  • Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe in and study the Holy Bible as the word of God because it teaches about Jesus Christ and testifies of His divine role as the Son of God and Savior of the world.
    The Holy Bible is the word of God and testifies of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, as the Savior of the world. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints read and study the Bible in Church services, individually, and as families.
    What is unique about members of the Church is that they believe there are other records of holy scripture in addition to the Bible. The Bible is a record of God and Jesus Christ’s dealings in the Old World, primarily the Middle East. Another book of scripture used by members of the Church is the Book of Mormon, a record of people in the New World. Both the Bible and the Book of Mormon testify of Jesus Christ. They support and complement each other’s teachings.
    Both the Bible and Book of Mormon speak powerfully of God’s love. The testimonies of prophets from both sides of the earth confirm the love God has for all of His children, no matter where or how they live. Latter-day Saints are encouraged to study all of God’s words, apply what they’ve learned, and experience the peace and happiness that come from following God’s commandments.

      The Book of Mormon is a Companion to the bible.
      The Book of Mormon and the Bible work together to tell the story of Jesus
      The Book of Mormon is a book of scripture that details Godʼs teachings to people who lived in the ancient Americas. It serves as a companion to the Bible, reinforcing the witness of Jesus Christ, and adding new insights into His sacred mission.
      The Bible tells the story of Jesusʼs life and ministry in the Holy Land, from His birth to His resurrection. But in the Book of Mormon, we read of His visit to the Americas after He died and rose again. He taught the people there, blessed them, called people to serve in His name, and then ascended to heaven.
      Together, the Bible and the Book of Mormon tell a more complete story of Jesus Christ than either one could tell alone. When we read both books, we can gain a better understanding of Christʼs teachings and of Godʼs plan for our lives.

      1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
      2 The same was in the beginning with God.
      3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
      4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
      5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
      6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
      7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
      8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
      9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
      10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
      11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
      12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
      13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
      14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

      Hi @Abhay Sajan, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe the Bible and the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. Just like God spoke to Moses and Noah in the Bible, He also instructed His prophets in the Americas to keep a record of His teachings and laws. The Book of Mormon is true, and it can change your life and help you come unto Christ. If you haven't given it a try, we invite you to read it for yourself. I appreciate that you find truth in the Bible, but I should point out that the writings of the Bible indicate the opposite of what you said. Consider the words of Paul to Timothy, in 2 Timothy 3:16, where he said, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness". The final words of the apostle John, in John 21:25, were these: "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." Biblical writings also make reference to many books that have been lost and thus were not available when scholars compiled the Bible; you can find a list in this Bible Dictionary entry: ChurchOfJesusChrist.org/study/scriptures/bd/lost-books. God's mouth cannot be shut by man; while we have much to gain by studying His word in the Bible, Jesus Christ Himself quoted earlier scripture to teach us in Matthew 4:4 that we should live "by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Did you know that God has indeed given us other scripture? It is wonderful and helps us to have stronger faith in Jesus Christ.

    • @nathanbanks2935
      @nathanbanks2935 2 роки тому

      Chibi,
      There are many books written by Rabbis, Priests, Religious scholars etc, of many different faiths. I've seen nothing written in the Bible that says there is no other truths that can be written besides those contained in the Bible. The Book of Mormon, like the Bible contains very powerful truths about the Divinity of Jesus Christ, how he loved the world so much that he died for our sins, and rose again for us. Jesus taught that a house divided against itself cannot stand. It would be impossible for the Book of Mormon to be of the devil because it testifies so strongly of Christ. It's okay to question whether the Book of Mormon is true, but we should never forcefully deny it because we are denying Christ if we deny his book to a certain extent. Also do you think God approves of a legit up-to-date book on cardiology, and how to perform life-saving operations on people? A textbook on cardiology isn't the Bible, but it helps perform life-saving miracles for people. We shouldn't be so myopic to think that the Bible is the only true book that God approves of. In fact there are many good books we can read about history to learn from it as well.
      God bless you and your journey towards truth.

