Tom Tom I love your channel but still miss you on MORR. You helped make Matt’s channel what it is today. I’m looking forward to watching you make Dig Dug one awesome vehicle. I’m restoring a 69 Chevy. 4x4 for my grandson and watching you work on Dig Dug gives me hope to finish 😂
Tom, there is one thing that you absolutely need to do. Conspire with the MORR crew for the next time Matt is out of town. Then go in and actually repair a fuel gauge, at least one. Maybe on the MORRVair, or on the wrecker. Then do a video surprising Matt with a fuel gauge that works without having to "know how to read it"! Hey, sneaky ... BUT FUN!!!
I think there might be a real market for a "fuel gauge corrector" electronic widget that accepts any working sender signal, and converts that to any working gauge signal. Easy to tune by pushing buttons at full, half empty, and empty. Then turning a pot at full to adjust the output.
@@BigGuy8059 As an electrical engineer from a past life, this is easy. With today’s technology, it’s even easier. I haven’t done this but I believe there is something out there that already exists. Oh well, so much for that million dollar idea! 😅
Tom Matt needs a shop manager. We need you reunited with Matt. That channel hasn’t been the same since you left. Be the shop manager and build your own stuff on your channel. Best of both worlds :)

It is awesome that your whole family is involved with your UA-cam channel and the Dig Dug story is heart warming that your kids remember it with such fondness.
Me too. One of my older brothers bought. I think it was a 73 model off the showroom floor. It was the first brand new Vehicle had ever bought. He still has it. I think he told me that that he has it set up for racing now, drag racing. I need to get up that way and take a look at it.
That's my current off road project. I have an 1984 Grand Wagoneer that I am working on. I am at a stage that I'm getting more parts, so not much work is happening at the moment. Seeing this vehicle built would be awesome, and a great help for me. 😀
Greetings from Torrance! Oh my gosh, your oldest son "sounds" exactly like you. The way you speak is very distinctive and your son sounds exactly like you. I thought it was you talking to yourself. You have a great family and looking forward to more Dig Dug stories. Thanks again Tom!
When my daughter was born i had a 1986 lifted squarebody with 8" lift and 38's and a 1982 lowered square V8 S10 . Best of both worlds. Still have the S10, 30++years later.
I'm working on My 1982 Chevrolet S10 square. New built 355 SB, B&M TH350, tubular a-arms, lowered spindles&springs, Wilwood front brake kit, Caltracs, split mono leafsprings, restoring or replaced everything connected to the frame. I'm working on a 1982 K10 with new engine transmission and transfer case. I had to replace my 1998 S10, it was two well really one wheel drive. My soul mate dog Doby actually was his truck he just let me drive it.
That J.C. Whitney catalog brings back memories of my youth. My dad had a '32 Ford Coupe that he rebuilt in the 70's with a 327 Chevy small block. Then when he got his brand new '71 Blazer, he would buy accessories from J.C. Whitney. Those catalogs came to our house for years.
I am working on a 72 VW bug that I have owned for over 20 years. Both of my children learned how to drive a manual transmission in that car. The longest asphalt drive for me in that car is 18 miles all other miles have been off road. I am currently giving it a major bumper to bumper refresh. Thanks for sharing Dig Dug with us.
Thanks for sharing the evolution of Dig Dug. I've been working with my 14 year old on an $800 XJ. My wife is much like Angela asking when cosmetic and comfort items will be finished.

