But Sims 2 I grew up with for 5 years with the base game, Pets, Bon Voyage and probably another i dont remember
I didn’t get into collecting all the packs until Sims 4
Wasn’t much into the stuff packs of Sims 3 or Into the Future
Either way both games hold a good deal in my heart
The video isn’t talking about sims 4
@@jiminnamonroll1014 I’m talking about the sims franchise as a whole and literally only spoke about the sims 4 for less than 1 paragraph.
i wouldn't say that sims 3 graphics is better than sims 2, tbh -_-
@BeautyQueen2023Xno one is denying that lol the only thing that makes the sims 3 nice for me graphics wise is reshade and cc
Sims 3 always wins for me, it's more alive, sims 2 is to much by the script in my opinion.
@BeautyQueen2023X You would loose your money with that bet.
Sims 3 its just space wasting to me
@@janpetercok7315 What do you mean?
There is a very good video explaining the genetics in sims 2, and how it is more complex than sims 3. It's on a channel called Marticore, and it's really worth the watch if you care about the genetics of your sims
I absolutely LOVE Sims 2. It's a true masterpiece. In fact, I still play it. On my PC I have both Sims 4 and Sims 2 installed.
This is an unfair question both games are great but think sims 3 is better because of pets been able to use my pets as a household was fun
@BeautyQueen2023XThat's not a correct response. He said he believed pets in the sims 3 were better than in the sims 2. Not that he had no idea pets existed in the prior game.
after playing Sims 3, Sims 2 and Sims 4, then going back to Sims 3 again... i feel like going back home for me.
i don't need any mod to play hours and hours of fun!
this game is complete! and it will be forever in my laptop/pc hihi
i hope there will be a remaster tho
Was Sims 3 your first Sims game, by any chance? Because mine was 2 and the first one you played just always feels like "going back home" for most of us.
@BeautyQueen2023X i agree 👍
@BeautyQueen2023X why are u everywhere bashing on the sims 3. you're so weird lmao
Werewolves actually came with TS2 Pets. You had to befriend a wolf and get it to bite you.
Played the Sims 3. I prefer Sims 2
Your my favorite sims youtuber hands down thanks for your content also love your sense of humor!
Am I the only one who thinks the Sims 3 pudding people are kind of cute?
Good old memories.😍🥺
It's just nicer then TS3 for me.
I never played the sims 2 or sims 3 but after seeing these comparisons i really want to play both. I played the first sims game and the 4th.
I love the Sims 2 cos it’s so much fun. I can play for hours and hours and not see the time pass… 😊
11:44 a stand-alone expansion comparison video for the main packs could be interesting
I just make families and build houses.
i still play sims 2. Its the best sims game in my opinion
Love your videos! I vote for sims 2 over sims 3, however both are pretty glitchy at least on my computer so I prefer sims 4 overall.
I know TS2 will keep me entertained when I'm old and grey because there's no limit to how you can play it.
i really love sims 2 wishes and fears and other game systems like reputation, memories etc. but genetics work better in sims 3, like it’s really randomized (in the sims 2, i often had babies with the same personalities, despite the fact that i know about the firstborn syndrome and always roll a pacifier before the birth) and also you can get average values between the nose of the father and mother and also mutations are a good option… i am a dynasty player so genetics is really important for me but sims 2 game mechanics just killing how good they are {{(>_
The Sims 2 hands down is better than the The Sims 3. I used the merged Pleasantview Megahood and build stories in a connected universe.
Having started with the OG, it'll be Sims 3 for me. Gameplay was top tier and I loved the open world. The Sims 2 was incredible for all of the minor details, attention to detail and stories.
Both feel infinitely more alive and brimming with personality over TS4 though.
3 because a lot of skills, traits and graphic. Also I like many interactions.
I remember buying 3 and the graphics were so bad I just deleted it. The sims looked so weird. Like I needed glasses to see them and they never came into focus.
💀💀💀💀
I love your honest judgement. I totally agree with you ❤️
I know this is an old video but thank you for making it regardless.
Nevertheless, TS2 still is a great game that is superior to its successor in several ways and its legacy will live on!
I game that combines the best features of The Sims 2 and 3 would be perfect
I really disliked the rabbit holes in the sims 3
sims 3 is the best only bad thing about sims 3 is that it crashes
The SIms 2 actually has the best CaS because you can change face types incrementally by right clicking.
I dont know which one is better between 2-3 both are great 2 just has a super special place in my heart but both games are better than 4
Came here for research bc I’ve never played 3, I love 2! But I heard in 3 there’s more things for kids to do. I can’t find as many kid mods for 2.
_Sims 2 best, details, animation._
*Need remake graphics and Performance.*
Personally I restarted playing the sims 3 after a few days on sims 2 (which kept crashing), and beside the lag I'm having much more fun with ts3
I think the perfect sims game would be a mix between 2 and 3, with the storytelling and scripted events from 2 and the open world, gameplay details and things to do that you have in sims 3
Obviously with good performances, which is the biggest sims 3 issue
Hi. Im so sorry. But i have to correct something on this video. Sims 2 also has werewolfs. I think its on Sims 2 Pets. there is a wolf with glowing eyes and visit the player's lot. We can get bitten by it. Then we transform into a werewolf. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I like Sims 4 the best, but between the others, it's very close. Probably the open world of 3 puts it over the top
Both
Some would say that more packs is worse because more packs doesn't equal more content.
Good video. TS2 for me.
Sims 2 forever first for me👌
Sims 2 was the best from all I think. Because Sims looked like humans, you had deep gameplay.
What? Sims 2 sims look cartoony lol. Sims 3 sims are more realistic.
All in all I think I have to go with The Sims 3 is best
Although I personally like the look of TS2 more.
Werewolf’s actually were in the Sims 2 with pets.
u get more freeedom in ts3
Sims 3 online long loading cloud fot me gteatedt let doen. Sims 2 seperate town neighbourhoods loading drawback it's more customizable fun !
“I won’t cry much” 😂😂😂
The Sims 2: GOAT 🐐
The Sims 3: it’s alright.
World?
Open for Business and College was the best for me in Sims2.
how do you get such good quality in the sims 2?
Sims 4 should have been open world with jobas being away like sims 2 so that we could have a CAW like sims 2 but mixed with sims 3
Gonna be hard to watch this and put on lashes, but damn it, I'll try
Sims 2 was my first Sims game. So many memories of drowning school bullies in pools and building mansions for my Sim self. I never could get into 3 personally.
Well it's your opinion. But you were wrong about the Sims 3 trait system. Traits actually did impact the Sims and their actions. A coward sim fainted when he saw a burglar. Evil sims will laugh maniacally. Slobs will fart. You probably haven't played the game enough
@icohen1627 They said nothing about traits. What are you on about😂
Love both but sims 2 is my love
Sims 2 creeps me out 😰😰 Sims 3 is better 😉
Despite being closed world, I think Sims 2 is more similar to Sims 3 than either 1 or 4.