      The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ was written in Golden plates by a number of Prophets in an Egyptian language. These Prophets were called: Nephi,Jacob, Enos, Jarom,Omni, Mormon, Mosiah, Alma and Moroni. The last to add to the plates was a guy called Moroni who buried the plates. These plates were dug up centuries later by a guy named Joseph Smith who with the assistance of his best mate Oliver Cowdrey was able to translate what was written on the plates from Egyptian to English.

      Men of God and Jesus the Christ. Noah was saved by God, Lot and his family were saved by God. Only after Lot's wife disobeyed and looked back was she turned into a pillar of salt. How many times did God say "leave this place" (my words) and I will lead you and provide for and protect you? He said it to a worthy man. God told him how to build a ship that would be watertight and gave one man instructions for turning stone into glass so that the interior of the ship would not be dark. After a long journey, the family arrived in the New World. The Book of Mormon tells the story of his family and their descendants. Different individuals recorded life during their time, and their records were saved and a man named Mormon compiled the records. That is why it is called The Book of Mormon. Every verse in the Book of Mormon has been cross referenced to the Bible. You should check it out!

      The Book of Mormon was written by Israelites who left Israel and ventured to the new world. They wrote testimony to Christ and the things they experienced. Then later the plates it was written on was translated by Joseph Smith and those who helped. The english version is obviously translation, but of plates that are testiment and are actually purely translated.

    “Do Mormons believe in the Bible?” Without the Bible there would be no Book of Mormon. The Bible is the foundation the Book of Mormon rises out of and is built upon. We understand that God the father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are all separate and distinct individuals but are all one and unified in purpose. They work and depend on each other to bring pass the immortality and eternal life of man. The scriptures are the same in this sense. They are different and distinct books but they are also one and unified in purpose and depend upon each other to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man by teaching and testifying of god.

Maybe those long sessions and high-leveled classes didn't work out so great.

      @bballer2324ify 4 роки тому +1

      You realize that the Bible itself contradicted Revelation 22:18-19 right? It was a stand alone work. In fact many of the writings in the New Testament were written AFTER the Revelation was written? So, based on this logic, many New Testament writings, including the Gospel of John, must be thrown out and disregarded. It was a stamp and seal to the Book of Revelation itself. The Bible didn’t exist when it was written

    • @00Fisher00
      @00Fisher00 4 роки тому +1

      Kai, when John the Apostle wrote the book of Revelation, it was a distinct written work like all other biblical writings were. It wasn't until a few centuries after the death of Christ that they were compiled into a single volume which was called "tà biblía", which means "the books", and which we now call the Bible. Thus, anyone who read his words after he wrote them would understand that he was referring to his own book--the book of Revelation. Moses wrote essentially the same thing twice toward the end of his own writings in Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32, but it would be obviously wrong to say that we should then reject everything that came afterward. You might like to remember that the last thing John wrote was this: "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." (John 21:25)

      I see a LOT of people who use this scripture and yet have NO IDEA of what it means. They probably just heard it from a pastor who worships the Bible
      The problem with most "christians" nowadays is that they worship the bible... the Bible is their God and their ultimate authority, they have forgotten the 12 tribes of Israel and Christ's active work in bringing them together. They forget that Christ lives, and the preach "another gospel," the one which is not found in the Holy Bible.

    Many people in our day dismiss the Bible as being old fashioned or out of date. They couldn't be further from the truth as it shows what happens to people from the decisions they make, both good and bad. There are consequences to those decisions. There are blessings and punishments associated with all we do and think and every story of this wonderful book can be applied to our day.
    It's also surprising how much of the Bible actually talks about our day and warns us of the preparation needed before the Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
    When combined with the Book of Mormon all the false philosophies of our day are put to rest and the truth shines brightly for all who want to know it.

    2 Corinthians 13:1 is referring to the charges of sin against the Corinthians, not what is established as God’s Word. If you read all of Chapter 12 and 13, it’s clear. You can’t misuse scripture and use it as evidence for the Book of Mormon. I pray that God opens the eyes of everyone in your religion that they would return to the true gospel of Christ, one that is not determined by works or feelings but rather the sufficient saving grace of Jesus.

