      Hi David, it was a surprise as we had no idea that the railway had one. Quite strange having the whole coach to ourselves! Cheers Rick

    Hello again Pauline, Rick and Bobby! I remember my oldest daughter, she now 24, going on the round robin trip, we did it in the other direction. Why I remember it is two reasons, firstly I have a picture in my head of Sammy, about three or four, sitting at the front of the boat eating a bag of crisps with the wind blowing a gale and secondly, I had a terribly painful big toe joint that started over night, I could hardly walk. It was my first gout attack, happy days.
    One another thing is that the Embankment Bistro was originally build by Brunel as a railway station for Dartmouth, but it the line was never layed to Dartmouth
    . Best Wishes Harry

    Oh, there I parked my sail yacht, keep on forgetting those things…🤣
    Don't know if I would be keen on an open bus ride, but you got to have the full experience.
    But the rail trip was fab, love the GWR and the south coast railways.
    That panorama coach love it, there is also a model of that coach, unfortunately don't have it in the collection.
    great video…
    Cheers, Danny

    A very enjoyable offering. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Michael, Bobby is quite the steam enthusiast and very calm around hissing and puffing steam locos having seen so many. The carriage was very nice and quite the surprise as we didn't even know the railway had one. Thanks for watching Rick

    Apologies for the daft question. How do the carriages get power for the lights when the train is steam powered?

    • @wellchuffedrailways
      @wellchuffedrailways  2 дні тому +1

      Hi there are original it was batteries under the coaches connected to a dynamo which is belt driven from the wheels. A more modern method is to externally charge the batteries. Some of these have been replaced by an on board generator which would power the whole train. Cheers Rick

    Useful video thanks as I’m in two minds about this railway’s idiosyncrasies. ‘Poppy’, the old carriage, is a former DMU centre car, possibly a Class 118?

    For those who could not read the price on the ticket. It’s £39.50 per adult, child age3-15 £25.00, 2 adults and 2 children £115.00,

    Come on now “steam train”, do you mean steam locomotive? A steam train is like rocking horse *hit. Was looking forward to seeing a SMU, seem plenty of EMU’s and DMU’s. When you find one will enjoy the rare video, keep hunting. 😂

    • @andyaccount
      @andyaccount 2 дні тому

      A steam train is hauled, or pushed, by a steam locomotive, so both terms are correct. It is only technically a steam locomotive when it has no rolling stock. The exception to that is the steam Railmotor , which is a steam powered coach on it's own, but still a train, although could sometimes be hauling extra coaches as well, or is that what you mean by a SMU.
