Thanks This UC1 is good but would have been great if it had a fader to control the DAW channel volume. I surely would have bought it. The UF8 would be added for users who needed extra faders.
If it had a fader... that would be too good to be true! That thought hadn't crossed my mind. I've been told I'd love the UF8, but I'm not sure if I'll pull the trigger on it. I've been mixing quick just using my DAW mixer interface.
To me it would be perfect with: 1 Motorized Fader for the Channel, one endless encouder for the Pan of the channel, and one extra knob and motorized fader to controll anything I have under the mouse pointer (this is how I work with Platform M+ and NOB Controller)... So if it had this, I could use just one page on the Platform for Quick Controlls and Focuse Quick Controlls.
It’s time for them to come out with an ssl desk that is an only a controller. Maybe like the Origin but just a controller with the look and feel. Avid/digi has done it so why not. Completely in the box I think most studios would have one. I also think every classic piece of hardware should have a controller. La2a/1176/ pulltec so on. A controller that fills the rack slots doesn’t need any depth just the faceplate and usb. It’s coming.
I haven't put together a part 2 yet... but I can tell you know, I LOVE this unit. I've had the chance to use it on multiple projects and i've really enjoyed it. The UC1 itself is great and makes you use your ears more. But the plugins.... they just sound great for being a plugins. I have zero hesitation putting the Channel Strip on every track on a project and mixing it as if it were a console. And using the Bus Compressor on group channels and particular tracks, it works fantastically. Between the UC1, it's 2 plugins and my analog gear... i've never been happier mixing!
@@ZachWirchak I totally want it to feel I am tweeking some knoobs instead clicking on a digital button, and of course to speed my mixeng. Gonna put it on my xmas gift list to me hahahaha thank you.. Pretty coll and informative video
You know that... that is a great question. I have never tried! I'm just so insanely happy with the SSL plugins, I've never tried setting it up to control other plugins.
The UC1 is actually a plugin controller. That's what it's built for and with the new SSL 360 Link software you can now use it to control third party plugins as well. If you don't want a dedicated plugin controller, you could go for the UF1 which is a DAW Controller but also allows you to control plugins while in Focus Mode.
@@ZachWirchak did you get that 4B update? It sounds dope. I’m serious considering pick one up soon, my productivity has dropped significantly because I’m not interested in mixing.
It follows whatever track has the plugins loaded. But it only advances via the UC1. The highlighted track in the DAW doesn't change with it. I'm not in front of my unit right this second (traveling), but I'm 99% that's correct.
It's actually 2 plugins. But in my opinion it's more than that. It's faster work flow, more enjoyable mixing experience and the plugins are some of the better ones i've ever worked with. If you ever get a chance to work with the UC1 and it's plugins, I high recommend giving it a shot!
Very Unformidable, I was hoping to see the actual setup process, connecting it up with Cubase. Perhaps in another video. There are not concise videos on how to get it running in Cubase.
Once I got the plugins installed, It was super easy! All you do is plug it in! Cubase found it right away and I was up and running in seconds. It connects via USB and it's own power supply.
@@ZachWirchak Thanks, I appreciate your videos. I purchased The UF8 And it is just sitting on my desk, as it is imho a pain to get it working in Cubase 12 Pro. I was wondering if the UC1 Was as Difficult to get it working in Cubase.
SSL has excellent videos on how to set up all their controllers. I just bought the UF1 and the SSL video gave me a complete walk through. Thinking about buying the UC1 as well especially since you can now use it to control virtually any 3rd party plugin once you install the new 360 Link software.
Are you looking to get an SSL UC1? Or do you already have one?
At this time I'm using wave plug ins. But I always look into other options. but I also gotta work within my budget.
@@briansmart3849 Waves has a lot of great options for a great price! I've got a handful myself.
Ordered one yesterday..........
@@PETSH0PB0YS1 nice! I hope you enjoy it!
Mine just came in today! I ordered the bundle. Waiting on the UF-8 and the UF-1 to arrive.
so basically any midi controller (akai, behringer, etc...) does the same thing?
Love the video Zach.........Wow - can't believe there is a dedicated switch to turn the meter light on & off!
The UC1 is a great unit!
Thanks

The daw would have to partner with them.
isnt it possible to map a nob to the fader
I guess you can keep the fader on Unity Point and use the Output Gain knob
If you select a channel on screen with the mouse, does the uc1 set to that channel or do you still have to use the knob?

So agree with that
Hi. Can you sweep 2 knobs at once on that. Like sweeping an eq analog style
Yup! You can twist as many knobs at the same time as you have hands.
@@ZachWirchak cool. Thanks. The 4kB channel sounds amazing

@KWM it is super gratifying physically twisting the knobs for sure! Makes my mixes better for sure mixing by ear vs my eyes.
Hey brother grettings first of all! Can you use it without plugins?

Since your purchase has mixing become more fun?
I can say 100% it has been more fun! I feel my mixes are better too. The plugins are really good too. The quality of the EQ has truly impressed me!

Hi, may i ask what if you change to other compressor plugin? Will it still works?
wish you did a live example not just explaing what it does just my 2 cents

Do you the plugins come free with the controller or the controller with the plug ins 🤔
Great question! Lol!
Ty
You're welcome!
Man plugin use with controller is it worth I think noooooooo
Rick Ness lookalike.
That’s cool but it’s still going off of digital plugins
