100% agreement. The song has been running for almost 2 weeks in a continuous loop. I can't get this fantastic song out of my head. English is not my mother tongue now, but the song touches me more than Stevie can imagine. Please God show them the way. What a statement, so fitting in this so terrible terrible time. What I did not know is that Stevie wrote this song already in 2008. Thank you for your great fantastic review. Thumbs Up! Take care and safe. Regards from Bavaria
I'll be honest. This is my first time hearing Stevie Nicks (I heard a lot about her beforehand), and I'm hooked. Such a gorgeous voice from her, and such great commentary from you!
Well if you want some more recommendations, anything with her from the early days of Fleetwood Mac is pretty much gold: Check out the Live version of RHIANNON: ua-cam.com/video/wgmRb3MlpHQ/v-deo.html
Are you in for a real treat. You need to listen to every single thing she has done solo and with Fleetwood Mac....Gold dust Woman, Edge of Seventeen, Stand Back, Forest of the Black roses, Gypsy, Rhiannon, Landslide, Battle of The Dragon, One More Big Time Rock n Roll Star, Wildheart, Beauty and The Beast, NIGHTBIRD, Sister of The Moon, Dreams, Fall From Grace, Moonlight....etc. Her albums are Belladonna, Wild Heart, Rock a Little, The Other Side of The Mirror, Street Angel, Trouble in Shan-gri-La, 24 Karat Gold ( songs from the vault) , In Your Dreams, The Buckingham / Nicks album....and all her unreleased demos.
A new Stevie song is what I needed after these months and months of uncertainty. Beautiful lyrics, poignant pictures, and great music. Gives me hope. I've listened to this quite a few times. As the song builds, I found the latter half of the song to be a kind of mantra. So, I did it with meditation. Indeed, was uplifting. Thank you Stevie. Great review!!!!!!!
Thank you..for a very deep feeling and genuine commentary on one of the best songs of this year..and one of Stevies finest like you said in a long time..I am 67..grew up with Stevie..and thru these most of these past times ..these photographs and words are poignant..and so familiar.. they do give us hope and show us the way.. and we will remember.. I cry every time I listen and watch this..like you also said ..we have never lived thru a year like 2020..may we never have to again..thanks to this vote..goddess blessings

I am in agreement. This is a lovely song by Stevie Nicks, poignant, powerful. Quintessential Stevie surely. The band is smoking: Grohl, Edwards. Stevie is wailing in the end, powerful chops! The Video also powerful. Your comments are right on! - When you talk about the smooth connections between the 60s protests and today’s BLM protests, the black n white imagery certainly adds to that fluidity. Also Stevie sings it was timeless. And the Black n white imagery reflects that timelessness. She sings don’t forget it. And it is still among us, still here. If we want it! Peace!
I absolutely love this production. I’ve posted it twice in past two months. I agree it is so timely and so Stevie Nicks. Thanks for emphasizing the context!
Well said! I love this song and Crowe (and Stevie) did a wonderful, moving job with the video. It is of our time and timeless, like Stevie herself. Rock on, Gold Dust Woman!
Great job JT and I loved learning that it was about a dream she had. It gives the song all new meaning. I really love the song too! And the video is very moving.
Actually, they did organize a concert for Peter Green in London in February. Steven Tyler, David Gilmour, Billy Gibbons and a few other A-list names were on the bill. This song is one of the best pop songs I have heard in a while. I really liked it. Sounds like modern pop, but it has a timeless quality to it.
Spot on reaction sir! Agree production sounds 2000-ish, and I think there’s some similarity with the song “Trouble in Shangri La” which came out in 2002: lyric heavy, the chorus is chant-like. Would love for you to do a reaction video to her new song The Lighthouse. Very different sounding song and would like to hear what you think of it musically speaking.
I love how you referred to art symbolizing life it so important. I went to a school who's founder believed as an artist we must interrupt life into our Art.

Time has been very kind to Stevie Nicks. Even after nearly 50 years, she hasn't changed a bit. Her mystical persona and gritted yet enchanting singing voice are to be thanked since that pretty much helped Fleetwood Mac become popular again. Stevie practically did to Fleetwood Mac what David Gilmour did to Pink Floyd. While it's a shame that the Hardcore Blues Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green has mostly fallen into obscurity (Man of The World and Oh Well are among my favorites from this period), I'm at least glad that the Adult Contemporary variant of Fleetwood Mac from the late 70s has endured. Rumours is a fantastic album. Stevie's solo career has some highlights too. Edge of Seventeen is iconic, and her new song (which you're reacting to in this video) is also pretty good. Shame about Lindsey Buckingham doesn't get the same amount of recognition though, for his guitar work is very much understated. If anything, I'd say his best guitar work is on this live performance of "I'm So Afraid", which I'll link to down here ua-cam.com/video/6OrtLxsqSic/v-deo.html

Please God, show 'em the way
Please God, on this day
Spirits all given the strength
Peace can come if you really want it
I had a fragile dream in a gray house in the Hamptons
I'd been there before, singing songs and doing benefits
Was in a room alone putting on my makeup
Like so many things that come to me, the dress came across the Persian carpet
As I fell into the dress, a thought came to me
Into my heart, I have a dream
And a door opened
I turned to face the music
I was ready for the Kennedys
I don't know if it was 1960 or 1963
Everything was timeless, even me
I wasn't old, I wasn't young, I was just part of their dream
A shadow walked with me down the hall, it was Martin Luther King
All in shadow, all before me, overwhelmed by
Destiny, someone said, "Sing us a song
There's a piano" and handed me a drink
The room was full of hope, a song would set them free
And I said
Please God, show 'em the way
Please God, on this day
Spirits all given the strength
Peace can come if you really want it
I sat at the piano, stared out of the shadows
I sang the words, "I have a dream"
He wasn't my old friend John, I didn't know him then
But he smiled at me, and I sang these words
Whatever it takes
Whatever it takes to be free
No, I didn't know these men
But they knew me
It was all symbolic, nothing was as it seemed
They all left us in a single shot but they didn't take the dream
They were there in that house, discussing the future
And drinking champagne, I was just a piano player
The voice, part of their dream
I was thirty five and maybe I was fifteen
It was just another night in the presence of Martin Luther King
I was just a dreamer, I was ready for the Kennedys
And I said
Please God, show 'em the way
Please God, on this day
Light the fire, start it over
Tell the world about the dream
Start it up and make it real
Please God
Show him the way
Please God
Show her the way
Please God
Show them the way
Please God
Back in the room where it all began
My heart began to heal, I believe it
I remember the beauty of the Hamptons
Shadows playing in the sun
A voice said, "The dream is not over, no
The dream has just begun"
I spun around to see another shadow
Slipping through the door
And my eyes opened wide, "What is this all for?"
And the shadow said, "Don't forget it, don't forget
What we were fighting for, don't forget it"
And I said
Please God, show 'em the way
(It's just another night)
Please God, on this day
(Martin Luther King)
Spirits all given the strength
(Sing us a song)
Peace can come if you fight for it
(Don't forget it)
Think we're just in time to say
(Ooh, and said, oh said)
Please God, show 'em the way
(All in shadow)
Please God, on this day
(All before me)
Spirits all given the strength
Peace can come if you fight for it
Think we're just in time to say this
Set them free
Room was full of hope
Please God, show 'em the way
(I believe it)
Please God, on this day
(Don't forget it)
Spirits all given the strength
(Don't forget what
We were fighting for)
Think we're just in time to say
Peace can come if you fight for it
Peace can come if you try harder
Peace can come, ooh, if you really want it
The dream
Don't forget it, please God
Show them the way
