Idk about that, not many Star Wars fans like this show. I understand to some extent, on this episode specifically you can see 3 different shades of makeup on some of the actors (when Luke shows up and they're looking at the door), or maybe it was the lighting. I am not exactly sure but that's just what I see.

Absolutely! I was clapping and yelling "THIS IS LUKE SKYWALKER I CAN GET BEHIND!" But, lost it when I saw R2. I wasn't quite one yet when my parents took me to see A New Hope and my mom told me I saw R2 smiled and then fell asleep. When I saw him I heard her voice saying "there's R2!" Like she always said any time we saw him. So, she was with me when he came around the corner... "There R2!"🥺💜
The lesson is multi-level defenses, Lock down the landing bay, vent the atmo so luke has to walk into hard vaccuum, pull back your storm troopers to command, arm them with granades and RPGs, proximity mines in the hallways to turn intruders into paste, turn up the artificial gravity in the halls to 100 G, so they can't even get up off the floor as their internal organs ooze out their body openings, and last resort, complete ship self destruct, can't allow it to fall into enemy hands... Space ship reactor packs a lot of punch. Tech always wins, if you use it right.
Every once in a while I come back to this video just for the feels. Besides the SUPERB editing, the relatable reactions creates that human connection. Plus, this episode was so perfect for the Star Wars fan that is familiar with it all. It was a true gift. And I'll always give the show, The Mandalorian credit for helping whoever watched it get through all the chaos and sadness during that year for the world.
We all are. My parents taught me Star Wars when the prequels came out in 1999 but they didn't send his daughters to see it on screen. The first one I saw in cinema with my father for his 50th birthday present was Rogue One. And I was hooked. Parenting done right.

This is why Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are calling the shots now. That ending with Boba taking over the palace was really those two taking over Star Wars lol.
This is the power of a well-handled franchise. The sequels will never be able to do what was done with this one last portion of an episode. The Luke we all knew and wanted, the reunion we all craved, and the respect paid to the universe that so many of us have grown to love. Even adults were brought to tears by that final scene.
The end of Return of the Jedi, a father asks his son to remove his helmet, so he can look on him with his own eyes at least once. The end of The Rescue, a son asks his father to remove his helmet, so he can see his true face at least once. Luke is there for both.... this really feels like a passing the torch moment for me. Fucking incredible.
Think that's part of the beauty. He doesn't. He loves making good stories, same as Filoni. Price isn't the object. This (waves hands to fan reaction) is.
Favreau has exactly the right mix of practical and special effects as well. He uses both masterfully to really immerse you in this fictional world. But even then, he also doesn't forget to make the story character driven. Then team him up with Dave Filoni, George Lucas' Padawan, his apprentice, the one he has really passed on his ideas to, and who has left his mark on Star Wars already via The Clone Wars and Rebels. And then you get this, absolute magic.
It's very telling that everyone watching says "no, it can't be luke, no way" etc.. we're so used to being upset by new star wars that we didn't believe that anything good could happen anymore.
More like give it to people who actually care Star Wars in the first place. They tried giving a trilogy to Johnson despite his open antagonism towards the series. They gave Abrams a chance after he ended Lost the way he did and bastardized Star Trek. Now they're giving KOTOR's story to someone who actively fights fans on twitter and has gone on record saying KOTOR isn't her favorite SW game.
Its been a little over two years and watching the reaction video AND the episode continues to bring me to tears. this has got to be the most emotional scene or episode in star wars history. Not to mention the fact that at the very beginning people were skeptical about the series and how it was going to flop. Just the mere presence of Luke Skywalker saved the entire show and the franchise.
They had to keep it a secret from their own "colleagues" at Lucasfilm because Kathleen Kennedy's people didn't want Luke coming back. Imagine that. The official caretakers of the Star Wars franchise are so hostile towards both the IP and the fan base that they were angry about this awesome reunion with our most beloved character. Is it any wonder the sequel trilogy was such a disaster? Dave and Dave should have taken over years ago. Hopefully they are given their chance to rescue Star Wars.
I lost my sh!t when Luke showed up. He is hands down one of the most iconic characters in Star Wars and I couldn’t even believe that they put him in the show. That whole scene was a sight to remember. 😁😁😁💚💚💚

