Steve Lukather is the king of the guitar phrase.
As a songwriter his ear for musical arrangements is incredible. So deceptively simple sounding and yet filled with complicated counter melodies,and when it comes to playing a solo he's not just a phrasing berserker his choice of tone is always dead nuts perfection.
Thank you Mr LUKATHER for the inspiration to become a guitar player.

This sounds more 1990's - his first solo-album from 1989 is rather 80's sounding, less of my taste, his typical, great solo sound (and great songwriting) starts with Candyman (1994) and Luke (1997)
Beautiful song! It makes me think of my husband, whom I met in high school 1985. I went away to college in ‘86, lived my life then 32 years later, we reconnected by chance. I love you, D!

This new song comes to you from a guy who has absolutely nothing left to prove in the music business . One of the most respected musicians on the planet , and he's hit another one out of the park . Many guys after a few decades of creative work tend to run the well dry of ideas for songs , but Mr. Lukather has shown his creative genius again , and again . I'm not much of a ballad lover , but this was great imo .

With all due respect to all TOTO singers throughout the band-history: Steve's vocals are the real deal for me. Especially as he has not even lost the tiniest notch of singing quality. Great song, even greater singing, a video coming straight out of primary-school tech-class, garnished with a tasty solo = AWESOME!

Steve Lukather is the best musician ever. I seriously still can’t believe I met him in 2018 Also can’t believe in 2018 I went out to LA for a business trip with my Dad and he actually starred him in an audio book.

Well Steve, a really nice way to put your well deserved current happiness into this song. An homage to your new love. How else in the world could a musician as you find a better way to express your happiness, than writing a beautiful emotional song!? After all the hard tests in life you and your friends had to face, losing two of your band members, best buddies and closest friends. For sure it couldn't be much harder. And I know what I am talking about, I had to face exactly the same in the 90ies, while in a span of three years I also lost two of my band members and best friends (27 and 33). Tragically both of them died of a brain tumor. So, I am writing here to you, to say thank you, in particular for your album "Candy Man" which helped me a lot to get through this struggle somehow. I did not count how often I listened to it at that time. God bless you and your beloved ones! Wishing you a long lasting, healthy "Golden October" of your life! Regards DimiZ
