Thanks! We will definitely explain everything we found in the log and stuff in the video where we tear it down. Already located the new motor so shouldn’t be down for too long :)
Hey mate I use to have plenty of failures related to the fuel system . Injectors and pumps all the time . I now use m1 upper cylinder lube , it’s an additive u add into your fuel . Like two stroke mix . never had a problem since .
12 Race nice. this isn’t straight methanol. It is 50% gasoline which acts as the lubricant. So the components have been performing great. The issue was clogged filters. We have had an issue of sugar developing even with the ethanol fuel we were using previously. It’s not a locking up of injectors or pumps or anything like that. We are going to try to change a few things and see if we can avoid it. But it’s 100% not the fault of the methanol fuel itself as this has always happened even with previous fuels.
@@Therendonfamilia yeah we don’t drain the fuels any more and don’t have the clogging issues . But we use to have to drain the fuels straight after or seizing injectors and pumps and fuel lines with sugar in .
12 Race what specific brand and product is it?. It prevents the sugar as well? I’m not aware of any top end lubes that say they handle that. I’ll give that a try because cleaning them out all the damn time is annoying.
Failures suck at the time but it's always a learning experience. Do you have any videos that explain more in depth the computer/electronics side of things that you have modded? I assume it's just some sort of replacement computer? Even if you give me some terms to search, that works for me. Good luck with the new engine; it looks like you have one picked out already!
Robert Rittenhouse yeah we are using a holley Hp ecu. They have a larger option called the dominator and they have more cost effective options called terminator x and terminator x max. All great ecus. We have some tech videos on my page if you look at the tuning playlist.
@@Therendonfamilia I'll check those videos out! Not interested in building or anything just seeing what kind of cool stuff is out there since that is more of my background. I didn't know that I liked drag racing until watching Murdas stream like a year ago! haha. Thanks for the reply.
I figured if a car went lean it would fall face down and you would catch it in time That sucker just spiked that makes me nervous lol New to the channel nice job on the vids👍🏻 What gear ratio you run ? Seems like you come out and bam! Into second . I just put a turbo on my car so it’s a whole new learning game ...
Boosted Cutlass lol yeah the faster you are consuming fuel the quicker it bites ya in the ass lol. It’s a 3.42 gear. It’s a 3 speed so 1st gear goes pretty quick normally but on marginal surfaces I tend to shift early into second to make the shift softer. The 1-2 at high rpm can be pretty abrupt and induce some spin that could carry away on a crappy surface. You can see a flame pop right at the dip at the 60 because it hits the limiter because it was spinning a bit
SlowerThanU thank you for the reply That totally makes sense with shifting! Nice gear! My car is heavy and I have 3.08 I was debating on going to 3.42 3.55 Just to get it out of the gate a little quicker but I also hear turbos love them long gears .. it’s a Sbc just a hobby /play toy I appreciate people like you posting what you’s go through 👍🏻 Thanks man!!
Hello slowerthanus, what type of filters are you using? I bought one from aeromotive that the filter element is called microglass. It is supposed to be used with alcohol fuels. Here is the part number: 12385
Jaime Torres I am using the holley filters. I am not a fan of them because they hang pretty small filter elements compared to the aeromotive I used to use. But the filter really isn’t the primary issue. Although I will take a look at that part number thanks. My main issue is the Debris developing in the tank and being passed through the filters the filters being smaller just make it more annoying because they clog quicker
@@Therendonfamilia I am also very interested in using methanol blend fuel, i´ve found this article maybe you will enjoy, they talk about some co-solvent alcohols needed, it ilooks it is not as easy to mix methanol with gasoline tho: www.methanol.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Blending-Handling-Bulletin-Final.pdf
Travis Sowell oh yes, dozens of times unfortunately lol. I check them frequently no matter what. But the filter catches all the crap. The injectors don’t get anymore crap in there since we went to a finer filter element a while back.
@@Therendonfamilia i am going through the sugar crap now. 5 of my 210s were clogged pretty bad flowing less than half of what the others flowed. I just bought some microglass 10 micron elements. I previously had 30 microns. I have been reading up a bunch on e85 corrosion and i think i will be trying some top end lube in the fuel. Supposedly it helps eliminate oxidation on aluminum.
Kiwi Boosted Garage it’s crazy and makes the racing pretty inefficient but damn it just adds something to the whole feel. I have so much fun there every time I go.
SlowerThanU they look like the best bunch of crazy dudes I wish I could be there....we have nothing like it here, I love how everyone gets invested and rides with there guy or car of choice it looks badass. Good luck with the truck too man....I didn’t catch it yet but if it was the fuel going lean I hope you get it worked, actually I seen enuff to know you guys will.👊🏼
boostismyfriend yes that is how hot 75-80deg ambient air is after being compressed to 25psi 🤷🏻♂️ IAT is not an indication of what is entering the chamber. It’s just an indication of what’s coming into the manifold. The methanol is being introduced in the runner before the chamber, so a sensor in the pipe or forward in the manifold will not see any temp decrease by the methanol from the injectors.
SlowerThanU I understand that, we run a 17th injector in friends car in the charge pipe, it’s controlled by boost , it alone cools the charge about 80 degrees
Roger Carlin turns out, it was not a fan lol. Fuel pressure dove, injectors couldn’t compensate fast enough. Was May fault for not checking the filters :(
Dave Miller yep, sure did. Filters clogged, pressure dropped. Injectors tried to compensate but couldn’t keep up. It was already hurt so I didn’t take much of an event like that.
SlowerThanU lmfaooo! Totally understandable! Just a little tid bit I heard from devan Vanderhoof in one of his videos, he says methanol is really corrosive to raw aluminum, and if you’re going to keep fuel in your tank, you may need to have the tank anodized inside to keep it from corroding, I’m assuming you’re having a white powder or gunk in your filters. My tank for the time being is factory style cobra tank, kept E85 in it all the time, I’ve never had one ounce of filter troubles, but my tank isn’t aluminum. What kind of IAT temp increase did you notice when you removed your intercooler? What boost and spark timing are you running at the top end?
