I bet your dad used to play Civilization IV. This was the theme song for that game. It's the only game I ever sat through the entire menu song before playing. Easily the best theme song for a game ever. "Sogno di Volare" for Civilization VI is a close second.

I was about 17, had no internet and had just bought Civilization IV. I didn't play it on the first day because I would just leave it to loop "Baba Yetu". Even if I had hated the game (which I didn't) I would still say that it was money well spent because it introduced me to this beautiful and magical composition. Through this song I started to explore everything else Christopher Tin has made and it's all beautiful but this song sings to my soul even though I don't speak Swahili. A true masterpiece that transcends language and uplifts the soul.
I know for most people here its about the music without understanding any word in Swahili. For me this song its powerful because that's how we say the lord's prayer back home in Kenya. Now combine that with the arrangements, choir and vocals and I feel like I am in heaven!

Only 2 other games catch my ear for how they sound and that was the Halo Trilogy and Mass Effect. @@warriorprincessharmony When performing music, there's a difference between performing and putting emotion, or your soul into it, and the audience, when paying attention, can feel it. If you look at some small choirs, you can see those that are just performing, but when you look at the ones that truly love what they are doing and performing, you can just tell in their body language. That's what @BachsEnkel was referring to. You can tell the singers are actually pouring their hearts out into performing and truly praying rather than just singing.

Back in 2017, Saint Louis Park High School choir in Saint Louis Park Minnesota had the wonderful opportunity to perform this song at Carnegie Hall with Christopher. I unfortunately never made it there. I am living though these beautiful people. What an opportunity. What a beautiful moment to share with so many people. I have bn exposed to music pretty much since I knew my self and I dream of music since I was young. I have just discovered your music and I love it. I feel it in my spirit and in my blood it flows. The best piece I love is baba yetu, waloyo yamoni, and sogno di Volare. If I had a wish I would like his take in arranging the kenya national anthem song( its a prayer too in both swahili). Baba Yetu is my favorite video game theme of all time. One time during an African art history class I took in college, the professor played this song before the start of class and asked us if anyone recognized it. Of course, my hand shot up and I explained every bit of trivia I knew about it and finished by saying, "It's my favorite theme of all time!" A long time ago, in 2005 I bought a disc with a game called "Civilization IV". I brought it home, imagined how I would be conquering the world while the game was installing. Then I launched the game and... sat there for good two hours, just listening and looking at our beautiful planet. That was some experience. Hats down for Christopher =)

Brilliant composition! Five voices in harmony - soprano, mezzo soprano, alto, tenor & bass. Some parts are difficult because of sustained 8 counts no breathing. The conductor looks like he owned the piece. Very good conducting!

I was about 17, had no internet and had just bought Civilization IV. I didn't play it on the first day because I would just leave it to loop "Baba Yetu". Even if I had hated the game (which I didn't) I would still say that it was money well spent because it introduced me to this beautiful and magical composition. Through this song I started to explore everything else Christopher Tin has made and it's all beautiful but this song sings to my soul even though I don't speak Swahili. A true masterpiece that transcends language and uplifts the soul.
I know for most people here its about the music without understanding any word in Swahili. For me this song its powerful because that's how we say the lord's prayer back home in Kenya. Now combine that with the arrangements, choir and vocals and I feel like I am in heaven!

If you look at some small choirs, you can see those that are just performing, but when you look at the ones that truly love what they are doing and performing, you can just tell in their body language. That's what @BachsEnkel was referring to. You can tell the singers are actually pouring their hearts out into performing and truly praying rather than just singing.

Back in 2017, Saint Louis Park High School choir in Saint Louis Park Minnesota had the wonderful opportunity to perform this song at Carnegie Hall with Christopher. I unfortunately never made it there. I am living though these beautiful people. What an opportunity. What a beautiful moment to share with so many people. The best piece I love is baba yetu, waloyo yamoni, and sogno di Volare. If I had a wish I would like his take in arranging the kenya national anthem song( its a prayer too in both swahili). One time during an African art history class I took in college, the professor played this song before the start of class and asked us if anyone recognized it. Of course, my hand shot up and I explained every bit of trivia I knew about it and finished by saying, "It's my favorite theme of all time!" If there are millions of people on antidepressant and anxiety medication, then there are still millions of anxious and depressed people. Masking a symptom with a drug is not healing and so the fullness of the spirit and fruits of the spirit are lost and life looses joy and natural pleasure. This is why spiritism/pharmakia cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven and neither can the sinners.

Brilliant composition! Five voices in harmony - soprano, mezzo soprano, alto, tenor & bass. Some parts are difficult because of sustained 8 counts no breathing. The conductor looks like he owned the piece. Very good conducting!
