Sergei Parajanov did films in Armenian, Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian, and Azerbaijani. Really shows how talented he is as a linguist.
thank you for making the english subtitles so the rest of the world also can watch this film. Ashik Qerib is truly a masterpiece and a colorful representation of azerbaijani culture. It’s based on a short story with the same name written by lermontov in 1800s. Check out other films by parajanov (the legend of surram fortress, shadows of forgotten ancestors, and , of course, the color of a pomegranate) if you haven’t watched yet for some reason.

It really IS the most beautiful movie! I just watched it for probably the fifteenth time. For several years now, ever since I first discovered it completely by chance, I watch it from time to time, and it never fails to bring me to tears. And the more I watch it, the more I love it. The music is magnificent and such an important element of the film.

The movie is actually from an Armenian director Paradjanov he made movies in Georgian,Armenian,Ukrainian,Azerbaijani

Could Italian subs be added? I know for sure that an official translation exists on a hard-to-find DVD.