@s01david74 If you get it completed some time in 2025 and maybe camping out or at a car or tractor show some where in the Pfalz region, I hope to get out and around to a couple of shows some time next year. Take care Viel Spaß und viel Erfolg bei Ihrem Projekt.
I’d love to see an old flat fender Jeep , I’m a squarebody guy for sure but a cj2a just looks awesome chugging around barley doing the speed limit. The old Broncos are so expensive and modern Jeeps are everywhere so something different would be cool..maybe a Scout?
Thanks for sharing a bit about the truck we’ve watched you build over the years. It’s fun to hear the stories behind where it came from and why it’s a big part of your family‘s life. Looking forward to 2025 to see what else you can show us.
I agree with others, watching your daughter in the chute again was great. In terms of what I'd like to see, I don't care at all which vehicle you work on but what I like best is any fabrication work you do. Take your time showing us the steps in making a custom bracket and give us some welding lessons along the way.
Project: 4x4 Camper. This one is a bit different from what is being done these days. I'm remembering my 1989 Nissan D21 Hardbody pickup, extended cab. Rated 26mpg highway, I got 25mpg with the camper shell and all my gear plus a 25 gallon aux fuel tank in the bed. I wheeled that thing everywhere from low deserts in August to over 9000' in blizzards. Did Charloux Gap in it (recently featured by On-X Offroad Build Challenge). Used it in my Search & Rescue years, exploring many offroad trails. **IDEA IS THIS** That kind of platform (Nissan D21, Nissan Frontier, Ford Ranger, Mazda B3000). Take the bed off. Build on chassis an aluminum frame and shell camper but do not over-build it. Modest cab-over height for light storage space. Solar on the roof, LiFePO4 battery pack, electric power for cooking, heating, cooling. Foam board insulation between outer aluminum skin and something nicer on the interior, but light weight. The idea is this thing is self-contained and meant for just one or two people to camp into 4x4 country for more than a weekend but less than forever. Not a rock crawler, not intended for bouldering. Improve running gear somewhat (LOCKERS) but again, not an extreme build, must be street legal and highway efficient. This is because most of the miles a 4x4 camper drives is on pavement. If I could I'd build this myself and take some long, long trips in it.
Wow can we see you fix that old engine with a backfire problem. I’m sure it would be great to watch you , loved this trip down memory lane . Thank you , Carl uk 🇬🇧
This was such a wonderfully wholesome and heartwarming video. Thank you for sharing. I'm working on resurrecting my dad's 1966 Dodge D200 that has sat for almost 20 years. Chuck.
Love seeing the history of Dig Dug! Always loved your participation on Matt's channel and happy to see you finding success on your own channel. What I'd like to see in the new year is more "supporting cast"! Something I noticed about Paul's channel in the early days was that although he, like you, is charming and knowledgeable, the charm is magnified exponentially when there are others around. Definitely found you funny and charming when you were supporting cast on Matt's channel, so it would be great to amp that up on your channel. Whether it's your neighbour, or maybe a shop assistant, or whatever, it would be great to see your circle widen in your shop. And that perhaps will lead to a few more unscripted moments as well! Keep it up! I'm a fan! Wish you the very best in 2025.
After Dig Dug is finished, I think an old Blazer build would be awesome! However, I will watch whatever you decide to build, Tom. You and Angela are good people, and fun to watch in action. Merry belated Christmas, and Happy New Year to the whole Tom Tom family!
What a great story, it makes this build very endearing!! Thanks for including us in your journey to make Dig Dug all it can be. Personally I'm a big square body Blazer fan, early '80s, they just had a stance and attitude about them that I've never forgotten.
Looks like Tom Tom of the Yukon with that hat on. Dig Dug has been through many manifestations over the years. I was wondering about the bed from the first time I saw the truck on Matt's channel. You should build a buggy around that old 350.
Happy holidays tomtom and family. Nissan patrol 2 suzuki jimnys and a toyota hiace van all in the tinker faze in our shop. Mostly welding up the tin worm we get up here in the north of Scotland.
Thank you for the family memories of Dig Dug! It's fun to see how lives can revolve around a long term project like a car or truck. I'm busy maintaining several cars and trucks for my wife and girls, but over on the side of the shop is a 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger that needs some love and a driveline. One of these days..... I think it would be cool to see your take on a full size Chevy Blazer :-)
What a great video! Keep up the good work and wishing you all the best 2025. Looking forward to seeing dig dug painted & w/AC 😏 wheel’n on the trails. I think some WJ or XJ Content would be fabulous.👍🏼 also love the hat😂
Love the Channel. Would enjoy seeing a Subscriber graph showing your growth over time. Keep up the good work. BTW, hated seeing you leave MOR but it was a good move I think.
I really enjoyed watching this episode! It’s always great when you have old pictures and videos of a family member that’s also a vehicle. It’s great to hear the kids stories of the truck. I really love how Angela loves the truck to! I’m currently working on my 1955 Chevy 3100. This is my 6th one. I try to take pictures because at 61 and a lot of health problems I believe this will be my last build! I will be able to work a little on another build but it will be one of my sons truck! He’s already talking about what he wants it to be! You have a great Chanel and I really enjoy watching them!! Have a Great New Years and I can’t wait to see what evolves in the new year!! As for your next build I would have to say since I’m old and have a soft spot for the older trucks. I guess I would love to see an older vehicle built Well this is getting long but I just feel like I know you guys Happy New Year from Michigan and if you ever get to Michigan I will definitely try my hardest to meet you in person!!
great stories. I love long-term family vehicles. I am currently working on a 55 Ford Panel Truck similar to one my grandpa used to deliver milk in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I love the build videos. Do something non-jeep.and custom.
Happy new year! What a pleasure to watch this and to hear the history and to meet your kids and your wife. Very heartwarming story definitely helps us fans feel even more connected to you
What a warm and wonderful story. And you two sitting together on an old bench seat on the floor of your shop was just plain sweet. As far as what to build, I'd be happy with whatever makes you two happy. That translates to great vids. But since you did ask, and since I owned both of these in the way back a mid / late 70's K5 Blazer might be fun. Or a 1970ish International Scout. I can't remember if mine was a Scout II or not. 2 door, bench seat, small box on the back. Easy to work on which was great since it seemed to break down often. And since I'm trippin down memory lane, mine had a snow plow. great for the small city driveways where we lived. Best Regards - Tim
Great story and thank you both for putting it together. My current project that just started this summer is my 1978 Chevy Big10, a 2WD, big block, 4spd truck that I bought in January 1990 right after my wife and I were married. Our first big purchase. I plan to completely redo everything, rust and all, then paint and make it a daily driver again. As for your next project, I'm sure anything you do will be great. Thanks for the video!
That was great! Thanks for sharing the origin story. I don't do any wrenching these days so I will live vicariously through whatever projects you work on. Wishing you and your family a blessed 2025.
Thanks for sharing the Dig Dug story! Fun to hear the history and memories from the kids! Great people, great family, great channel! Happy New Year! 🎆🎊
Love the old memories Tom !! This was a great break from your awesome build videos. God bless you and your family. Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New year !! Can't wait to see what 2025 brings !
My current project is "getting a shop", I'm too old and tired to work outside when it's cold, and when it's warm I'm generally on the boat fishing.. I'm a fan of all of your videos, but I gotta admit I like the go-see-things stuff. It'd be really cool to see you spend a weekend with the Trail Mater folks and really get a test run on Dig Dug when it's ready for the rocks!
Tom Tom

