Moff Gideon: “let’s see how you do against a platoon of dark troopers!”
Luke: *observe*
@Not Another Minute Dude tried to kill himself, lol!
Luke: Hold my blue milk...
That was a bit disappointing. The Dark Troopers being too robotic made them look silly. I'd be more terrified of beskar wearing super battle droids or even Commando droids.
I did like their role in the story and their theme
When Moff realized who it was...that was priceless
@Not Another Minute suicide is badass
The best nod to Luke for me was the subtly in him entering the room, powering off his lightsaber, placing it on his belt, then lifting his hood and calmly bring his hands together. That was so Return of the Jedi walking into Jabba's Palace it hurt.
Nah, there were so many nods to Luke’s character; how even with death bots he disarmed and only killed when they didn’t retreat, how he rarely took the aggressive action but stuck to defense, or when he entered the bridge he moves his lightsaber out of the way so it doesn’t scorch the door. The hall scene that mirrored his fathers in rogue one, such amazing visual story telling.
@@hitandruncommentor knowledge defense never attack unless you have to. Those moments you mention all totally work. But the one I mentioned just did it for me personally the most. It's a completely biased opinion. :-)
@@deomartinez77 your example is better
@@hitandruncommentor @Ki Swore Tbh, I don't really see the "disarmed and only killed when they dont retreat" thing. He absolutely mows through them, and his defense lasts only up until he's close enough to mow some more. I mean, he legit force crushed one bot. That's a Windu move.
Moving the lightsaber out of the way is a nice little touch though.

Remember that the Imperials think Luke killed both Vader and the Emperor, his fear is understandable.
He knew who was coming
What Shak said. As far as Gideon knows, Luke went into a room with Vader and Palpatine and was the only one to walk out. And he blew up the first Death Star. He has to be basically the boogeyman to the Imperials, some kind of impossibly badass superjedi. She's saying "You're not a mando" because she thinks he's just another clone. She wouldn't know about Jango having a clone/son.
True, but regardless, he is in the end another clone. Just a more infamous one anyways, which makes me wonder why not many people recognize him by the armor. I thought the legend of the Fetts would have been more renowned or well-known in the galaxy, or parts that matter, especially to Mandalorians. But what do I know
@@necrowulfx I mean it is a big galaxy. Do you know of any national heroes in the last 20 years? That's how I see it.
It's about what the character knows from their perspective. Bo Katan doesn't know about Boba or Jango's history, she'd have no reason to. She has personal experience with clones so she'd assume he's just a clone like all the others - just like she said.
It seems pretty obvious from the show that Mandalorians don't consider Boba to be a Mandalorian, Din doesn't consider Boba to be a Mandalorian, and that Boba doesn't consider himself to be a Mandalorian, nor does he care even a little bit about Mandalorians, their codes, history, way, planet, or anything else, except for his dads gear.
@@LordBruuh I did watch the clone wars, and I do know he is the only unaltered clone of Jango. But that doesn't change the fact that he is still a clone of Jango. I never said he wasn't a special or extraordinary clone, but do you think that the rest of the galaxy cared whether or not the cloned had personalities??? I get what you are trying to say, but it is irrelevant. Very few people know that Boba Fett is a clone, because most people associate clones with the Republic army. Bo Katan knew Boba was a clone bc they all share the same voice. You really think her or any other person not from the Republic cared about the clones being their own unique persons?
And indeed the X-wing saved them all.

There are a lot of people that love the last Jedi but the decisions that were made in the movie really put Disney in a corner for what the next movie should do and ROS pretty much ruined everything. With each sequel movie, it contradicts its own story along with the story for the first two trilogies.

Personally, a recasting would have put me off. Having Mark Hamill himself there was part of the buzz, and I felt satisfaction that he got to play a great version of Luke one last time. Deepfake is just digital makeup, so there's no reason not to get an actor back if they are still alive and willing. If they can coax Ford back too, then I'm all for that as well!
Ikr, who tf cares? I'm tired of hearing people bash on the CGI luke face. It was a great scene regardless.
I think his face would still need touching up. Based on when this takes place Mark Hamill would look a little bit too old to be Luke at the time peroid it was. They could maybe do what they did for Samuel Jackson in Captain marvel but they'd have to digitally alter him in some way
Week late, but I think they definitely could’ve cast Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier in Captain America) as young Luke. He has a VERY similar face and I think they could’ve pulled that off easily. Hoping they use him as Luke if they bring him back on screen
I think that for our first appearance of a true Luke Skywalker in 30 something years, the CGI was great. But if Luke’s going to have a bigger role in season three, definitely recast.

Dude Luke throwing down on the dark troopers was such a perfect mirror to his father's massacre at the end of Rogue One. Vader went in and slaughtered all those resistance troops as a means to pursue truly evil ends (upsetting the Force by attempting to eradicate any weakness to the Empire's genocidal superweapon), but ultimately failed his mission, whereas his son came in and cut down the enemy in pursuit of defending the Jedi Order and maintaining balance in the Force, achieving his endeavor of securing one of very few remaining Jedi. It was visual, poetic reflection of the duality of father and son, of light and dark, of triumph and defeat.
It’s like poetry, it rhymes
I also like the dichotomy of Luke succeeding in taking what he came for while Vader failed.
Daym, glad i am not the only one who thought of that..
The Vader scene was far superior as it visually looked much better and was a much more powerful moment in the narrative. Luke was just dumped in for fan service with a poor narrative.

