I can remember it very well when I finally beat Cynthia in Pokémon Diamond for the first time with my "slightly" overleveled Torterra (it was like Lvl. 76). That was such a great feeling:D I think I was ten years old at this time.
I beat Cynthia with underlevel pokemons on 2nd try, but It was the first time of my life that I used Pokémon held items and also carefully staling some pokemons moves and use intimadate during the staling. Previous games I just go "pokemon attack goes brrrr" 😅
I want to talk about 1 the redchain on palkia and dialga was the perfect copy of arceus arch and 2 during chyntia’s theme we see ghotitelle’s leg and are comically short
The Nintendo DS contained an era of Pokemon games that can probably never be replicated again. Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, HeartGold/SoulSilver, Black/White/Black2/White2 were all wonderful games that shaped many childhoods and still prove to be masterpieces to this day.

And then it went south in Gen 6 with the only good thing that came out being ORAS’s Delta Episode. Megas Z moves and Dynamax are cool but they can be broken at times. The writing also leaves much to be desired especially in gens 6 and 8
Cynthia's theme is so powerful. There's so many layers to it giving your final battle waves of random feelings. Her theme definitely gives her justice and Mammalizer's build up towards Cynthia's theme was so good.
He's one of my all-time favorite rivals, because he's just so endearing. His poofy hairstyle is the cutest, it's essentially the same as Maylene's, perhaps that's why one is my favorite Sinnoh gym leader and another is my favorite Sinnoh rival (... not that there were any other good options for a rival lol).
I can’t help but somehow get the most emotional when I hear gen 4 music. Gen 5 definitely had so many bangers but something about this generation just hits the kid in me extra hard

As a child I was massively held back by my mother especially when it came to games, she ment it was the devil or so. Eventually when I finally where allowed to play games, not watching others but myself, it became pokemon diamond on a DS lite. Long had I watched friends on their gameboys playing pokemon and finally o could as well. Gen four is super nostalgic for that reason evey moment where huge, and as someone who isn't native english speaking it was great at teaching small words and reading, a few that comes to mind is save and key, but they where definitely a lot more. Sitting and listening through the music and seeing the areas hits a bit, it makes you want to go back to the times of childhood and not being an adult for a bit. But at the same time we all have our reasons for how we spend our free time, mine was games and drawing, games would eventually overtake it all. It was my escape from the rough things around the times then, so sitting here being nostalgic about my escape activity is really something, and as much as I'd want a break like those where, I wouldn't wish back everything else surrounding that time period. I guess one of the luxuries of being done with that period and moved on, is that you can look back at something like that and just the good, without what surrounded one then on you now. Without what you ran from and only what you enjoyed, what gave you that break fully, and in peace.
my relationship with my mom was turbulent to say the least, i played gens 3 (emerald), 4 (platinum & soul silver) and 5 (black) in that time period. the only thing i could look back all those years and tell you about from gen 3 was the hotspring in lavaridge town, the fact i liked torchic more than mudkip and the cloning glitch in the battle tower, and gen 5 i could tell you about was that zekrom was cool, but to this day whenever i hear the lake theme, twinleaf town, welcome to the world of pokemon or the eterna forest theme, i tear up. im aware that the music from gen 5 is widely considered to be the best but in my eyes, absolutely nothing gamefreak or nintendo could do with pokemon games can ever match the impact pokemon platinum had on me.

So many of these songs perfectly represent they're homes. Twinleaf Town's theme sounds like home. Jubilife has a touch of modernity. Oreburgh gives the idea of miners off to work. And Spear Pillar truly makes you feel like you're in the domain of Gods.
There's more love in this one than most of their other videos. The rest got me laughing and vibing and were mostly in random orders. This one made me feel like I played Platinum again for the first time. I'm not okay
Dude this is incredible. It legit made me feel like a kid again, playing the game and experiencing the story with wonder and excitement. As we get older we almost forget this, but it comes out once in a while. Thanks!
Diamond was the first game I played as a kid, did I ever beat it? No, I found joy in resetting and choosing different starters. When I heard news of the remakes I wanted to finally finish Diamond version, this time I chose Turtwig and had a whole bunch of old memories come back to me. I haven't finished the game yet, I am just trying to enjoy the game and catch as many Pokemon as I can now that Diamond doesn't connect to internet. After hearing the horror stories to Cynthia I can't wait to see the battle for myself. I want the first Pokemon game I ever player to be the first I finished.
Also I would suggest to adjust your expectations. The person in charge of the OST of the remixes is the same person of the Let's Go remixes. So if you liked those, then all good, but his style is a little different compared to what Game Freak used in ORAS for example.
It's crazy how I can go literally *anywhere* in this game and the music accompanying my journey will slap and will make my experience that much better. Truly beautiful

Ah yes, Gen 4. Over 600 hours on Pearl and Platinum combined. I remember releasing my Infernape to signify the end of my journey and then sold Pearl. Only to come back to Platinum and do it all again. Edit: I released my Infernape once my teenage mind comprehended the idea of EV training because battle colleseum released around the same time as gen 4 and my friend who got diamond always beat my team, no matter the type advantage. I straight up rage quit Pearl because I thought it was bullshit that he had a better team than me because he EV trained. And the idea of starting over from scratch to EV train another team was too much. Lmao, thanks for the likes.
I just wish they gave us straight up Griseous Platinum. It was earned. Way more than DP. Plat is best of the gen 4 games. By. Far. Not counting HG and SS.

although lots of kids my age started out with gen 4, i didn't get to play these games, i started out with b/w and i really wish i can feel the heart crushing nostalgia some of you have for this.
Most people I know played both Gen 4 or Gen 5 or both. I sadly never got to play diamond and pearl since my first game was Heartgold and then later got Pokémon black.

