    --------
    In this clip, Vlad asked Smokey Robinson about speaking at Michael Jackson’s funeral, and Berry Gordy calling Michael “the greatest entertainer of all time.” Smokey stated that Michael was a great talent, which showed in the “Thriller” video. Vlad then spoke about interviewing Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins,” who said that Michael is the only artist to dance full-out in the recording booth.

Michael was the only artist who was a part of my life for so long. We under estimate that we knew him when he was 5 years old until to his death. His powerful presence was in the music business for decades!

      All true. However the songwriter of some of his hits Rod Temperton isn't given his due recognition and for some reason isn't in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Look him up and see the massive amount of hits he wrote. Definitely overlooked.

      @@novacorps2468 I don’t need to look up Rod Temperton. He was an incredible genius writer on Off The Wall and Thriller albums. I would bet most people that appreciate those albums are aware of him. But Michael was so mesmerizing as an entertainer that people, Vlad included, overlook his songwriting, so I felt it needed to be highlighted. Rod was a beast tho.

I'll share it here with you all: if you ever wonder why some musicians can compel an audience while others struggle to do it; and if you ever wonder why some singers and rappers can compel an audience while others struggle to do it; then what you ask should know is that Newton's laws of physics apply to acoustics, too.
    Moral: it takes the same amount of energy to hear a sound as it does to make a sound. It's called sonic resonance. I have to make your eardrum wiggle for you to hear me; and if I'm jumping or tapping my foot when I make a sound, then when you hear the sound, your ear will detect it and your brain will process it all- with or, or without, your awareness.

    I understand and agree that Michael Jackson was/is a helluva entertainer. However, people seem to have short term memory. Sammy Davis Jr. was/is the "greatest entertainer" ever... period point blank. As far as dancing, the Nicholas Brothers are/were the greatest dancers to ever live. I once saw an interview of Gregory Hines (tap dancing legend) were he stated that if they ever make a movie about the Nicholas Brothers their dance moves would have to be computer generated because there isn't anyone alive today that could recreate those dance moves. For reference, watch Stormy Weather movie.

      Yeah, great dancers, fine singers. But that's not why MJ is considered the greatest. Even by Sammy Davies Jr or James Brown or Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly. MJ was much more than.sing or dance or stage. You people just wanna soubd edgy, however you just fail to see the big picture. MJ was phenomenal, was more than an outstanding dancer and outstanding singer, an outstanding songwriter, nore tban a phenomenal visionary. He used his fame and success to spread love and positive messages, to enter places to bring awarness of issues (like favellas, visiting hospitals, 3rd world orphanages). The greatest in this sense is about all that he did and achieved and what he did with it.

    So although MJ sold more records and was more famous, he was NOT the greatest entertainer.

      From the Jackson Five to "Thriller" (1969-1984), MJ could rival with experienced soul singers. Why do you think a lot of people prefer his version of "Who's Loving You", rather than Smokey's, despite the fact that "Who's Loving You" is a Smokey's song ?

      Shit no. The greatest entertainer is more than just performing, jeez. MJ was a global phenomenon who used his power to spread love messages and bring awarness to issues most people didn't care about. Lke when he went to the favellas though brazlian courts tried to stop him to shoot a video there. They even sent soldiers to stop him. He went there anyway. And that's just one example.of many. He was larger than life on many levels. Too bad you people just wanna downplay all that. I wish more entertainers were like him.

    Certainly one of the greatest entertainers but not the greatest. There are others. Presley, Minnelli, Sinatra to name a few. Loved his music but not him. Let's talk truth here & I know people don't want or like to hear the truth. Jackson had a problem with image, meaning being black. This guy was whiter than I am. Bleached his skin, straighten his hair, multiple nose jobs to have the proverbial ski nose, & at the same time lectures us singing ain't no difference if you're black or white. Whatup with that?? Apparently it did make a difference to him. Was obvious ashamed of being black. That spoke volumes about WHAT he was about. Not good. Look at pics of him in the 2000's against the pic on the wall album. Two completely different people. He was a good looking black dude & transformed into something not so good looking. Mega issues & a really sad person. Tragic.

      And you sing the song the media taught you. How very original. MJ had vitiligo and lupus - 2 autoimmune diseases. He had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his head. And he needed operation on his nose, as they say he broke it, which led to complications. You are as arrogant as one can be, that you judge a man with so many health issues and attach some stupid a$$ ideology to it. Just because the white majority media convinced you that MJ, a black artist wanted to become white - after all what else a black man would wanna really be, huh? Don't you see how racist THAT narrative is? Yet you sucked it beautifully.
      Btw taken how many hardships MJ went trhough mainly because of his health issues he was the very person, who had all the reasons to sing about racial intergrity.

