Thanks, I didn’t realize it was the easy to swap them out.

There are a few different varieties of plugs and meters too. USB, Powerpole, etc. I use these in battery boxes too.

Tools are something I take for granted, but a big deal when it comes to being on the road (and also a lot harder to have). I can't even imagine the right balance of too many tools but having what you need to work on your home.

Until now I've been pretty ok with what I've brought. If I wind up with any major repairs needed, I'll go back to my base - or to Chuck's house.

      Chuck's house...yeah, that's a quick trip. 😮

I added a USB charging capability in my RV a few years back. It is nice, plus I plug USB lights into it, very friendly at night, and more energy efficient than the OEM system.

I hate the lights in this RV - always too bright! I'll be looking for one of those gooseneck USB lights for ambiance.

Something to consider while upgrading your electrical is SAE power sockets. I installed one on the street side to plug in my 12v water pump I use to refill my fresh water tanks and I am also going to install another on the curb side to run an extension cord to my FT-891. (SAE on one end and Anderson's on the other) Noise from the inverter may be an issue but we will see........

That's a very good idea - I have an (REVERSE!) SAE plug on the curb-side of my trailer, a REVERSE/OBVERSE flipper and a powerpole adapter cable setup for mine.

They look super neat! How does it go with the blue light though, does it light up the room?

Its not that bright... but it is brighter than zero and I don't personally like this.

Nice video. But, how did you get that picture of my brother's car ashtray?

That link is the ones I buy. they great ! will work 24 to 30 volts as well. I put 2 of them in mu ammo can battery box for portable . 65 watt USB C PD. runs my HP 17 in windows 11 laptop no problem. got the USB C to blue HP 20V cord . most of my GMRS/MURS?FRS radios are USB C charge. I even have a 12/24V to USB C 100 watt PD cord. DeWalt has a USB C PD 100 watt IN and OUT to 20V MAX battery. us it to charge my DeWalt 20V battery's from USB C . also works from USB C solar panel and can run USB C laptop on DeWalt battery. USB C is the way to go now. many power stations have USB C my Anker one does . some coolers and RV stuff use lighter plug outlet. had to put lighter port in my POTA battery box. If I can I switch to power poles. That have a power pole outlet just like that USB C you put in on amazon . put them around the RV so you have handy USB C port . I tap off lights run wire down to USB C port. the ones with your link have a on/off switch. love them . happy RV ing . 73's

How come your linked sockets don't have the meter in them like your video? Funny but I've thought about changing the cigarette lighter plug to powerpoles but have never gotten around to it as it's easier to use adapters in other places than charge stuff where it is located.

2 reasons: I got the sockets I have from the hamfest in Huntsville and they have zero data on them, and I really don't want the light source at night.

Dumb questions from a dummy, your laptop expects 19V or 20V for charging, right? The voltage at the back of the USB socket is 13.3V, right? Does the socket have some voltage step up??? Or is the laptop only seeing 13.3V? TO help me understand....

The charging device is supposed to have a step-up. Buck/Boost converters are pretty common these days.
