Hallelujah! Resurrection of the Daleks gradually grew on me so much that it eventually overtook other faves to become my favourite story of the lot a few years ago. Glad to hear it getting some love. And yes, its incredibly re watchable. I’ve watched it more than almost any other. It’s complexity makes it endlessly interesting like a grand puzzle of the mind.
* Resurrection - not leftfield, brill choice for Top 10. One of my fave Dalek stories. * The War Machines (1966 btw!) has always given me a first Doctor / UNIT vibe. * I always think of Remembrance as THE 25th anniversary story. Like you said, fuck Silver Nemesis. Just coz it was broadcast on 23/11/88 doesn’t mean jack given it’s such a shit story! * The Invasion defo one of my fave Troughton stories too! The direction, the location stuff, Vaughn, the music, everything. * Spearhead - always enjoyable, but for me also kinda ‘m’eh’ * City of Death - always a classic, end of. * Earthshock - don’t dislike it, but never been a huge fan of it like some are, though I defo recognise its strengths. * Power - bring it! Surprised myself that I sat through a 6 part animation without losing interest. Would love to see the missing first ep, if not the rest. * Androzani - still amazing - and I first watched it brand new as a 10 year old 37 years ago! * Genesis - always #1 We’re sort of like twins! A little bit. Not all the time, but sometimes. Occasionally. The odd moment. You get what I mean 😜
Great video! While I don’t have all of these stories in my own top 10, they are all very good stories except earthshock which I’m really not a fan of. My current top 3 is The War Games, The Green Death and The Seeds Of Doom
10. The Talons of Weng-Chiang 9. Kinda 7. The Web Of Fear 6. The Seeds of Doom 5. Remembrance of the Daleks 4. Inferno 3. The Caves of Androzani 2. Fury From The Deep 1. The War Games

The Seeds of Doom 10. Ambassadors of Death 11. The Three Doctors Obviously huge Patrick Troughton fanboy. And glad to see some love for War Machines, great story.
Totally agree on Genesis. I'd have to think on it a bit but two stories you didn't mention that I really liked were Pyramids of Mars and Enemy of the World (because Patrick was actually better as Salamander I thought).
A fantastic list. Can't disagree with any of your choices and now I no longer feel an emotional attachment to the modern series I really enjoy video posts like this.
Have you ever seen the movie 80's blockbuster Lifeforce? It's a Sci-fi/horror/action movie that's like an 80's Michael Bay Doctor Who movie about a British/American voyage who bring back a vampire alien. Collin Firth's brother is in it as well as Patrick Stewart, is directed by the guy who made Poltergeist and has a great ramping from a slow burn horror movie into a British Michael Bay zombie movie with a big budget alien takeover of London. I think you'd love it.
10: Terror Of The Autons 9: The Greatest Show In The Galaxy 8: Marco Polo 7: City Of Death 6: Earthshock 5: Genesis Of The Daleks 4: Tomb Of The Cybermen 3: Vengeance On Varos 2: The Curse Of Fenric 1: Remebrance Of The Daleks
I watched War Machines recently for the very first time and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Some decent acting, production design and an excellent script which I think was ahead of its time. Terrific stuff. My personal top 10 (in no particular order): The Web of Fear Talons of Weng Chiang Robots of Death Remembrance Of The Daleks Curse of Fenric Caves of Androzani Resurrection of The Daleks Ghost Light Horror of Fang Rock City of Death
My list is 1. Genesis of the Daleks 2. The Caves of Androzani 3. Earthshock 4. Inferno 5. Resurrection of the Daleks 6. Attack of the Cybermen 7. Pyramids of Mars 8. City of Death 9. The Greatest Show in the Galaxy 10. An Unearthly Child
10. Terror Of The Zygons 9. The Time Meddler 8. Curse of Fenric 7. Pyramids of Mars 6. Survival 5. The Invasion 4. Caves of Androzani 3. Spearhead From Space 2. Genesis of the Daleks 1. City of Death
10. Inferno 9. Revelation of the Daleks 8. The Hand of Fear 7. The War Games 6. Vengeance on Varos 5. City of Death 4. Caves of Androzani 3. Planet of the Spiders 2. The Curse of Fenric 1. Genesis of the Daleks
Good to see we share a lot of the same favourites, some of others (the War Machines, Earthshock) are also in and around the top 20 so great to see some War Machines love 1. City of Death 2. Fury from the Deep 3. Resurrection of the Daleks 4. Caves of Androzani 5. Curse of Fenric 6. Paradise Towers (I know, I know) 7. Remembrance of the Daleks 8.The Invasion 9. Frontier in Space (Purely on Delgado's performance alone) 10. Spearhead from Space
I agree with you on that point. I did not do so, but because Tom Baker is my favourite Doctor, and he was the longest serving classic Who Doctor, in terms of both numbers of seasons and numbers of stories, it would not be difficult for me to have a Top Ten Classic Who stories completely drawn from the Fourth Doctor's Era!