Stop with the make believe fantasies, yall are just mad a black dude with an afro is pedestals above The Beatles, Elvis Presley, etc. No other race says this stuff about Michael, it's only white people who look like you. Why is that? Jealousy? Fantasy? Yall whitewashed Jesus, tried white washing Ancient Egypt and have the AUDACITY to do it to Michael. Listen bud... Russia is threatening you, China is flying balloons over your country and people who look like me are telling you this; its evident white people are the problem and the world has had enough of your games. You want to know the truth? So let's start with his skin. After Thriller he was diagnosed with lupus (an autoimmune disease) and vitligo (a genetic disease). With lupus you have a lot of joint- muscle pain and migraines, you'll get inflamed lungs and you catch every infection what other people have, that's why he had to wear a mask, to protect himself. With lupus
      Some people develop a nail infection, which can cause splitting or crumbling nails and discoloration (A), or swollen skin and discoloration around the nails (B). Sometimes, visible blood vessels appear around the nails. He used bandage around his nails to protect them. The first sign of lupus you can see on old pictures when he had the typical butterfly rash around his nose and cheeks. Vitiligo start mostly on hands, I personally think that was the reason why he invented to wear a glove. When you have vitiligo you lose melanin in your skin. The white patches on the skin are getting larger and larger. Every treatment is the same, the dermatologist gives you a lightening cream and he evens out the skin with makeup. Bleaching or whitening the skin is impossible, otherwise there would be a lot of African Americans, people from India, Asians who would bleach their skin. The lightening ingredient is hydroquinone, the FDA approves only 2% and you can apply it on darker spot for 3 month, than you have to do a break. It lightens the skin in a very slow process. If you use more hydroquinone it causes skin cancer. Michael could easily get skin cancer because the white patches have no melanin, that means no protections. He had to use an umbrella because even if you sit on a window it makes the white skin cells cancerous. He couldn't use a lot of hydroquinone, because it creates skin cancer . Karen Faye, his makeup artist said, that in the beginning, when the brown skin was larger they used darker make up on the lighter spots. The white spots had gotten so large, that they had to use lighter makeup to cover up the brown spots. With the time Michael's skin got naturally white. It's a skin disease, and it doesn't mean that he didn't want to be black. After the burn accident (1084) Michael had no hair on top of his scull, so he had to wear wigs. Michael was brutally beaten by his father, the same father mocked him for his nose and his acne. When he got a surgery on his nose, the skin wouldn't heal, because of lupus, so he had reconstructive surgeries. He had no other surgeries, only on his scull, he had a lot of migraines after the burn accident. So they placed a balloon under his scull that he had more elasticity. His scars were behind his ears. If he would have surgeries the scars would be in front of his ears and under the chin.
      The white spots of vitiligo are white as a wall, even translucent. Michael had no problems with being black, he had to deal with a very disfiguring skin disease. I think he was very creative and he was very good in dealing with those diseases.

      You Prince fans always use the same argument: "Prince played instruments, MJ didn't." They repeat it over and over again. They know very well that in dancing and singing MJ is better. As a musician, as a producer, Prince was better. The only thing MJ didn't do was play instruments, which Prince did.

    • @richardkovacs2006
      @richardkovacs2006 Рік тому +1

      @@robertj.batista Prinve wasn't even a pro on instruments. And why do a mediocre job when you can hire the best to play on your albums? MJ chose to hire Louis Johnson, Toto members and so on and you can hear the difference.
      Also MJ wasn't just a singer-dancer. He was a visionary, his live shows were landmarks and so on. MJs genius wasn't restricted to just making music.

    • @hannaz4617
      @hannaz4617 Рік тому +1

      @@robertj.batista I think what Michael did was even more like the work of a genius. He could play melodies on a piano, drums, guitar, keyboard, synthesizer with his hearing, but not reading the notes. He heard melodies and heard instrument playing and advised musicians to transform it. That is a complete different way of creating music. But it really shows that Michael was the music. There was nothing trained or any repetition, it came straight from his heart and soul. It's really hard to find an artist who is capable of creating such great songs the way he did. That has nothing to do with learning to play an instrument. That takes practice, repetition, patience. It's like learning a language. Michael was busy with putting all instruments together, to organize the choreography and create his dance moves to express the feelings and emotions of his song.
