The words convey resignation and clarity of purpose, but the instruments add an aching undercurrent of fear and grief and menace. Layers of storytelling, layers of sound, just beautiful work.

Love the visuals too, both funny, and darkly stylish. And how in the end Dave just sinks, casually. 😅Like a will-o-wisp, or a sinister inner voice steering you off your path, then vanishing like it was never there.

This is really cool. An excellent job! The production reminds me of elements of the 1975 Styx album Crystal Ball, whereon Tommy Shaw debuted, and also of the Shaw song “Boat on the River” from Cornerstone in 1979. Why yes I am old, although I was a kid when these came out. Old classic Styx, from the Curulewski Wooden Nickel years through Kilroy was Here, is the best Styx. Hint hint I think you could do wonders with covering Styx, and do not skip the really old stuff, some of it is genius.
Love the song and the music is perfect! Going to have to sift through it all for its meaning though.
On one hand, it seems cold as hell, but there also seems to be possibly a damn good reason for that coldness.