10 The Three Doctors 09 Revelation of the Daleks 08 The Brain of Morbius 07 The Caves of Androzani 06 Earthshock 05 Genesis of the Daleks 04 The Ark in Space 03 Horror of Fang Rock 02 The Stones of Blood 01 The Talons of Weng-Chiang
10. Pyramids of Mars 9. The Daemons 8. The Curse of Peladon 7. Remembrance of the Daleks 6. The Talons of Weng Chiang 5. The Seeds of Doom 4. Death to the Daleks 3. Carnival of Monsters 2. Genesis of the Daleks 1. The Ark in Space
1 caves of androzani 2 power of the Daleks 3 Genesis of the Daleks 4 Talons of Weng Chiang 5 war games Those are the ones off the top of my head that really stand above the rest, might swap power with caves depending on my mood, it is that amazing. Interesting that we have the same top three but in a different order (I felt genesis was a bit too long)
My favorite episodes are the ones where there’s some complicated conflict going on between characters and the doctor just stumbles into it, it really makes me feel like I’ve entered a living breathing world, that’s why I love power and caves so much
The humour in City of Death works because it's a story that doesn't take itself too seriously to begin with. Try and combine it with a Terry Nation script like in Destiny of the Daleks and you have something that is tonally all over the place
I don't know if I could list 10 I have faves for various reasons bot seen enough of the 60s and not seen all of pertwee. Pyramids of mars death to the Daleks and caves of androzani the talons of weneg Chiang renemberrnce of the daleks fenric 5 doctors just so many
Yesss, glad to see someone else appreciate Power of the Daleks! Personally, I feel it portrays the Daleks at their creepiest. Also, I feel it's at least partially where both Dalek and Victory of the Daleks from Modern Who got their inspiration from, because both episodes have certain strong similarities to Power. And no, I'm not comparing Dalek to Victory Of The Daleks. Dalek is superior by *far*.
Biggest faller over the years for me is definitely Inferno. When I was a teenager it was the coolest classic story going in my mind, now I think its... Okay? Nice to see the cast having fun in alternative roles and a cool filming location on the exteriors but no way is there 7 episodes worth of content there and the script and some of the characters (Greg and Petra) are really quite bland. Primords are genuinely such a bad and redundant monster too. Biggest riser for me is Enlightenment. I absolutely love this story and I've appreciated it more with every watch. Genuinely on the table of discussion along with Caves and Earthshock for best Davison story for me.
My choices 1.The Curse of Fenric 2.The War Games 3.Genesis of the Daleks 4.City of Death 5.The Deadly Assassin 6.The Five Doctors 7.The Power of the Daleks 8.The Enemy of the World 9.Shada 10.Invasion of the Dinosaurs
Curse of Fenric has to be in there for me, I think because its in an unloved era it gets often overlooked, the book is even better and gives a bit more depth to it
what's interesting about Caves is the only person who wins is Krau Timmin but she's been complicit in all Morgus's evil. She won't survive long. Or maybe she will. Who can say?