    • @00Fisher00
      @00Fisher00 Рік тому +1

      Rather than evidence for the Book of Mormon, it's just logically a statement about why it makes sense for God to use multiple sources to assert His truth. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ rejoice in the true gospel of Jesus Christ already. If you're going to pray for God to open our eyes, then you ought to start by finding out first what we're actually seeing. You ought to seek understanding first. Otherwise, you don't really know what to pray for.

    This is confusing. The Bible tells us the way for everyone who wants to be saved from death and sin. OK. If the Bible is all you need, why not stick to just the Bible? What can Joseph Smith provide, that the Bible cannot?
    Paul, in 2 Corinthians 13:1, talks about establishing what is going on in Corinth and reaching a decision (judging) on the situation of the church there. The context is a completely different one than what this video suggests. Nevertheless, going with your argument, the Bible by itself should be sufficient proof of Jesus' life, death and resurrection, as it is a collection of many different people's accounts of their experience of Jesus. That in itself would, logically, make the Book of Mormon superfluous. The Book of Mormon does not agree entirely with the Bible, but tries to modify and change its meaning. Doesn't the Bible say not to add anything to it (i.e. Book of Mormon)?

      Hi James, thanks for your questions. Have you read the Book of Mormon? We would recommend reading it before making a judgment about its value. As this video teaches, the Book of Mormon is not a replacement or substitute to the Bible, but a companion to it. Just as God spoke to Moses and Noah in the Bible, He also instructed His prophets in the Americas to keep a record of His teachings and laws, eventually gathered into one book by a prophet named Mormon. The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ, and we believe it is the word of God. James, additional scripture helps us to understand more. The Bible does not say to not add anything to it. There is a passage at the end of the Book of Revelation that states that no one should add to "this book", but the Bible had not yet been compiled into a single volume, so it's clear that John was referring to his book of the Revelation. Moses said something very similar way back in Deuteronomy (4:2 and 12:32, if I remember correctly). What did Isaiah provide that Moses did not? What did Jeremiah provide that the prophets before him did not? What did Peter or Paul provide that the Old Testament did not? The way you can know of what the Book of Mormon provides is by reading it for yourself. You will find that it is good and of great value, and that it complements well the writings of the Bible.

      Why would you complain about receiving more from God? More and more people do not believe in the Bible and organized religion. More people are becoming agnostic or atheist. The Book of Mormon teaches the EXACT same gospel as found in the Bible and was saved for our time to help and support the testimony in the Bible. It is here to convince more people that Jesus is the Christ.
      As it says in the Bible... the Bible and the Book of Mormon will come together and be one.
      The scripture is in Ezekiel 37 it says in part "Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand."

    This video claims that the Book of Mormon does not replace the OT and the NT but practically this is a lie. The LDS church teaches that portions of the Bible were mistranslated and left out, that you need the Book of Mormon to rightly interpret the Christians Scriptures. It is a huge fallacy on their part. For the Christian Scriptures to be true, then it has be right and accurate.

    • @JJSlone
      @JJSlone 2 роки тому

      Furthermore, the LDS position is a circular argument. Whatever disagrees with their books or prophets in the Christian Scriptures is brushed aside with their position that there are things that were mistranslated or left of them.

    • @00Fisher00
      @00Fisher00 Рік тому

      @@JJSlone There are a ton of disagreements across Christianity about the correct interpretation of the same passages of biblical scripture. Having additional scripture and the words of living prophets absolutely helps. The Book of Mormon certainly does not replace the Bible any more than the New Testament replaces the Old Testament. As to mistranslations, you can examine various translations and see for yourself that some simply aren't as valid as others. As to things being "left out", it's clear as we read through the books of the Bible that there were other books that are still unknown--essentially "lost"--because they are mentioned by name. We see it many times. All that being said, we (both members of the restored Church of Jesus Christ and other Christians) still find the available scripture of the Bible to be of great value.