This is arguably the most heartfelt and emotionally impactful story in live action Star Wars. As much as I love Star Wars, none of the previous Star Wars movies have touched me emotionally, except for some very few instances. The Mandalorian totally corrects this issue
It was the most heartfelt moment by an absolute landslide. And for my money, Luke's return muffled its impact by shifting the viewer's focus with cheap fanservice.
@@JayfroC what would be the alternative? Some random jedi picking grogu up?
Did u ever watch The Clone Wars? It's better than Mando, I cried in at least 2 episodes. Rebels is not as good, but it's got some episodes that are better than any Mando episode, I cried in some too
Edit: I just realized you said "live action". Oops. But TCW is still awesome :)
One of two: either Grogu stays with Ahsoka (who, in this scenario, would've filled Luke's role in this ep), or he stays with Mando and the writers let that relationship drive the series. When it comes down to it, the only reason Grogu didn't stay wth one Jedi was for him to be picked up by another. Narratively, it felt like padding, especially considering the Mando-Grogu dynamic didn't evolve that much in between.
Ultimately, I think this series should stay as far removed from the mainline movies as possible. Let the new characters actually breathe and walk their own path. I can understand the inclusion of Ahsoka and Fett, since they're relatively minor character in the grand scheme of things, but Luke's inclusion felt way to 'on the nose' for me.
Beautiful Episode!!! This restores my faith in Star Wars, especially if they wipe out 7 8 and 9.
Seeing Luke crush that Droid is totally an Anakin thing for him to do.

“You can’t just give the Saber to her, she must win it in combat”
Sabine: “Hey Bo you want it wrapped neatly with a red bow on top or you just want me to give it to you?”
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah that part kinda sucks
Well she didn’t have to fight with Sabine, she just had to be convinced she was worthy to wield it.
In this however she lost it to Gideon, therefore she has to fight to earn it back. She can’t just take it like she did with Sabine. This time around she actually has to fight for it instead of taking the easy way out. That or let Din be the ruler of Mandalore 🤷🏼♂️

Can't believe it took the Mandalorian, and this finale specifically, to restore hope in Star Wars. One TV show episode did more for SW than three movies put together. I hope the two directors of the films can look at this and realise how wrong they were, how everyone involved with the decision making of those films was wrong.
Trueee. Imagine what star wars would have been if this season finale episode was the new movies.... They are a scar to the fans that will last forever until they openly declare them not cannon

There will be Ashokas show and Boba’s show? And others but I think Mandos story is over.
Bo assumed Boba was just another clone; she didn't realize he was also Jango’s legitimate son. That's why she's upset he’s wearing the armor.
Was looking for someone who said this.
He's still a clone, but didnt go through the rapid aging process that the other clones went through
all the clones are sons of Jango, just Boba is an unaltered clone
It boggles my mind people missed this detail. They literally tell you why she doesn't consider him a Mando and its like people just werent paying attention
Because Boba is just another clone of Jango, he's not really Jango's son

I think they’re gonna bring baby yoda back in some way for season 3. The writers aren’t stupid, they know that father-son bond is the heart of the show and to lose it would be to ruin the show for the fans. I’m just excited to see how he’ll come back, especially after this training with Luke.
Side note: as someone who watched the sequel trilogy before seeing the original trilogy, I didn’t really understand the obsession and awe with Luke Skywalker. Now, after this episode, I’m starting to see it
I feel the same way, I couldn’t catch the interest of Luke. He felt like just basic in terms of character. Boy I was wrong
You should have had enough common sense to watch the original trilogy, prequels, and then the Sequels.
I was actually thinking about something similar when I watched the Luke reveal. A while back, my friend and I were having a discussion about the sequel trilogy, and while I had always grown up idolizing Han Solo, Luke Skywalker was my friend's childhood hero. I always thought Luke was cool enough, but he always just seemed like that no-nonsense boy scout with perfectly parted blond hair, while Han was the funny, charming badass who every girl wanted and every boy wanted to be.
But while I was watching this Luke reveal scene, I was like, "Wait. If I'm this excited about the slightest possibility of Luke Skywalker showing up, then I think I finally started to understand why my friend liked him so much."
It's nice to see Jeremy smile when talking about star wars.

yeah his face is similiare
@Jorus C'baoth what does Luke think of mandos does he like them or not I couldn't tell.
@Jorus C'baoth ah yes of course obi wan told luke his entire sex life on the way to alderaan
Why they didn't just recast him is beyond me. I think whatever Sebastian Stan is taking for a TV show role these days is less than spending on CGI faces. And sadly because of that we know now they won't be bringing back Luke that much in the future...

Saw the X-wing, nah can’t be. Saw the hilt and glove, OMG IT IS!!!! Jaw on my chest the entire time. I’m 40 years old, but I was screaming at the t.v like I was 8.
"I'm not gonna give in to that kind of hope"
pretty ironic as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia were truly the main themes of "Hope" in star wars
2 things:
1) I loved how Luke’s fight with the rows of Dark Troopers leading up to the blast doors mirrored Darth Vader’s attack on the Rebels seen at the end of Rogue One.
And 2) The ONLY thing I am actually upset about this episode, was that Din Djarin didn’t give Grogu the gearshift knob from the Razor Crest 😢
I also expected him to give him the gear shift knob. I was a little sad he didn’t.
I think that if we see Din in the next season (which I desperately hope we will) it’s going to be a way for Din to keep the memory of Grogu with him. If he has his helmet on, it would be difficult to communicate Mando missing him except through that visual and the music.
I honestly cried for Din and Grogu, not about Luke. It just breaks my heart to see that they were separated, even though it was sort of inevitable
Thus Grogu's path to the dark side begins! Hahah.
