Another incredible production Josh. We are subscribed to almost all the silent bushwalk UA-camrs as it's one of our favourite styles.. and both my partner and I agree you are a step above the best of them. Thanks for your time and effort as always.
This is an amazing record of a multi-day hike and mesmerising to watch. I blog my walks to friends but feel very inadequate after watching this effort. Very inspiring I feel like I was there with Josh.
Just love your videos of all your hikes Really professional style and so pleasurable to watch. Your filming gives a fabulous views with plenty of time to absorb the scene from insects to flower to stunning views without a damn selfie stick Keep up the great work
It’s always greener on the other side. I’m sure there’s plenty of people out there that wish they’d started a family earlier. Thanks for your kind words though :)
Amazing production and videography Josh. You have a great eye, I liked the leaf spinning on the web. Really nice touch. I imagine that there's lots of editing and post production back on site in your donga after shift. Keeps you out of the wettie I guess. Keep it up please.
Cheers Michael. Perhaps a few too many hours, although I wouldn’t have it any other way. The creative process can get a little addictive at times, hiking is only half the enjoyment for me.
Thanks! Such a beautiful region where you guys are! I actually stopped in for an ice cream on my way through but I must have missed timed it as the shop was closed :'(
@@JoshCarrHikes Yes our kiosk is only open subject to demand but we always have icecreams in our Reception at the other end of the park which is open 8.30-5pm every day (except Christmas Day). Would you mind if we shared this amazing footage on Hamelin Bay Holiday Park's youtube page?
There's no way this only has 11k views, Idk when, but this channel is gonna blow up! There might be some value in making an instagram, twitter, and facebook page to keep people informed about what you're working on, and when new videos are up, I believe that's a pretty standard method to increase engagement. Also patreon might be a potentially good option to help fund these trips and allow you to make more videos. Lastly, I'm sure there's tons of brands that would be willing to work with you and there could be some benefit in getting in touch with with brands that seem to sponsor other hiking creators. Basically the quality is 1000% there, but I think some strategic use of social media could help gain a corresponding amount of traction. Just my 2 cents! And again, great video, thank you for making this!!!
Sorry more thoughts: - Potentially splitting this into 2 parts might generate more views, and considering the quality, that wouldn't be unreasonable, I think - Adding cc's describing what your doing and general thoughts throughout the hike might be an interesting additional, similar to how the channel Primitive Technology does - The colour palette, sound design (music choice, balance between music and nature sounds), the order of different shots, the variety of shots, the 4k definition option, and so much else about this is just spectacular, you really are incredible at this!! - I feel like you also have an edge on UA-cam, cuz it seems like practically no one is filming Australian hikes in this high quality, from at least what I could tell - You have a great sense of humour too 😆
Thanks mate, really appreciate the feedback. When I posted a new video on the channel I will promote it on other platforms such as reddit, IG reels, Tiktok & Facebook. Some posts tend to get a bit of traction but overall I think it’s the lack of regular uploads that are hurting the channel growth. It used to be a concern of mine but I’ve since taken a step back and will look at as an ongoing project of 10+ years. It’d be the dream to be able to do it full time but realistically I think that’s a long way from happening. I’ve thought about setting up a Patreon but I just don’t feel that there’d be the support, plus I wouldn’t feel like I need it as I’m relatively well off & in a stable job for the most part. I really like the idea of incorporating comments though like Primitive Technology, might do that in the next upload!
A great film Josh you're right to call it that, as its beautifully crafted mate, loved the leaf! How hard were the 30k plus days? The contrast between the Tamala limestone and the granite beaches is great, the granite being my favourite as it is so colourful!
Thanks mate! The first day definitely tested the endurance levels. Ended up walking the last 2 hours in the dark and rain but apart from that it wasn’t too bad. It’s certainly a sight to see - Some would even say that the granite is very gneiss ;) (geology nerd here)
What an amazing job. I know what it must have taken to get some of those shots, and this is a really top-quality production. It deserves thousands more views! I'm also now totally set on doing this walk as soon as we're allowed to travel again. Thanks, Josh!
