Gibson marketing are desperate, Ricks got a channel that has 4 millio nsubs, Noel Gallagher has had 15 number 1 uk rock albums and sold 100+ million albums and played in his rock band at Wembley stadium (100,000 capacity) and sold out Knebworth 250,000 fans.
Gibson signature should only be given to rock legends not UA-cam influencers, whats next Rappers who appear in videos pretending to play guitars getting deals !
Gibson need a marketing rethink or in 2030 they may not exist anymore !

The guitar sounds outstanding. I like the blue color and open pore finish. I think the guitar looks even better without the pickguard. Love the sound of P90s, and the feel of a thin neck. The light weight, and balance (no neck dive) are a big plus. Getting a guitar that you don't have to "fix" is worth something of a premium, and donating his share to a worthy cause is good form. It is perhaps a bit pricey, but that's a nice guitar.

The quality on the bench looked great as well. I really don't see the problem here. Okay, price is steep, but if I could play nitro finished guitars, I would definitely take this over P90 LP standard.

LP DC specials as a LP DC Jr which i have (with 2 pups now though) great light guitars. But it so uncomortambly for using during sitting process - learning new material or sofa training - it has too narrow distance between your leg and pikups, and too heavy back part of guitar. It needs an additioanal control everytime as a LP standard. Strats way too convenient in that way.
Need to say i would rather prefer LP tribute series with maple neck, which i have - chould be a litle bit better balance and way too durable neck.

They should have listed it between 1200-1400. I do love the P90s, though. I think they put the P100s in the previous run of LP Specials.

Besides them selling out, $2k is well over what I could/would spend on a new Gibson spec'd like this.

    Greetings Austin!
I picked up an Epiphone Les Paul in 2019 that is painted in Pelham Blue, it has a gloss finish on top but the satin finish on the back and sides, non of the paint has worn through nor chipped off since April of 2019, so you may find that the finish on that guitar is much more durable than it seems.
It is the only one that I have seen in this paint job with the back of the guitar in the same color but with the satin finish, while having a gloss finish on the top. It also has coil splits on the classic alnico pickups, and it sounds great.
Thank you for posting these videos!
Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🎸

Don't be disappointed by this Trogly, its my favourite guitar of my collection. (Strat, Rickenbacker 330, SG and Epiphone Joe Pass)- The satin finish means the neck is never sticky, the p90's are fab, and the weight makes it comfortable. It's basic, whilst lacking nothing. That’s awesome Rick gave this model some love! I love my 2003! I rode mine pretty hard the first few years I had it, I wore the frets flat, but the finish is still on it. Polished up in a few places from playing, but still intact. The old ones don’t have the bound fretboard, oh well, I kind of prefer it. The big problem I found was the Gibson branded pots! Trogly, revisit and check the pots! Mine were 250k which made it sound dark and muddy, kind of like your tone test in the video. Swap those for 500k pots and it suddenly sounds like P90’s! I’m not kidding, watch out for those Gibson branded pots. I’ve seen them go both ways, but I feel like they put them in cheaper models so people will want to spend on the pricier models that sound better. All that being said, those are really great guitars that will really treat you well, especially when they were cheap. I think they were $750 back then, I got mine scratch and dent for $425. Scratch and dent on a “worn” finish… hehe. I love that guitar.

Everything unnecessary is gone, no grain filer, ultra thin lacquer, less wood, only decal logo. It sounds, resonates and plays just fantastic. The best thing is that it's super light. I never thought this would have such an impact. Picking it up and playing is such a rewarding joy. This one is for the player and I'm not gonna collect it, instead i'll play the shit out of it. I've bought the Beato Book and I really like the way Rick is donating his part of the proceeds, but it seems slightly ironic that, as someone so noted as a music teacher, he and Gibson didn't develop a model that combines high quality and greater affordability for student players. I can't pretend I like the factory-fresh metallic finish over open grain (sorry - it somehow looks a bit "cheap" to me), but it will be interesting to see how it wears if it's as thinly applied as you say - it might really come to life and match the "no-nonsense, working guitar" vibe that Rick's signature model otherwise has.

Rick Beato is a music juggernaut in the UA-cam world... for a good reason. The guy knows his music and has been a phenomenal addition to the music community for the longest time. People bought his guitar for the hype, the name, the nostalgia. However, this is a middle range guitar priced at a premium price. Would be right at $1,000 if it wasn't "Rick Beato"; I really hope whoever bought these enjoys playing them for the memories of all the hours spent watching Rick Beato UA-cam videos!!!
Can't really be negative about this since I've done something similar to this before, so I 100% understand why people pay so much for mediocre instruments. I was really into Stone Temple Pilots while playing bass guitar for a rock band. Found a Schecter Robert DeLeo Signature guitar and overpaid for what was hard to find at the time. Lol I still have it and it still puts a smile on my face because every time I play the thing, I remember all the concerts I went to and all the STP songs I played at gigs. For the sentimental reasons, this Rick Beato guitar is worth the money if you're a huge fan of the guy.

I'm excited for mine to come in. I've been shopping for a p90 guitar for awhile, and when I found out about this guitar I kept my eye on its release. I am excited to own one of these because there aren't many double cuts out there that I've liked, and this guitar is gorgeous. I love the blue, and I really like how the finish shows the grain. I think the fact Rick's proceeds went to charity, it's a unique finish, and a thin body; make up for the 200$ price difference one would have to pay to get a brand new les paul special at 1799$, and that's not even a double cut (which i personally prefer the look of), and no tune-o-matic.
We'll see how limited this release is. If it remains a single 500 guitar run, i think the collector value of this, mint or otherwise because of its unique colored finish, will more than retain/grow the value/cost difference of other 2022 new specials. If they have 3-4 more runs, maybe not, but considering they sold out within hours of the first day of launch, I can't imagine it won't sell more or be worth collecting regardless.