I first played Platinum when I was 6 and I bought a already used version, and when I opened the previous owner' save and went to the inventory, I had found 999 Rare Candies 999 Master Balls, and 999 of everything, I thought that this was normal and just gave 400 rare candies to the Pokemon amd my party and beat all the gyms and Cynthia, thanks to whoever that cheated in all those items then sold it at gamestop so they could sell it to me.
When Rowan showed up on the screen. That was all it took combined with his OG music to bring me to tears. I have so many fond memories of playing diamond when I was a kid. They aren't the perfect remakes we wanted, but they still take me back to being a kid again all the same, just like that track when Rowan introduces you to the world of pokemon.

Eterna Forest theme will always have a special place in my heart.

As a child I was massively held back by my mother especially when it came to games, she ment it was the devil or so.
Eventually when I finally where allowed to play games, not watching others but myself, it became pokemon diamond on a DS lite. Long had I watched friends on their gameboys playing pokemon and finally o could as well.
Gen four is super nostalgic for that reason evey moment where huge, and as someone who isn't native english speaking it was great at teaching small words and reading, a few that comes to mind is save and key, but they where definitely a lot more.
Sitting and listening through the music and seeing the areas hits a bit, it makes you want to go back to the times of childhood and not being an adult for a bit.
But at the same time we all have our reasons for how we spend our free time, mine was games and drawing, games would eventually overtake it all.
It was my escape from the rough things around the times then, so sitting here being nostalgic about my escape activity is really something, and as much as I'd want a break like those where, I wouldn't wish back everything else surrounding that time period.
I guess one of the luxuries of being done with that period and moved on, is that you can look back at something like that and just the good, without what surrounded one then on you now.
Without what you ran from and only what you enjoyed, what gave you that break fully, and in peace.

my relationship with my mom was turbulent to say the least, i played gens 3 (emerald), 4 (platinum & soul silver) and 5 (black) in that time period. the only thing i could look back all those years and tell you about from gen 3 was the hotspring in lavaridge town, the fact i liked torchic more than mudkip and the cloning glitch in the battle tower, and gen 5 i could tell you about was that zekrom was cool, but to this day whenever i hear the lake theme, twinleaf town, welcome to the world of pokemon or the eterna forest theme, i tear up. im aware that the music from gen 5 is widely considered to be the best but in my eyes, absolutely nothing gamefreak or nintendo could do with pokemon games can ever match the impact pokemon platinum had on me.
why is this me? My parents thought pokemon was satan but let me get the game for christmas and pokemon diamond has so many memories for me because of it.

Diamond was the first game I played as a kid, did I ever beat it? No, I found joy in resetting and choosing different starters. When I heard news of the remakes I wanted to finally finish Diamond version, this time I chose Turtwig and had a whole bunch of old memories come back to me. I haven't finished the game yet, I am just trying to enjoy the game and catch as many Pokemon as I can now that Diamond doesn't connect to internet. After hearing the horror stories to Cynthia I can't wait to see the battle for myself. I want the first Pokemon game I ever player to be the first I finished.

The person in charge of the OST of the remixes is the same person of the Let's Go remixes. So if you liked those, then all good, but his style is a little different compared to what Game Freak used in ORAS for example.

Ah yes, Gen 4. Over 600 hours on Pearl and Platinum combined. I remember releasing my Infernape to signify the end of my journey and then sold Pearl. Only to come back to Platinum and do it all again.
Edit: I released my Infernape once my teenage mind comprehended the idea of EV training because battle colleseum released around the same time as gen 4 and my friend who got diamond always beat my team, no matter the type advantage. I straight up rage quit Pearl because I thought it was bullshit that he had a better team than me because he EV trained. And the idea of starting over from scratch to EV train another team was too much. Lmao, thanks for the likes.

The nostalgia is fucking immense for Platinum. Gen 5 nostalgia not as much but those games slap HARD as well.
Most people I know played both Gen 4 or Gen 5 or both. I sadly never got to play diamond and pearl since my first game was Heartgold and then later got Pokémon black.

I first played Platinum when I was 6 and I bought a already used version, and when I opened the previous owner' save and went to the inventory, I had found 999 Rare Candies 999 Master Balls, and 999 of everything, I thought that this was normal and just gave 400 rare candies to the Pokemon amd my party and beat all the gyms and Cynthia, thanks to whoever that cheated in all those items then sold it at gamestop so they could sell it to me.

When Rowan showed up on the screen. That was all it took combined with his OG music to bring me to tears. I have so many fond memories of playing diamond when I was a kid. They aren't the perfect remakes we wanted, but they still take me back to being a kid again all the same, just like that track when Rowan introduces you to the world of pokemon.