I loved the amazement of your daughter going up the chute “Why is this working?” priceless!

Nope, tom is much better better in his own shop. Can't fabricate when managing.
Nah. Tom's so precise when he works and Matt's so "good enough" in his approach. Gotta believe a guy like Tom would find that annoying 😂

great stories. I love long-term family vehicles. I am currently working on a 55 Ford Panel Truck similar to one my grandpa used to deliver milk in Pleasant Grove, Utah. I love the build videos. Do something non-jeep.and custom.
Thanks for including the kids! I just love when you get excited it gets me excited! You and Paul both make me think I can fix anything!
Awesome story , think about a jeep commander for next project 😀
Great story and thank you both for putting it together.
My current project that just started this summer is my 1978 Chevy Big10, a 2WD, big block, 4spd truck that I bought in January 1990 right after my wife and I were married. Our first big purchase. I plan to completely redo everything, rust and all, then paint and make it a daily driver again.
As for your next project, I'm sure anything you do will be great. Thanks for the video!
Great story !!!
I really connected with the hat! I am always finding favorite pieces of clothing that my wife is trying to smuggle off to the Goodwill!
As a teen I really loved the Desert Fox trucks... There was one on the showroom floor of a local dealer and I stoped and looked at it all the time.
That was great! Thanks for sharing the origin story. I don't do any wrenching these days so I will live vicariously through whatever projects you work on. Wishing you and your family a blessed 2025.
Good morning Tom Tom thanks for the history of the Chevy truck
Thanks for sharing the Dig Dug story! Fun to hear the history and memories from the kids! Great people, great family, great channel! Happy New Year! 🎆🎊
Such a great collection of stories!! Old Bronco Build! Also what's up with that Blue Ford OBS in some of those pictures
I love your daughters reaction going up the hill.
Love the old memories Tom !! This was a great break from your awesome build videos.
God bless you and your family. Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New year !!
Can't wait to see what 2025 brings !
Wow!!!! Looooove it! Thank you for sharing the stories.
I had a 454, and a cam lobe wore down. On a very fresh rebuild. Loved the story on Dig Dug. I’ve been a square body guy my whole life as well.
That was so enjoyable! 😊
