"Masterfully crafted" ... yes I think that is a very good description - and not just for the song, but for the whole idea and concept behind these BABYMETAL Begins, Black Night and Clear Night concerts as they said goodbye to the original BABYMETAL, making them a legend, and started the new era with the newly reborn trio.🦊
Typically when they say "we" they are referring to The One, when they talk about themselves they do it in third person, "Babymetal," "Su-metal," "Moametal" etc.
a beautiful way to say goodbye to the Duo, lamenting about the past, now what would be crazy is if at Momo's Legend shows in March, they play this again with just Su and Moa, but when the saxophone solo comes along, Momo rises from beneath with a saxophone and belts out that solo herself, but I don't know if she can play saxophone and if she can, would she be comfortable soloing at a BM show, I know she can play a mean kazoo but a sax is a whole other thing...lol
I think this song marks the end of old BABYMETAL as they „retire“ to Legend status, being replaced with the new BABYMETAL. That’s why they performed this as a duo, as Momoko technically wasn’t a part of „old“ BABYMETAL.
The last show Babymetal did before they went on hiatus it ended with the stairway to living legend when Su-Metal and Moametal got to the top of the steps you see these three balls of light The third one representing Yuimetal fly off into space and this song was the answer to that and them ending that chapter of Babymetal before presenting Momoko as an official new member and introducing the new Babymetal
This was how they opened the show at Black Night in April this year. Because it was Black Night and Momo was not yet an offficial member, they opened with just Su and Moa. This was only the third and last time that it has been played live. I was lucky enough to be there to see it live, and while it's probably my least favourite song from the new album, it was still a great performance.
Another great reaction, thanks! This song (and its three performances) needs to be explained. They performed it as a show closer at Makuhari (x2) in January and opener at Yokohama in April, Three consecutive concerts before Momoko's announcement as an official member (it was announced in the end of the last one). They are not only closing the album with this song, they are actually closing a whole era. The third member you were expecting is Yui. She, Suzuka and Moa are the legends. In my opinion, it's very unlikely they perform it live again. Musically, I wasn't very sure at first (apart of Su's magnificent vocals and that unexpected sax solo). But I found myself walking through a city unknown to me after my first BABYMETAL concert and playing the song in my head, specifically the second verse. It hit me emotionally in a way I never expected, to the point I remember the exact place I was. Until next time! 🤘🦊
Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 A perfect track to finish this album, this is a clear statement and reminder they're _living legends_ now, and we don't need to be afraid of this as an end, let's be grateful coz a new beginning already started. Love this track and that unexpected sax touch gives this a more intimate feeling, they performed this at Makuhari Messe 2023 as an ender, and during Black Night at PIA Arena MM as an opener, perhaps another metaphor for this song, unfortunately no kami sax played that section. The Metalverse unit already debut at Summer Sonic with the their own set of new songs and 5 members on the stage, later at Spotify O-East they did a solo debut showing another new song as well performing some BM covers without a band, tracks aren't available yet but you can see a proshot version from Summer Sonic if you wanna know more about this BM side project. So sad this song is leaving only for Japanese shows. Anyway it fits totally with the lore in term of lyrics and music and hopefully they will play this again but like always OTFGK. Thanks for sharing this Metalverse journey and see you next time 🦊🤘🎷
The end and beginning of BABYMETAL was celebrated with a concert on April 1 and 2, 2023 in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, the birthplace of YUI and MOMO. This song, which means the end of everything, was performed as the first song of the first day of the concert. It is a song to end the era of BABYMETAL with YUI in order to start a new journey, although the feelings are the same as when they debuted. The hand sign that the two perform before the interlude represents the initials "Y" of YUI-METAL. On the second day, the song that started it all, METAL KINGDOM, was the first song of the concert, with MOMO-METAL wearing a microphone for the first time.
A very nice reaction. Love that you used the word "haunting" as I've often felt that about her vocals. There is just something in her delivery and vocal quality that distinguish it from other vocalists. Thanks for this reaction.
I so love the Smooth Jazz feel of The Legend, particularly in the middle verse and the bridge. This is even more so true of the album track. But then, I was a huge Smooth Jazz listener in the naughties (2000-2009). Most days it is my favorite song from TOO. Su- does the vocals just right. I would love to hear her do a few Sade covers. Almost forgot to mention, on the album track, in the last phrase, Su- does the cleanest, smoothest transition into falsetto I have ever heard. The extended little finger is a signifier of the Red Thread of Fate. There are some variances in the mythology but is said to bind one to the other that is significant to one's life path.
One hell of a performance give me chills and the bond between Su and Moa was strong notice them holding their little fingers up, i think signifies that ( Su did it in Akatsuki) love that sax as well ❤❤ 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
Babymetal has 4 albums and 50 or 60 songs but there is not one of them I will skip over. I guess Momo wouldn't qualify as a legend yet. Maybe Yui was there with them in spirit for this one instead. :)
My suggestions would be first to react to the live versions of studio album songs you've reacted to. So Megitsune, Metal Kingdom, Monochrome, Mirror Mirror, all are from the same concert, and are on the same channel. Beyond that I would recommend Road of Resistance and iine!, from the same concert, and Brand New Day, and From Dusk Till Dawn from Budokan 2021. All of them are on the same FTFG channel that had The Legend.