My Top 10 10: The Curse of Fenric 9: Vengeance on Varos 8: The Aztecs 7: Inferno 6: City of Death 5: Earthshock 4: Pyramids of Mars 3: Genesis of the Daleks 2: Tomb of the Cybermen 1: Remembrance of the Daleks
1. War Games 2. Genesis of the daleks 3. Caves of Androzani 4. Remembrance of the Daleks 5. Seeds of Doom 6. Inferno 7. Talons of Weng Chiang 8. City of Death 9. Brain of Morbius 10. Vengeance on Varos
This kinda changes a bit, but currently off the top of my head: 10. Inferno 9. The Curse of Fenric 8. Earthshock 7. Spearhead from Space 6. Tomb of the Cybermen 5. Remembrance of the Daleks 4. Pyramids of Mars 3. Genesis of the Daleks 2. City of Death 1. The Caves of Androzani
My 10 favorites are (in no particular order): 1) Deadly Assassin 2) City of Death 3) The Invasion 4) Genesis of the Daleks 5) The Face of Evil 6) The Daemons 7) The Sun Makers 8) The Tomb of the Cybermen 9) Resurrection of the Daleks 10) Spearhead From Space
Just ordered Power of the Daleks on the strength of your recommendation! Bought the first couple of episodes on Britbox but too expensive to buy the whole series. Xmas viewing sorted
War Machines - an interesting choice. I've always liked this story an, while I probably wouldn't put it in my top 10, I find the general consensus that it's not a good story to be odd. It's basically a prototype UNIT story, and that can't be a bad thing! My ten: 10. Evil of the Daleks 9. Terror of the Zygons 8. Dalek Masterplan 7. Seeds of Doom 6. Pyramids of Mars 5. Inferno 4. Talons of Weng-Chiang 3. City of Death 2. Caves of Androzani 1. Genesis of the Daleks
Great choices. A few of my favourites you didn’t have on your list are Evil Of The Daleks. The Romans. Talons Of Weng Chiangmai. Kinda. Vengeance On Varos. The Curse Of Fenric. Inferno.
Now I've got some starting points for if I want to do another Britbox Classic Who binge, thanks. Hopefully Play Store on my device will start working again so I can redownload it (but if it doesn't, I could always do a New Who nostalgia binge).
I’m going to go with _The Sontaran Experiment._ Gorgeous location filming, wonderful little tale with a compact two-part narrative, a brutal and sadistic alien, some legitimately horrific scenarios, and great performances from the primary and guest cast alike, with Tom Baker being a bit more serious and not quite as irreverent as he would become later on during his tenure. I agree on _Resurrection of the Daleks._ It does admittedly suffer for some poor special effects, tattered-looking Dalek props and generally hurried production but the location work on the London docks / Butler’s Wharf makes up for a lot of that, and it feels ‘good’ to see a story in which the Doctor is somewhat powerless against his deadliest foes and ultimately can only achieve _some_ good, at a great personal cost and with much collateral damage around him. When the replicant policemen are pursuing Tegan and just casually, callously shoot a guy busying himself with a metal detector on the Thames’ embankment, because she looked at him . . . _that_ must be the most chilling death in _Doctor Who._ So-called ‘Nu-Who’ _wouldn’t dare_ to try to recreate that kind of bleak, grim authenticity, and as much as I love it and understand why it has to be more ‘family-friendly’ to survive the contemporary TV climate, I yearn for that horrific naturalism that classic _Doctor Who_ more than occasionally dabbled in. A lot of the problems with _Resurrection_ stem from a certain incongruity between unconvincing space-sets and bad / aging props, v. the wonderful gritty realism of the London wharves / warehouse settings, I think.
