    i saw a little goldfish at my towns carnival with her little nose and entire back black from burns, i could tell they used this nasty towns sink water and not properly conditioned water, so i played until i got her, now she’s a big girl in a 10 gallon tank, very healthy and shiny gold as she should be! so if anyone ever can, save a fishy or two! it’s the only game where you really accomplish something

    I am glad you talked about goldfish in this video. I was raised around goldfish since I was growing up with my parents. We had all types of goldfish in our 50 gallon tank and took them out in my family's pond near the Spring time! It was beautiful to see them enjoy swimming and eating in the pond. We would have a spawn of babies which accumulate us having more little ones with the big goldfish that got bigger! Goldfish do require alot of maintenance. My parents love taking care of them and they were relaxing to watch.

    I rescued a goldfish today. Someone left a tiny tank outside in extremely dirty water. I saw that 2 were dead, and 1 was barely alive. I couldn't abandon it after seeing the condition of the water. I know nothing about fish, as I'm more of a dog/cat type person, but I ran to Walmart, and got a beginner tank for now. Welp...she looks much better. Glad she didn't die, cuz lord...she was floating and laying on her side like "I'm done." She slowly came back after I put her into the new tank. Now she is just happily swimming about. I have 2 dogs, so I'm keeping her tank in another room.

    You can get away with 2 Goldfish in a 20g, I just use a filter and a light air stone. I don't blame people for putting Goldfish in small tanks as there is alot of bad information out there. Even small 20L starter tanks sometimes say can hold 2-3 small goldfish. Bigger is better.

    • @leahcamponion944
      @leahcamponion944 4 роки тому +6

      @@isabelle9914 if there is only one, 20 gal works even for most of his life, but it does depend on the breed too. If you have a fancy type gold fish, 20 gal with good filtration would work for ome fish, then an additional 20 gal for each fish you add (40 gal for 2 goldfish). However if your getting a comet or more pond type variety, then definitely 40 gal for 1 and an additional 20 for each because they get really long...

      @@wetcorn6509 I really think 20 gallons is too small. Fancy goldfish get huge, my black moor is 9 inches long. I keep her with 3 other fish in a 125 gallon and would still go bigger if given the opportunity lol. As far as a realistic minimum goes, I think people should start with something no smaller than a 40 gallon breeder for 2 baby fancy goldfish. In my experience, they just outgrow smaller tanks too fast. Plus they never stop growing as adults, their growth rate just slows down. Even better would be a 75 gallon kit, and you can keep 3-4 fancies in it. I know petsmart sells one for $499 that comes with the tank, stand, and lights. Definitely wouldn't recommend goldfish if someone isn't prepared for a really big tank.

    • @rochellesassbug931
      @rochellesassbug931 3 роки тому

      Consider a pond. If not, fewer fish, bigger size. Don't go smaller than 40 gal. Go 60 if you can. They're smart, cool fish. Invest more up front, less work down the line. Read up on cycling a tank. Have fun aquascaping your new habitat. It'll be worth it in the end.

I bought them a 220 litre second hand tank that came with all the goodies, light, filter, bubble machine, I bought them plants, and I'm sooo happy to see them in a tank 3 times bigger than what they had. I love watching them, and silly me, I'm starting to worry..tomorrow I'll buy them some peas. I’ve had my goldfish in a 230 litre(about 50 gallon) tank for round a year now and I want to get her a tank mate but I’m not sure how she’d take to a new fish.
    When we got her she was mistreated and because of how the fishplace was trying to grow her quickly all her fins are curly so I’ve always been dubious about getting another goldfish, both because i don’t know how she’d take it(having never had a tankmate before) and I don’t know if they would pick on her because she isn’t a good swimmer.
    I hear a lot of people saying that goldfish are communal and do well in pairs and I know my tank is plenty big enough for another but I’m still unsure. Any advise?

      Like Sam said. You have a 50 gallon tank. The video said 3 goldfish requires at least 40 gallon tank. Your tank is more than enough for 2 goldfishes.
      So going back to what Sam said, goldfishes are social animals. They live together in groups like humans. Imagine you live in a world where you never saw another human being. Pretty hard huh? That’s how your goldfish feels.

    I have 2 baby orandas in a 20 gallon tank, (which I have asked about in the aquatics shop and they said it was fine) and I've had really bad luck w my last ryukins. I'm trying my hardest with these two and I'm determined.

    OMG, I have three goldfish in way too small a tank then (only 16 gallon/70 litres). Does this mean I'll have to invest in a much bigger tank in future or are they okay to stay in there for now?

    What would be the tank size for two common goldfish? Would that be 30/40 gallons? Or can 20 work when they’re little but upgrade as they get older?

      @@RuanthGrain I don't know but have you seen the size of a goldfish compared to a tank of that size? They barely have any room. I have a 30 gallon tank and it isn't even enough for one. You could keep one in it but why would anyone when they can just buy a kiddie pool or something? A 25 gallon isn't even a big tank.

    • @Aquascape_Dreaming
      @Aquascape_Dreaming 3 роки тому

      Almost all Goldfish are actually the same breed, there's just various mutations that have been encouraged to form for asthetics. ALL goldfish will grow huge if they live long enough.
      As for your 10 gallon tank being a temporary holding, it should be fine even for a couple of years, but make sure to rehouse your goldfish after this time if you want it to have a better quality life.
