Everything will be alright until Ghandi nukes you. LOL, but this is one of the top 1% of video game scores. Only 2 other games catch my ear for how they sound and that was the Halo Trilogy and Mass Effect. Heck I haven't played Civilization IV, but heard this song at Video Games Live when I was younger at Wolf Trap Farm Park in Vienna, VA and has since been in a regular playlist for me to listen in my cars.

I bet your dad used to play Civilization IV. This was the theme song for that game. It's the only game I ever sat through the entire menu song before playing. Easily the best theme song for a game ever. "Sogno di Volare" for Civilization VI is a close second.

I know for most people here its about the music without understanding any word in Swahili. For me this song its powerful because that's how we say the lord's prayer back home in Kenya. Now combine that with the arrangements, choir and vocals and I feel like I am in heaven!

I was about 17, had no internet and had just bought Civilization IV. I didn't play it on the first day because I would just leave it to loop "Baba Yetu". Even if I had hated the game (which I didn't) I would still say that it was money well spent because it introduced me to this beautiful and magical composition. Through this song I started to explore everything else Christopher Tin has made and it's all beautiful but this song sings to my soul even though I don't speak Swahili. A true masterpiece that transcends language and uplifts the soul.
This song showed up one evening during an episode of deep depression. I had been struggling to pray. I clicked on the song, and listened to it repeatedly. I was in choir for 8 years of my life and this is the single most thrilling and empowering song we ever got the privilege to sing. Back in 2017, Saint Louis Park High School choir in Saint Louis Park Minnesota had the wonderful opportunity to perform this song at Carnegie Hall with Christopher. I unfortunately never made it there. I am living though these beautiful people. What an opportunity. What a beautiful moment to share with so many people. If you look at some small choirs, you can see those that are just performing, but when you look at the ones that truly love what they are doing and performing, you can just tell in their body language. That's what @BachsEnkel was referring to. You can tell the singers are actually pouring their hearts out into performing and truly praying rather than just singing.

I'm in a Lutheran choir and we are singing this piece next Saturday in a Lutheran choir meetup. My favorite memory about Civilization Revolution was the goody hut. If you hover the cursor over the village , you will get different songs from different Civilizations. I always paused the cursor when it played this song.. My wife loved this song. She would come in and do a little dance to it when I played it. I was about 17, had no internet and had just bought Civilization IV. I didn't play it on the first day because I would just leave it to loop "Baba Yetu". Even if I had hated the game (which I didn't) I would still say that it was money well spent because it introduced me to this beautiful and magical composition. Through this song I started to explore everything else Christopher Tin has made and it's all beautiful but this song sings to my soul even though I don't speak Swahili. A true masterpiece that transcends language and uplifts the soul.

If you look at some small choirs, you can see those that are just performing, but when you look at the ones that truly love what they are doing and performing, you can just tell in their body language. That's what @BachsEnkel was referring to. You can tell the singers are actually pouring their hearts out into performing and truly praying rather than just singing.

I'm in a Lutheran choir and we are singing this piece next Saturday in a Lutheran choir meetup. This song is powerful in such way that in our rehearsals there was often someone bursting into tears from the emotion. I myself have cried a few times. Our conductor has to hold his tears at times. My favorite memory about Civilization Revolution was the goody hut. If you hover the cursor over the village , you will get different songs from different Civilizations. I always paused the cursor when it played this song.. My wife loved this song. She would come in and do a little dance to it when I played it. Unfortunately she passed away in 2013 at 27, so, I dance for her now.

( No more death is referring to death of spirit, because The Holy Spirit is quashed by wars, abuse, sin, hurt, slavery and oppression etc which take away peace and happiness and fall short of God's Love causing grief, pain, illness, sickness and death of the spirit leading to death of happiness and joy leading to depression, anxiety and sicknesses that in time lead to sickness and physical death. )
If there are millions of people on antidepressant and anxiety medication, then there are still millions of anxious and depressed people. Masking a symptom with a drug is not healing and so the fullness of the spirit and fruits of the spirit are lost and life looses joy and natural pleasure. I speak swahili and I grew up saying our Lord's before I went to school courtesy of my late grandmother. I have bn exposed to music pretty much since I knew my self and I dream of music since I was young. I have just discovered your music and I love it. I feel it in my spirit and in my blood it flows. The best piece I love is baba yetu, waloyo yamoni, and sogno di Volare. If I had a wish I would like his take in arranging the kenya national anthem song( its a prayer too in both swahili).