I think the price is just indicative of how stupidly expensive Gibsons are getting nowadays. A regular single cut special is $1800 now. The only other doublecut specials on offer right now are the custom shop reissues. The closest comparable artist model (given artist inflation and whatnot) is Tony Iommi's SG, which is $400 more for a different strap position and bridge. Meanwhile you can get a regular SG Special for $800 cheaper. Gibsons in general just cost too much new to be justified, even with wood shortages.

To answer your question, I like Rick but it just happens to be exactly the guitar I'd wanted to buy: flat-top double cut with that particular pickguard in that particular color. Was actually expecting it to look darker like Fender's Lake Placid Blue Satin on the American Precision Bass so that's a little disappointing, but a minor complaint. If almost any other detail had been different I wouldn't have bought it, but the fact that such an experienced musician and producer loved this guitar this much does add a bit of confidence for me in buying a guitar that is different than any of my others (I play heavier music where humbuckers are the way to go). I agree that an ebony fretboard would have made it perfect.
I do have to disagree about them being the same as the recent ones. I looked at those a lot and could never bring myself to spend $800 on an ugly dark blue with 2 knobs and a hideous pickguard. Not saying I think this is objectively worth the $2k price but I bought it the second I could so it was an easy call for me and my tastes.

All in all it cost just under $550 and is a truly unique guitar and a blues / rock and even jazz BEAST! It's easily as good as my 59 reissue they are difference but I'd not say one is massively better than the other as it has less tone because of the slim body but the unique pick ups give it a unique sound anyway, the 2014MM is also more comfortable if that matters? crazy or what?

Can you find a DC Special with a thin satin finish (not the glossy versions with big pickguards yuck!) that are priced under 2K? Nope. Only if you get lucky 2nd hand or through a demo shop fluke. If there was a Black Rick Beato with that thin finish for $1900 in the Nashville Garage, it would be on my wish list for certain. I wish there was a standard DC with a not glossy finish priced like the Specials .. but surprisingly the RB signature is the closest thing price wise.

I been waiting for a while too see a proper Les Paul Special to be released from the USA Lineup. But with that being said, I feel Gibson dropped the ball on this one big time. Now I get that maybe Beato wanted these exact specs, and thats good for him, but this is not worth $2000. Gibson, please continue making these style Les Paul specials, but don't cheap out on the things that makes these Les Paul Specials special. I would love to see Gibson bring out these Les Paul Specials but maybe with a TV Yellow finish or another finish color. Also, please have the inlaid headstock, not the cheapo Silk Screen headstock. Thats what confuses people of determining of this is a junior or a special. I think the Les Paul Specials from the 90s did it right.i guess until then, ill continue to wait or keep on hunting for a 90s Les Paul special.

Yeah, like how much are those 'Custom Shop' 50s LP Jr/special REISSUES? Aren't they between $2k-$3k
I guess you'd be stuck with TV Yellow instead of Blue Mist, but at least you're getting a CUSTOM for the extra cash, rather than just a truss rod cover with some 'soon' to e anonymous 'UA-cam' celebrity...

determining of this is a junior or a special. ---- uhhh no, that's not it, JRs have one pickup and specials have two. Maybe you are confused by the Tribute series, maybe you're confused that gibson has called some dual humbucker LPs specials, but it's not the JR that's confusing lol.

I think Rick mentioned something about that in his own video on this model a couple days ago. He also talked about wanting the thin finish and lack of grain fill due to both comfort and tone.

I remember in the early 2000's Gibson came out with the "Faded" series. Flying V's, Les Paul Special double cuts, and SG's. They were a steal and a half at $500 each. I bought a Flying V and a Special. They were great guitars with the exact same specs as their full priced counter parts. I kick myself every day for selling them.

I haven’t had the chance to play one yet but from the reviews I have seen so far most people really like them, most say the pick ups sound amazing, the neck feels great and let’s be honest people doing guitar reviews are generally as negative as possible so for people to even be somewhat positive about this guitar really says a lot imo. I like how the pick up selector was moved to where the knobs are that’s one thing I will never understand why they put the pick up switch’s up top on Gibsons it makes no sense to me. IMO all switches and knobs should be close together so u can make quick changes/adjustments, if I’m switching pick ups and need to adjust the volume I could do both at the same time on Ricks guitar. The switch really is just in the way I have hit the switch on my les Paul a bunch of times when tapping and also just when strumming playing a live gig running around stage. Some people have no problems with it there and many people do. I prefer to play strat style guitars for live shows they feel better to me but in the studio it’s always my hot rod fed les Paul it doesn’t matter how many guitars show up at the studio to demo for guitar tones for recording everyone always picks my les Paul. It does sound absolutely amazing but it just doesn’t feel right in my hands. I actually got rid of one tone knob and wired it to use one tone knob and moved the pick up switch to where the one tone knob was and it’s so much better there. A few guitarist seen my guitar with the switch moved and the next time I seen them play they did the same thing, these players were all lead players so Obviously a lot of people don’t like where the switches are and it’s surprising they don’t move them.

The finish looks very very similar to a USA PRS S2 satin which are one of the best guitars going for the money these days IMO. I own two S2s and they are both amazing.
