    In 1988 I was in Harrods with my mother. At the time there was a large tea section with a counter of loose leaf teas. My mother was at the counter and the gentleman working asked my mother what she was looking to purchase. She replied she did not know but she had tea bags at home. To this day my mother laughs at this because the gentleman at the counter had an expression of horror that she was using tea bags. He then proceeded to bring over multiple cannisters of loose tea for my mother to smell and choose one. She bought some tea and got a great green can to take it away in. The whole tea experience was the best part of her trip. 36 years ago and it was a hoot and has never been forgotten.

      He must have been a Tea Sommelier. ☕He'd be horrified to order tea that came to his table w/a cup, a little pot of luke-warm water, and a teabag, sitting on the saucer, lol!

      I've said it before, I'd be tempted to shove a little note up the underside of one of the scone's, "If you read this note, you've been served our leftovers that the restaurant couldn't bear to part with."

      Harvey Nichols staff make me feel uncomfortable and was VERY disappointed with the lacklustre service I observed at Liberty recently- with the exception of the staff in their cafe 😮

This time like you, we were on the look out for the 175 year anniversery bear called Henry, after Charles Henry Harrod who opened his shop in 1834 and luckily there were only two left and so glad to have it but what a pain taking it with our luggage through the tube, and the airport and the plane. That men's shirt was insane, A guy can get a bespoke dress shirt made at Budds in Piccadilly Arcade of really high end fabric for less than that off the peg polo shirt. I don't understand luxury brands like that shirt or things like Tom Ford suits and such. Again a good tailor can get you into a actual bespoke suite in really great fabric for less than something from Tom Ford that is just off the rack and still needs to be tailored to fit you.

I bought a tin of biscuits in a Harrods logo tin. I keep loose screws in it now. A lot of the items for sale are ok, nothing special, but Harrods is about the name and atmosphere really. First time I went into Harrods, I looked at the prices for handbags, got really uncomfortable and thought that maybe some random floor upstairs would have more “affordable” things and by accident landed straight where you saw those beautiful Jenny Packham gowns - I was completely blown away by the dazzling embroidery and the prices, so once I was done looking in that section, I walked out of the store and stayed away from it for a couple of years. Great video as usual. That mason Pearson brush is well worth it…got one 30 years ago with my staff discount at selfridges and it’s still going strong! Don’t think I’ll ever need to buy another hairbrush!

    Funny You mentioned Bloomingdale’s. That’s the first thought that came to me when you entered into the store. I thought it looked remarkably like Bloomie’s.

    Hannah, my friend has the same camera as your’s, he said you can alter the frame rate. You should be able to either swipe up or swipe down on the screen and make a change that way, or scroll through the menu and look out for a wheel cog/nut icon, that should give you the option to make a change. The European frequency is 50Hz, so you’ll need to select a frame rate of either 25fps, 50fps or 100fps, (25fps is your best bet). USA runs at 60Hz, so you’d need to shoot at 30fps, 60fps or 120fps. So when filming in the UK, shoot at 25fps and when you visit the States again, change it to 30fps. Hopefully that should solve your issue.

      is there a setting for polarization? For the shop window shots ?

    • @adam461smith
      @adam461smith 6 місяців тому +3

      @@VegaChastain Not as far as I know but you can attach filters to the camera. There are official ones you can purchase or lots of third party ones you can buy online, do a quick search and you should be able to see what I'm talking about. I did reply to this yesterday but UA-cam wouldn't publish my original comment, I think it was because I mentioned a certain website.

    • @adam461smith
      @adam461smith 6 місяців тому +3

      @@HannahRicketts Well, the Harrods video looked perfect so I wouldn't worry too much, maybe leave things alone. My friend explained that because UK and Europe runs at 50Hz, we need to film at either 25, 50 or 100fps, because they all divisible by 50 (and vice versa). USA runs at 60HZ, so it's 30, 60 and 120fps, again, divisible by 60. According to him, 25fps is more than enough, the human eye sees 25fps, higher frame rates are only useful if you want to shoot in slow motion, which doesn't seem to make sense, but it does if you think about it. Higher frame rates will result in much larger video files as well, so 25fps is the way to go. You might already be shooting at 25fps, but have a look, and if you aren't, I'd try it first before you film a full video, you don't want to do all that hard work only to find you can't use the footage.

    • @adam461smith
      @adam461smith 6 місяців тому +3

      @@HannahRicketts If you search 'changing frame rate on 'insert camera name' on UA-cam, lots of videos will appear and talk you through it. I would copy and paste a link but every time I do so, or even mention a brand or company, UA-cam deletes my comment. My friend was right though, the icon you need to select looks like a wheel/nut, or more accurately, a hexagon.

    Back in the mid 1990s on my first visit to Harrods i found dinky wooden spoons,half size for 50p each in the kitchens department and i bought two. My first Harrods purchase £1.
    Not my last,but only two others. Some delicious Somerset ham + a Xmas bauble,a tiny one. I still use those spoons every day.
    My London living friend says Harrods is strictly Tourist and real Londoners dont shop there. It is a tourist thing you do,visit Harrods on a London day out. I recently visited the Yves St Laurent museum in Paris. Packed with photos of the 1960s beautiful people.

    Hannah it is always a treat to go with you to Harrods! I like the fact that you started this vlog with your lunch, & like everything in Harrods, It looked amazing! I know you wanted to spend $10, but I would almost bet that Nothing in that store is priced below $10!!!
    Every time you go there Hannah, it seems as if the store was just that day organized to be filmed! It's crazy how they are so impeccable with all their merchandising efforts.....in every department! Very Impressive indeed! Thx Hannah for showcasing another really iconic London destination....Harrods never gets old! Have a nice weekend Hannah, & I look forward to your next vlog on Tuesday! In the meantime, be safe & let us know when you go back to get the Prada bag!!!

    Thanks for taking us along Hannah. I love London but don't visit very often so I am envious that you live there with all these delights on your doorstep. I'd love to browse around all these posh shops but would feel so out of place and I'd also struggle with the crowds of people too. I'm a country bumpkin so I'm used to space. One day I may become brave enough eh. Thanks again Hannah.

    Hannah, Well done! I agree...too many small items very over priced. It is wonderful to learn about the lower level. There are some great gift choices. Thank you! I would buy the paper items (also easy to pack). It appears to me that 5,000 pounds would not go far in Harrod's! The Italian designers are exquisite. I like Ferragamo shoes. Great quality. Many thanks! ❣

    Evening Hannah thank you for the great vlog in Harrods. I'm there quite a lot one of my fav shops. I bought some of those individual cakes last time I was there. They were expensive but I must say some of the best cakes I have ever eaten and I have eaten a lot and I bake a lot so that says something. Seeing your vlog makes me want to go to Harrods again very soon. Thank you.
