Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐
Glad to see you're back with this track from the new album,
Another song with that typical wtf effect they get us used to it.
Queen SuMetal is narrating us a King's tale of the Metal Kingdom with this psytrance mixed with middle eastern, maybe Arabian or whatever sound that looks so cool with the unique blend of BM.
This was at BabyMetal Begins - The Other One - Clear Night live at PIA Arena MM, Yokohama, last April 2nd with the already new official member MomoMetal, she was one of the avengers since 2019 and coming from the same roots in Sakura Gakuin just like the girls. The Western Kami Band was performing there, although i like this live version i think the intro isn't so cool like MAYA or Time Wave, so for me it could have been cut out from this clip.
Some fans at Sabaton's Europe Tour and later at Asian and Australian Tour were enjoying this song live, but everyone were having a blast with the new singles and classic BM songs, so far at recent live shows in Europe they didn't play this, instead they brought back another song from Metal Galaxy album called Brand New Day which is a collab with guitarists of Polyphia, super recommended song.
    Next suggestion:
    - METALI!! feat. Tom Morello live at Summer Sonic Festival 2023 official (summer sonic channel).
Not sure about the Bollywood vibe because that is more like Indian style and this one is more like Middle Eastern but the psytrance got some roots on India so it could be certain familiarity.
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 Metalizm was premiered in the two-day shows on April 1/2 and I witnessed the both at the venue in Yokohama😍. This video is from Day-2 when Momoko appeared as the 3rd official member, Momometal, for the first time. Western (American) Kami Band did a great job in those shows. Chris, CJ, Clint and Anthony are literally unsung heroes whom we love.
You may have noticed the repetitive phrase "Zumu Zumu". It is interesting, because it reminds me of another phrase with tonal similarity "Muzu Muzu". When you feel itchy or tickling or a kind of slight frustration, Japanese people express it using this phrase "Muzu Muzu".
In an interview, Su referred to this song with Arabic flavor as "a new drawer of BABYMETAL" [source : magazine PMC vol. 27, page 41]. I viewed this choreo on stage by Su, Moa and Momometal as mixture of seriousness, playfulness, comicalness, therefore amazingness on top of Su's fantastic vocals and intricate guitar phrases and hefty drumming by West Kamis. This new drawer is a tribute to New BABYMETAL.

    Great reaction, thanks!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. The thing is that many said that they were going the "safe way" when the first singles off The Other ONE came out... and then, they dropped this mind-blowing song. Because everything about it is unusual and unexpected (even for BABYMETAL): the use of that particular minor harmonic scale (giving the song its Middle Eastern flavor), the lack of an actual chorus, replaced by two guitar solos, the onomatopoeic use of the tittle in the lyrics, etc. So yes, this is different from... well, everything else.
I was lucky enough to experience this song live in concert last May in Berlin and I have to say that the song kicks ass and the guitar solos are so freaking amazing. I believe that's the proper technical terminology. 🤣 Not to mention that they re-arranged the end of the first solo (compared to the studio version), played by CJ Masciantonio, probably to match the choreo better.
    Until next time!
    🤘🦊

    Interviewer: Can you sing?
    Su-Metal: Yes.
    I: What do you sing?
    S: Yes.
    I: I mean what style?
    S: Yes.
    I: Ok, what's your range?
    S: Yes.
    I: Can you--
    S: Yes.

I don’t know what it is about Metalizm, it’s not my favorite but I’ve listened to it a lot. It drags me in, and I need to listen to it again so I can hear every part of it. Yava would be the only one I can say I’ve listened to more, but I can sing along to Yava and identify with its existential crisis.. it is different… 🙃

"METALIZMIZUMIZUMU" - great song - Middle Eastern/Egyptian/Arabian (or similar) psy-trance metal at its best.🤘🦊🤘
No Bollywood in this one .... but they do that too, check out 'Shanti Shanti Shanti'.🦊

IF you want to see Babymetal do Bollywood, checkout Shanti Shanti Shanti, Indian reactors were having a field day applauding the cultural appreciation of that song, with the bollywood choreo and Indian cultural references in the lyrics..... Metalizm is more like Arabian metal IMO.... Love this song....and the choreo...totally awesome. 🤘🦊🤘😁

The best description any of us can come up with for this genre is Middle Eastern psytrance metal. As is often the case with Babymetal, they seem to have invented something entirely new while doing their thing.
I was lucky enough to travel to Japan to be at this performance, and it was absolutely mesmerizing to experience live. The lead guitarist playing the solos for this performance was CJ Masciantonio.

Oh man! The drums rule this one for me. Riding behind the two solos (which are also tasty!) and just driving driving. I'm not a musician or a musical scholar, but the drum beat sounds so simple, but I just can't get enough.
Don't think I've ever listened to this song straight through. I always always go back to those two sections and replay, replay, replay!
Thanks for sharing this one with us, IBeThyBRIDE!

I played Metalizm for a coworker of mine who is from Eygpt because I was curious if he would agree the sound is at least somewhat Egyptian. He did not. He told me he didn't hear anything about it that sounded that way. I was quite surprised by that answer but the music he played that he felt represented his culture didn't sound anything like I would ever imagine is Egyptian music. So idk what that means exactly.
I'm curious, why do you call Su-Metal Sui? 🤣

I was having trouble placing exactly where it sounded like the song was from. With a one take, first reaction it’s not always easy to be right on the nail with these kinds of things! As for Su-Metal, I couldn’t remember the pronunciation or spelling at the time lol
