2022 the hotel is long gone. Mary couldn't accept the changes and her style slowly came back and the customers left. People don't want to live in your home they want a hotel experience with hotel standards.

i don't understand the hoteliers on this show.. 99% of the problems are because of their own amateur "decorating." it's either women with horrible taste or else it's men who have no clue, so they just leave things how they were done 30 years ago. people need to get it through their heads, a hotel is a public space, not your house. it's true a few people do have nice taste and can do it themselves, but 99% of them need to stop playing "decorator" and just fork out the extra cash to hire a professional interior designer.

To be fair, those are the reasons the producers select them. They don't find the drama 'needless' - without it the tears, the eye popping confrontation and unreasonableness, they wouldn't have a saleable programme.

Do you really need to hire a person to know that a hotel must be cleaned at all times, hotel maintenance on a day to day basis, fresh food, good customer service and etc..
Somehow all of this reminds me of "Fawlty Towers" especially the sections dealing with the "restaurant" and the kitchen "staff". Incredible to think that the tv series was not fiction and fantasy but horrible and stark reality! Luckily I have never toured in England, sticking to London, the shops, museums and theaters. How much pain and horror I have avoided!!!
It is actually really easy to get a TripAdvisor award, especially depending on how many of that business type are in the area. The smaller the town, the easier to get an award. But a lot of people would rather not leave a review if they had a crappy stay or sugarcoat it - only about 1 out of 10 people actually complain. So a lot of the issues problem were not addressed on TripAdvisor.
Tripadvisor is unreliable because anyone can leave a review even if they've never visited the establishment. On other sites you can only review if you've made and paid for a booking.
lechaise The hoteliers can't actually check if a reviewer has visited. On Agoda or Booking.com you can only leave a review if you've booked and paid. Nevertheless if you read between the lines TripAdvisor is still a very useful guide. Very few people leave bad reviews without good reason..

Also, some people may have visited an establishment several times without reviewing it on TA, but then when they have a bad experience at the same establishment they leave a horrific review. Trip advisor rates it #26 out of 29 B&Bs in Nottingham. Average stars is 3 out of 5 and the photos show mildew and grotty plumbing in the washrooms. I would avoid it like the plague!
The rooms in the red light district in Amsterdam are on street level, and between clients, the women open the curtains and sit and pose so passers by can look into the room from the street, and choose which girl/ woman they want.

Dear Gods this has to be the worst place ever! Its like something from a surreal comedy show and 'Mary' actually looks and behaves like a Matt Lucas character What is puzzling me is she keeps whining they work 24/7, Doing what? They have no guests, the 'restaurant' is defunct and the place is a midden. I had to laugh because I am still recovering from sharing with a 'Mary' for 7 months. Dear Gods this has to be the worst place ever! Its like something from a surreal comedy show and 'Mary' actually looks and behaves like a Matt Lucas character What is puzzling me is she keeps whining they work 24/7, Doing what? They have no guests, the 'restaurant' is defunct and the place is a midden. I had to laugh because I am still recovering from sharing with a 'Mary' for 7 months. Her place looked just like this, she behaved like that and she wanted to open a B and B!

Many of these folks need to remember that the hotel is not there to please them. It only exists to bring in customers and please them enough to make some money and give the owner life.
