Stevie Nicks on the liner notes of Tusk’s 2015 reissue - “Another tragedy. It has so many layers of telling the world what was happening to me without actually saying what was happening! It was really about Mick. That’s Stevie not happy with the way that relationship ended. That relationship destroyed Mick’s marriage to Jenny, who was the sweetest person in the world. So did we really think that we were going to come out of it unscathed? So then what happened to me, my best friend falling in love with him and moving into his house and neither of them telling me? It could not have been worse. Payback is a bitch. Bad karma all around. Here’s that song in a nutshell: Don’t break up other people’s marriages. It will never work and will haunt you for the rest of your miserable days.”
Tusk is a divisive album - some hate it while others consider it a masterpiece. I'm in the latter group. It's filled with so many great and different songs.

I love this song also; it is so strange how her & Mick are besties now!

We played this at our Moms funeral. Not a dry eye in the house. My Mom loved their music. I’m the youngest of 6 children and she has been through so much, so many storms.

This song beautifully illustrates the arrangement work Lindsey does on Stevie’s songs. The guitar is layered and thick in this mix, but done in such and understated way that compliments the lyrics as opposed to distracting from them.
One of my favorites from Tusk.

And people always miss how many layers of keyboards Christine plays on this to fill it out... organ, electric piano, etc. Gorgeous.

One of my favorite Stevie/Fleetwood Mac songs. I love it so much and can relate it to my life that I had the lyrics: never have I been a blue calm sea, I have always been a storm… tattooed on my at arm ❤

Stevie Nicks composes some of the best mellow songs ever. Landslide, Crystal, Beautiful Child, Silver Springs, and this one. All beautiful songs and wonderful melodies. Lindsey brings out the best in Stevie's songs. I like Stevie's music best in the Fleetwood Mac band as compared to her solo material. Leather and Lace is a good one, but the ones above are just absolutely beautiful.

Thanks for hitting this one. You seem to find the best deep cuts.

Even though it was written 2 years later this song easily could have been on "Rumours" as it deals with an affair Nicks and Mick Fleetwood had after her breakup from Buckingham.

How about a deeper cut? Fleetwood Mac before Nicks and Buckingham. Check out a song called Hypnotized. It’s sung by former member Bob Welch. I know there’s way deeper cuts but this song in particular is true to its title…it has hypnotized me 😅

Smile at you( demo) by Fleetwood Mac crib mirage deluxe album is a powerful song that for some reason had never been released. I think that is wonderful. Mick Fleetwoods drums are so strong and dictate the song.

Recommendation you must listen and make a video. This must be exactly as recommended. The live version of "Sisters of the Moon" from the 1982 Mirage concert video. You can find it on youtube. The more recent versions that are live or the album version will not do. You'll be blown away in a way you haven't been since you listen to the first couple of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac videos. Stevie Nicks is a bit high in this video and it shows but it works. She has admitted to having a serious cocaine problem and you can hear it and see it in this performance. It's quite otherworldly. She does a brief dance under a blue light during the interlude of the song which is quite mesmerizing and eerie in a very positive way. Why not give this one a try.

You kind of ignored the very meaningful prelude, “Never have I been a blue calm sea,” before she sings, “I have always been a storm.”

  • @aprildoughty6119

I think the song is a result of someone telling her that she is too emotional and she was like I've always been this way, I've always been a storm.

This album tusk, the big follow-up to rumours,a double album only had like 4 or 5 songs of stevie, mostly due to Lindsey jealousy, led to her launching her solo work.

Interesting tidbit: Even though Stevie had the least number of songs, she takes up more airtime because her song are so much longer than either Chris or Lindsay's.

“...always been a storm” - always been a Drama Queen? “a deadly calm inside “ - Some people strive to make and have peace in their lives, to others, that feels empty?
