- Welcome to my MOBILITY INSIDER's walk-around at IAA in Munich on September 4th, 2023, Press Day 1.

Great to have a car & mobility exhibition again after Covid-19 disrupted the traditional car shows in a.o. Geneva.
At this years IAA it was remarkable to see the strong presence of the Chinese manufacturers, both car OEMs and the suppliers. I was also very impressed by CATL's battery technology and BYD's convincing display. It is game on for the established car manufacturers - in the end this will be good news for the consumer as the choice gets bigger, the technology better and prices lower.
One of the highlights at IAA was the revamped Tesla Model 3, offering more product content, technology updates, design changes and very competitive pricing.
Also great to see Opel, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Mercedes gearing up their product launches. And disappointing that there was virtually no presence by the Japanese manufacturers.

what about NIO? didn't see it in this video and it's the best of the chinese brands.
Hi, I am not so convinced by NIO's strategy - the battery swap solution makes no sense with the upcoming technology batteries offer or will soon offer in terms of range and charging speed. Furthermore, NIO is hugely lossmaking and rather small for Chinese standards, but hey, let us see if NIO survives. The cars are nice.
NIO offers fast battery charging ALSO, not just battery swapping. And you can buy the car without batteries and rent the battery thus making the car more affordable, not more expensive. Plus, batteries will surely become smaller over time making the process even better.@@morten_hannesbo
