Don ... this must be one of our favourite videos for its honesty and depiction of how at times we have absolutely no control of circumstances. Dad was sad that covid was the ruiner of plans. It did however make this episode bittersweet and poignant. The music by Matt Smith was just perfect. As always, Dad and I are very proud of you, Mum
One of the finest walks in Aus & in my top 3 in WA . Awesome series well done. The personal aspect must have been hard but hopefully you’ll get to hike somewhere meaningful with your dad again.
Great vid Don… you might of just convinced me to re walk the Cape to Cape after I finish the Bibb later this year… and BBQ shapes are perfect the hiker trash food🤣
Glad you enjoyed and are inspired to do it again! It’s a fantastic walk and worth repeat visits. I do like a hot meal at the end of the day, but the Shapes were sufficient. As I mentioned to Mark I’m more of a Pizza Shapes guy so that was probably my biggest disappointment :P
Don? Wow I just realised it was you. I've listened to so many podcasts but never seen you until now. Nice upload bro cheers. The long way is better except for the shortcuts in Abel Tasman national park
Hey, that's awesome! Thanks for listening to the podcast! My wife would always agree that shortcuts are acceptable :P. Which shortcuts in Abel Tasman National Park do you recommend? I did the Abel Tasman Coast Track in December 2019 and will definitely do it again with my kid in the future
@@thelongwaysbetter I'm in the planning to do Abel Tasman coast track in October with my 15 year old daughter and was listening to your real track talk just a couple days ago. I'm thinking of hiking/ kayaking/ boating for a good mix. I heard you mention a little shortcut near Awaroa Lodge.
@@nathanbates1260 oh yes... it's more an alternate route but I think it does end up a bit shorter. Well worth it for a nice meal in the middle of the track for sure! Enjoy the hike, I reckon it's a great one to take children on as it's not hard and a beautiful walk
@@Brain1962 I was well aware I was taking a risk using jazz as it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I stand by the choice given the music is from an album by a local artist who wrote songs inspired by this area. Thanks for watching anyway!

Thanks guys! It’s a shame it wasn’t what it was supposed to be, but I hope the series goes some way to showing you what the hike would’ve been like.
Such amazing vlogs forever I really enjoyed it
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!

Hopefully! We may end up doing one or two in Fitzgerald River one day 🤞
Great video and a good overview of what to expect when I do the first three days of the C2C in mid October. Thanks!
@@sherenestrahan thank you for your kind words. Hope you enjoy your Cape to Cape adventure and have great weather!
Beautiful place. The views are awesome. Thanks for sharing. subd & 👍10
Thank you so much, it's a great trail 👍

I was jazzed for this series and it didn't disappoint. Also, nothing wrong with BBQ Shapes as a dinner option.
LOL you know me, I like a proper meal for dinner, and a hot one preferably! I may have been less disappointed if it was Pizza Shape though!

Great video mate, to quote Seinfeld : they knew how to take the reservation, just not HOLD the reservation 😊
Hahaha, ain't that the truth!
And then it was such a saga to prove that we didn't actually stay and get our money back!
Yeah nah, Jazz is the wrong choice of music here! Only unmuted to hear what you had to say, else muted.