Some really good picks! For me Seeds of Doom used to be in my top five and the Deadly Assassin was always my number one favorite. Now Seeds of Doom is number one and Deadly is in the top five. Planet of Evil used to be one of my least favorite Tom stories and now I absolutely love it. I can’t wait for your least favorite video. I’m wondering if the Leisure Hive has moved up at all
1. The caves of androzoni 2. Face of evil 3. Web of fear 4. Inferno 5. Pyramids of mars 6. Carnival of monsters 7. Talons of weng chiang 8. Brain of morbius 9. Frontier in space 10. The time meddler
10 the ark in space 9 the talents of weng-chain 8 tomb of the cybermen 7 the invasion 6 remembrance of the daleks 5 tenth planet 4 vengeance on varos 3 genesis of the daleks 2 city of death 1 caves of androzani
One of my favourites is Dr Who & The Silurians. Partly for the story itself, but mainly for the fact that the title annoys most of fandom 😃 (And yes, the character is called ‘Dr Who’)
To me, I personally think dont think Genesis of the Daleks (Although I deeply commend it) is the best doctor who episode. To me, I despise it because it messed up the Daleks' Origin. To me, I think it's one of the worst out there
Im going to mskr a point of telling as many hardore dr fans, about how much i absolutely love the liesure hive. Next t thing you know the leisure hive will be seen as a hiddrn gem. 😅
Anyone who wants yo watch classic Who can do so kegally on Daily Motion
One caveat. Lots of adverts

The Daley Master Plan? It failed, he was second in the BBC SPOTY. Still, he and Matty did get a gold

* Spearhead - always enjoyable, but for me also kinda ‘m’eh’
* City of Death - always a classic, end of.
* Genesis - always #1
We’re sort of like twins! A little bit. Not all the time, but sometimes. Occasionally. The odd moment. You get what I mean 😜
Great video! While I don’t have all of these stories in my own top 10, they are all very good stories except earthshock which I’m really not a fan of. My current top 3 is The War Games, The Green Death and The Seeds Of Doom

also a great list!
Totally agree on Genesis. I'd have to think on it a bit but two stories you didn't mention that I really liked were Pyramids of Mars and Enemy of the World (because Patrick was actually better as Salamander I thought).
Happy Christmas Alex!
Love the jacket
Some of My favorites
Talons of weng chiang
Survival
Rememberance of the Daleks
Keys of Marinus
Robots of death

10. Spearhead from Space
Think more under rated then top 10 but I tell you what, The Android Invasion wouldn’t be far from my top 10!
100% agree, I love that one
It is so hard to come up with a top ten list for classic Doctor Who. Genesis of the Daleks must always be on any top ten.
@@Epsilon1Zeta Oh I know. Jon Pertwee is my favorite, but Tom Baker is right on his heels.
Nobody seems to like 'The Stones of Blood' except for me !....cheers.
I love Stones Of Blood! Wouldn't put it top 10 though
Stones of Blood is in my Top Ten!
10 The Three Doctors
09 Revelation of the Daleks
08 The Brain of Morbius
07 The Caves of Androzani
06 Earthshock
05 Genesis of the Daleks
04 The Ark in Space
03 Horror of Fang Rock
02 The Stones of Blood
01 The Talons of Weng-Chiang
I've always felt The War Machines was the first "modern" story from a production standpoint, and the overall feel.
10. Pyramids of Mars
9. The Daemons
8. The Curse of Peladon
7. Remembrance of the Daleks
6. The Talons of Weng Chiang
5. The Seeds of Doom
4. Death to the Daleks
3. Carnival of Monsters
2. Genesis of the Daleks
1. The Ark in Space
1 caves of androzani
2 power of the Daleks
3 Genesis of the Daleks
4 Talons of Weng Chiang
5 war games
Those are the ones off the top of my head that really stand above the rest, might swap power with caves depending on my mood, it is that amazing. Interesting that we have the same top three but in a different order (I felt genesis was a bit too long)
My favorite episodes are the ones where there’s some complicated conflict going on between characters and the doctor just stumbles into it, it really makes me feel like I’ve entered a living breathing world, that’s why I love power and caves so much
I love your list Wingy!
Top 5
5. Ghost light
4. The war games
3. City of death
2. Caves of androzani
1. Curse of fenric
Love the tree merry Christmas
The humour in City of Death works because it's a story that doesn't take itself too seriously to begin with. Try and combine it with a Terry Nation script like in Destiny of the Daleks and you have something that is tonally all over the place
Enemy of the World is my favourite classic story!
Enightenment is such an underrated story.
Inferno is actually my least favourite of S7. Ambassadors and Silurians I found to be far better.