I love the in-depth nature of how you went about filming this trip, it's a trail I have always wanted to try but have never been sure how to go about doing it. This is not only gorgeous but incredibly informative
Cheers, really appreciate it! If I get the time I may look at doing a guide on how to do the Cape to Cape in a bit more detail. There's a bit of info out there on the web to dig through but hardly anything video wise, so we will see! If you get the chance to I'd highly recommend giving the trail a crack
I couldn’t even keep a straight face if I was recording lol ! I’d laught ! Love your video brother ! I’m heading down to tassie this November to 3 capes so excited ! Cheers for the videos . Keep them coming ! It’s so good to get away from society and blend in with nature ! If it wasn’t for your videos I wouldn’t had the motivation to go ! Cheers again josh
Cool video, brought back a lot of memories from my end to end in 2018. So many outstanding moments throughout the 5 or 6 days. My highlights were Moses Rock campsite - like you, I got there after dark after a real day's struggle. The cliffs before Contos campsite, the karri forest after Contos, the beach walks coming into and out of Deepdene, all amazing.
Such an amazing video! I loved every bit of it. I also really liked the story telling at the end. So happy you enjoyed it! Which other ones are you looking at doing in WA? 😁
Great video!! Some seriously awesome cinematography going on there. This one has been on my list for a while as well. Makes me want to book that flight... hopefully soon.
That was a great moment. I was wondering about the set up of that shot getting you left hand in focus. May have commented beforehand but reiterate that you have a great eye and are an amazing talent as a videographer and editor. Just amazing work right down to the music. Magic...
Thanks mate. Adds a bit of time onto the hike but well worth it getting to show off our beautiful country to others that might not be fortunate enough to see it.
Nice one Josh, brought back great memories when I did it in Jan 2019. So many amazing spots, hitting that perch at Contos was one of the highlights. Those final southern beaches look as soft as ever. My hats off to you doing the kms & getting all the photography/drone work in. Did a quick early morning section Yallingup to Naturaliste a couple of weeks ago on Jun 1 & remember running into a guy geared like you at the trail near Sugarloaf.
Contos was definitely one of my highlights too. I’d heard it was good and seen the odd photo but actually standing/sitting there and taking it all in was something special. Ah bugger you would have just missed me! I was at sugarloaf on the 30th May
Also looking at doing this on RnR. Unfortunately will have to Fastpack it over 3 days. The cinematography was some of the best I have seen on hiking channels on UA-cam.
Great video mate. Just a question.... What's shelter like between yallingup to moses rock? I'm off soon and there's a bloody blizzard it seems for my second day.
Hey Tim sorry about the delayed response. By shelter I’m assuming shelter from the elements while you’re hiking? Unfortunately not too much from what I can recall. Being up against the coastline for basically all of it leaves you pretty exposed. There’s a bit a reprieve after Quinninup Falls but I was hiking in the dark by then so couldn’t really tell where I was headed 😅
Gday mate..I love your videos..I'm interested in riding the trails...Can you suggest any trails you've treked that are also accessible by bike?...I've tried a couple here in South Australia's Fleurieau Peninsular that ended up with cliffs...
Can’t say I’ve been on too many that are designed for bikes as well. Have you looked into the Munda Biddi or the Kep Track? Both are meant to be pretty decent rides
Where did you stay each night? (Sorry if this is pointed out somewhere that I haven't found yet). I am especially interested in the campgrounds with water refill opportunities and the air bnb
From North to South the order of places I stayed at were Moses Rock, Ellensbrook, an airbnb in gnarabup, Point Rd & Deepdene. All the sites had rain water tanks aside from Point Rd but I just filled up at Contos which was only a couple kms away. Hope that helps!
Hey mate, yeah I filtered all the water I drank just to be safe. And yeah pretty sure it was the Sawyer s2. I’ve since got a Katadyn befree bottle/filter though and it’s much better for weight and portability. Edit: I’ll add on this trip I was filtering and using tablets as well which was probably way over kill. Either one or the other will do the job
Your videos are nothing less than visual poetry

Josh Carr Hikes haha the Tamala that runs down the coast from N of Kalbarri to Margs is the second biggest deposit in the world after Bermuda 😉
That’s one I didn’t know! I’ll add that to my long list of useless geology facts that I’ll probably never use :p