      The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of course believes in miracles. It's awe-inspiring to hear about the parting of the Red Sea, and many other "grand," biblical miracles. I think the greatest miracles by far are ones that many of the people in the world think are the least glamorous and amazing. I believe that the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world are helping God perform his most amazing miracles. For example temples can help us to be sealed as families together to God for eternity, so there is no more death do you part. That is truly a miracle! The fact that so many church leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints answer the call to serve their fellow brothers and sisters, and God without a paycheck, or fanfare. When Jesus Christ performed miracles privately, he instructed them to tell no man. This reminds me of the many miracles I've seen in my life, some of which are too sacred to tell to a huge audience, unless I feel God's approval. How many of the mothers who belong to our church teach their children high moral values, which many people in the world think as outdated morality, which results in their children growing up to be highly successful people in both secular careers, and more especially in their integrity, and their desire to want to bless God and all mankind.
      God bless you brother!
      I hope this helps.

      Michael, as you learn more about the Bible itself you will find quite the opposite to be true. Do you know how we came to have the Bible? In ancient times, prophets recorded inspired writings, and each of these writings, or "books", was separate. Several centuries after the death of Christ, scholars gathered what writings they could find into one volume that they called tà biblía, which is Greek for "the books". The last book included was the Revelation of John the Apostle, and at the end of that book he included a warning that you referred to, wherein he cautioned people to not add to "these things" and "the book of this prophecy". However, when he wrote them, the Bible did not exist because it had not yet been compiled. Thus, it is clear that he was referring to his own book--Revelation. Moses gave a similar warning near the end of his writings in Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32, but of course that doesn't mean that we have to reject any of God's word that follows Deuteronomy. John also wrote an account of the life of Christ, called the book of John or "the Gospel according to St. John", which scholars generally agree was written later than the Revelation. John's final words were these: "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen." (John 21:25) The Book of Mormon contains additional books of scripture and you can know for yourself through prayer to God that the writings of the Book of Mormon are true scripture just as the writings of the Bible are. Please learn more about the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ. You will be greatly blessed for it.

      That scripture is only meant for the book of Revelations. It was not part of the Bible when it was written and it says not to about adding to the word of God but to the "prophecy" in revelations.

    Religions are defined & differ in:
    * a miracle
    * a diety that performed the miracle
    * a message (theology/dogma) of the miracle's significance
    * a holy text that records the miracle & message
    The 4 different Abrahamic religions are Judiasm, Christianity, Islam & Mormonism.
    Mormonism is not Christian anymore than Islam is not Christian. Both Mormons & Muslims follow a newer religion built on and succeeding Christianity in the same way that Christianity succeeded Judiasm.
    The religions of Mormonism & Islam includes keystones of Christianity-
    * the Christian holy text New Testament
    * the Christian diety Jesus of Nazareth
    * the Christian miracle virgin birth/resurrection
    * Christian theology of afterlife/heaven/hell
    - But both Mormons & Muslims believe in ADDITIONAL elements separate from the religion of
    Christanity-
    * deity (Moroni & Muhammad)
    * holy text (BOM & Koran)
    * miracles (JC in Mexico & Muhammad rising)
    * belief message (heaven has 4 planets & salvation is earned by action)
    So Mormons- quit calling yourselves "Christian". You're not Christian, you're Mormon.
    There's nothing wrong with believing J Smith found/wrote/received a gold book than it vanished as miraculously as it manifested. Its just wrong to call that belief "Christian". Its not- Its Anti Christ.

This video was posted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is the restored Church of Jesus Christ in modern times and is Christian in the fullest sense of the term. "Mormon" is the name of an ancient prophet; when used as a nickname for the Church, it's only a nickname. "Mormonism" really isn't anything. The modern Church of Jesus Christ has had its official name since 1838. When we become members of the Church of Jesus Christ through baptism and confirmation, we covenant with God to take upon ourselves the name of Christ and to follow Him. The Church of Jesus Christ has more similarities with many other Christian churches than it does with Islam, though Islam does also practice things like prayer and fasting. The Book of Mormon testifies powerfully of Jesus Christ as the Savior of all people, and this will be most obvious to you if you read it. To call God's prophets' testimonies of Christ "Anti Christ" is, of course, absurd. There are several other places where you've been inaccurate. I recommend that you seek understanding of others, rather than posting incorrect statements.