Enlightenment is a favourite of mine too
Are you doing an updated version of Of top 10 worst classic doctor who stories
My choices
1.The Curse of Fenric
2.The War Games
3.Genesis of the Daleks
4.City of Death
5.The Deadly Assassin
6.The Five Doctors
7.The Power of the Daleks
8.The Enemy of the World
9.Shada
10.Invasion of the Dinosaurs
Resurrection is my favourite classic. It’s absolutely brutal. Sensational story.
My Top 10
10: The Curse of Fenric
9: Vengeance on Varos
8: The Aztecs
7: Inferno
6: City of Death
5: Earthshock
4: Pyramids of Mars
3: Genesis of the Daleks
2: Tomb of the Cybermen
1: Remembrance of the Daleks

9) Resurrection of the Daleks
10) Spearhead From Space
Just ordered Power of the Daleks on the strength of your recommendation! Bought the first couple of episodes on Britbox but too expensive to buy the whole series. Xmas viewing sorted
War Machines - an interesting choice. I've always liked this story an, while I probably wouldn't put it in my top 10, I find the general consensus that it's not a good story to be odd. It's basically a prototype UNIT story, and that can't be a bad thing!
My ten:
10. Evil of the Daleks
9. Terror of the Zygons
8. Dalek Masterplan
7. Seeds of Doom
6. Pyramids of Mars
5. Inferno
4. Talons of Weng-Chiang
3. City of Death
2. Caves of Androzani
1. Genesis of the Daleks
Great choices. A few of my favourites you didn’t have on your list are Evil Of The Daleks. The Romans. Talons Of Weng Chiangmai. Kinda. Vengeance On Varos. The Curse Of Fenric. Inferno.
Top 10 One-Off Characters: Could imagine Duggan and the Base Team from The Satan Pit making that list.
I’m wondering if the Leisure Hive has moved up at all
Black Orchid should be in the Top 3 for me if not #1 for WORST!
my fav is robots of death
A great list
1. The caves of androzoni
2. Face of evil
3. Web of fear
4. Inferno
5. Pyramids of mars
6. Carnival of monsters
7. Talons of weng chiang
8. Brain of morbius
9. Frontier in space
10. The time meddler
Resurrection far better than Remembrance. It just feels epic.Just wish it was a 6 parter.
"I love Tegan's exit."
Come on now, don't get coarse.
You know Caves of Androzani is a really good episode when it's shocking that someone ranks it as the second best instead of the best.
Hard for me to see "The War Machines" as better than "The Time Meddler", "The Daleks", "Keys to Marinus" and "The Aztecs".
Wingy you always up load a video when I'm at the gym it's starting to freak me out
Finally! Some love for the Resurrection of the Daleks!!! Personally my favorite Peter Davidson episode! Fantastic video and happy holidays!
Out of your top ten which one would you watch if you haven't watched classic doctor who before
Genesis Of The Daleks
@@WingyMedia I saw that when it was first broadcast and I was very young back then.

8 tomb of the cybermen
7 the invasion
6 remembrance of the daleks
5 tenth planet
4 vengeance on varos
3 genesis of the daleks
2 city of death
1 caves of androzani
One of my favourites is Dr Who & The Silurians. Partly for the story itself, but mainly for the fact that the title annoys most of fandom 😃
(And yes, the character is called ‘Dr Who’)
Do you ever think that the of Rassillion started the Time War??? Could be... He blew up Skaro.........
No Ark in Space? Planet of the Spiders? Pyramids of Mars? In fact no Sara Jane story at all? Hand of Fear are you effing kidding me?
number 1 pal
@@anajuni5800 oops sorry buddy
No Pyramids of Mars? WTF?
To me, I personally think dont think Genesis of the Daleks (Although I deeply commend it) is the best doctor who episode. To me, I despise it because it messed up the Daleks' Origin. To me, I think it's one of the worst out there
The amount of people in these comments with Talons in their lists is just, 😬
I know this isn't relevant, but when will you're review for Spider-Man: No Way Home coming out?
When I see it
@@WingyMedia Okay, no rush or anything. Sorry, just got excited after seeing the film.
Am I the only Who fan who finds Genesis too obvious and slow?

Next t thing you know the leisure hive will be seen as a hiddrn gem. 😅
