    Glad to see you back. Thank you so much for the informative videos. My 11' Grand Cherokee had cam and lifter failure and thanks to your videos I was able to do the swap myself. I put in a non mds 6.4 cam, hellcat oil pump and hellcat lifters and had the tuning done by MMX. Just getting over the break in period now.

    Thank you Sky for making a build not so scary. I was able to change lifters on my 6.1 hemi because of you. I have been building up my tool collection for years. Soon will be attempting a camshaft upgrade myself. Time and space is a factor for now. You are appreciated!

    You taken me back to my HS Voc Tech days, three years welding in the shop. Mig, Tig, Arc etc. Somehow when ever I was Tig welding despite have those long leather gloves, my bare arm would touch the metal bench and I get that quick jolt of electrify. Fun times. Can't wait to see the finished product. I think you should fabricate a cross ram manifold for your next project. Two TB and long intake runners like the 60-61 cross ram setup, loved how those 4bbl carbs with the bronze air cleaners hung over the valve covers.

    Great job! I love to see people doing something different. By the way I've been told aluminum dust is not the best thing to breathe while cutting. You might want to wear a mask while cutting.

    Just wanna say thanks to the videos you referred me too. I installed a 6.4l cam w/ new lifters(MDS still), the high volume oil pump, the whole timing chain, the springs, rods, gaskets, seals, 180degree thermostat (instead of the 203degree),radiator, high output alternator, and really deep cleaned and painted everything. All because the help from your videos. The only problems I ran into are, I have to redo the timing cover seal(leaking) and some weird random leak that’s taking place basically under my drivers seat under the car, that is confusing a few different techs. But thanks, my 5.7l is working again without dishing out $4g’s to a shop for just labor.

    Glad to see you back sky. I'm pumped to see this build under way. As a welder for 13 years now, them welds look sound enough. Al can be very tricky and sensitive due to the oxide layer. I like to use a mix with helium when welding thicker Al. Cleanliness is key. You say it's nearly 100 degrees, your fighting that hydrogen in the humidity. Keep up the awesome work pal.

    If I may, get a good saber saw. I have a Makita JV2000. Have had it for ages. It is very easy to control as it is barrel body design with the power trigger being a long lever on the underside. Not a top handle, thus very easy to maneuver. I cut wood, metal and aluminum. To cut out those holes, it would have made life so much easier. And not as expensive as a plasma table. 😀

    I think a better way may have been weld the intake runners than uas a router with flush trim bit. Or even a round over bit. Aluminum cuts alot like wood. Most wood working tools work on aluminum.

    Ive always wanted to twin charge an engine the opposite way that most do because I think the rotors and case of a supercharger create too much restriction on the top end when feed with boosted air from turbos. I'd like to have the supercharger supply boosted air to the turbo(s) and then feed to the engine. I think the idea would make for good content in a head to head situation.

    For a plasma table I have seen other UA-camrs use an ArcDroid, I think that’s what it is, which is a much smaller, workbench mounted cutting machine. Maybe that could suit your needs?

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto  2 роки тому

      I saw that on the Grind Hard Plumbing channel. I think though there's a fairly cheap plasma table made by Langmuir systems, Gingium has one of those and I think I'd rather go that route. The arc droid still needs to have a cutting bed underneath it to work well. Does seem like a neat machine though.

  • @Rrottweiler
    @Rrottweiler 2 роки тому

    When weld aluminium, clean it just right before weld. I dont anymore remember exact time how fast oxide layer comes on aluminium, but its fast, like 15-30min. Now, why worry about oxide layer, it takes alot more heat to melt and poor weld, makes pores etc.

    Question: if you're creating the manifold from scratch, why wouldnt you just offset the supercharger forward and add a secondary belt system instead of going through all the accessory hastle?

    • @ReignitedAuto

      Space is the primary reason. I was trying to fit this thing under the stock hood. But more and more that's seeming very unlikely, so I should have gone full bore and made the intake with an intercooler and made it like a foot and a half tall! 😂

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto  Рік тому +1

      Technically to run the VVT timing cover you'd have to run a 17mm spacer between the oil pump and the front crank pulley. But really there's no reason to run a newer style timing cover if all you are doing is swapping cylinder heads. I'm just going with a crazy timing coverbecause it suits my particular project. 👍

    What size gasket did you end up going with for the eagle heads?

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto  2 роки тому

      I'll be posting a video about it somewhat soon, but I'm wimping out and just sticking an Eagle engine in there. I picked one up pretty cheap and so all I've got to do is gap the rings in this new engine and slap the supercharger on there. I'd like to use this engine in the configuration that I've got it in a naturally aspirated build, but I'd have to throw a set of stock piston rings back in it. No biggie.

    I've always been told tig welding is a tough skill to master. Looks like your getting good at it to me especially doing aluminum. Would doing it with a mig be any easier?

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto  2 роки тому

      I love TIG welding stainless, and mild steel is pretty straightforward, but man aluminum can be tricky. I got a chance to weld 3/16 plate today and it's so much easier already than the 1/4" or the 3/8". MIG welding aluminum is best left for industrial jobs, it looks really messy in my opinion and it's even harder to control your heat since there's no way to vary the amperage while you're welding. 👍

    I really enjoy your videos and especially those that are geared toward shade tree mechanics and those with limited skills and/or limited access to race shop equipment. For what it's worth, a video on how to install a mostly bolt-on supercharger (for the 5.7L hemi) would be far more valuable to me and perhaps a good chunk of your regular viewers. When my 2021 R/T shaker Challenger warranty is over this is the upgrade I will be seriously looking into. I suspect that many other viewers will be doing the same as this is probably the biggest bang for the buck upgrade that can be done on that engine. Unfortunately, the "major surgery" approach you are taking in this video would never work for me. Please consider this as your next project. Thanks for the great videos! I live in Portland and would have you do this upgrade for me (and make a video of it) in a heartbeat if you were doing client work in your shop.

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto  2 роки тому +2

      Frank I definitely hear what you're saying, and I would love to do a bolt on supercharger setup. Unfortunately it pretty much comes down to cost, since I don't have $7k to drop on a supercharger and make a video that will probably get $100 in return. But you're right that I do get a lot of requests for that video. If you do decide to pull the trigger on that I'd love to do the install. 👍