@Rafi Rizqullah - I love both The Clone Wars and Rebels. Rebels for all the Jedi temple and Force being stuff and Clone Wars for Anakin, Rex, Ahsoka, Padme, Obi-wan, R2. I'm so attached to all those characters. That last Siege of Mandalore arc where the clones turn on Ahsoka is brutal. Such a dark ending. Rebels has a much happier ending. But my favorite episode out of all of them is the World Between Worlds episode. That place is SO COOL. That Lothal Jedi Temple is amazing. My favorite story arc in TCW was actually the Mortis Arc so it makes sense that I would love the last few episodes of Rebel. Absolutely fantastic stuff.
@@s1d3k1ckRO - After watching Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith is so BRUTAL. I made the mistake of watching it while I was pregnant and when Anakin force chokes Padme, I fucking lost it. It's so painful to watch. Every time I see Darth Vader I cry because I think of Anakin. I highly recommend the second Thrawn trilogy books where Timothy Zahm rewrites Thrawn's story due to his inclusion in Rebels. The interaction between Vader and Thrawn goes into a lot of how Vader thinks of Anakin and REALLY insightful. Timothy Zahn is a master at storytelling.
I just want to say this: Watching Luke actually BEING a Jedi for once made this nerd happy thru and thru. He wielded the lightsaber like a Jedi Master would. He incorporated the Force during the fight like a Jedi Master would. He was calm, neither angry or excited, at the end of the fight like a Jedi Master would. They NAILED this. Nailed it.
I thought the point of being a Jedi was to incorporate Olympic-class floor routines and tai kwon do moves with ample lightsaber twirling. It's been a minute since the OG universe...

This entire show has felt like a love letter from Favreau and Filoni to us...the long time fans, the dedicated fans. Here's to hoping they write a few dozen more.
Filoni only has the same writing credits on this show as Rick Famuyiwa, ie two episodes. Filoni's season 1 episode was by far the lowest rated of the season. His season 2 episode was purely to shoehorn in Ahsoka to set up her spin off series (it resulted in her looking indifferent to Grogu's plight as well). Lucasfilm wanted Grogu to be Ahsoka's padawan, for her series. But Favreau refused, saying it would effectively destroy the relationship between Djarin & Grogu (the heart of this show). Basically, Faverau is the mastermind behind this series. Read his Jan 2021 interview with the Writer's Guild of America, where he mentions repeatedly that he wrote this show alone. Filoni was invited on board for his SW knowledge, not his writing, which isn't all that.
This is proof that Jon and Dave need to be put in charge of all future Star Wars projects. They know what the fans want because they themselves are fans. They respect George Lucas and they even ask for his input on stuff.

When future historians write the story of 2020 it will not be how covid nearly ripped us a new one but Luke Skywalker retuning to give us all hope for all the tomorrow’s to come.
Well loved TFA, severely disliked TLJ, and enjoyed TROS. That said, have thoroughly enjoyed The Mandalorian although it's not without it's growing pains. The appeal of SWs to me is the fantasy side of it, and with that the most interesting aspect of the SWs universe to me is The Force. This is the reason for my feelings on the movies and show. For TFA I thought it did a great job of using a familiar story and characters to setup a new story about what the force is. Why did it awaken? What does that mean? Why are some more adept at it (Rey)? Why are others force aware (Maz and Chirrut in Roque One)? Why was Luke so powerful with it? Just how powerful was Luke with it? All of those questions had great appeal and could have been answered with a proper follow up to TFA and diverge drastically from the OT. Instead, we got Rain Johnson's TLJ which destroyed maybe the most beloved SWs character ever (seeing the reaction to this final episode reaffirms that). Rather than growing Luke's character based on his experiences, it was used to make us not like him so that he is forgotten. I personally think this is what Abrams had in mind with the first one, and tried to correct all of this in TROS. The plotholes in that movie should have been filled by the story told in TLJ. And it could have even been the same tone. Luke coming to realize he had gotten in over his head. The Jedi's hubris. Maybe realizing they were wrong, and that one can't really shut out the dark or light side of the force, that bringing balance to the force really means learning to embrace both sides, all setup by the literal title of TFA. We still don't know that actually means. All of that, to say that The Mandalorian is getting back to that. The mystery of the Jedi, their powers, what does it all mean and how does it work. And to tell that story we have some great characters moving along in their journey as these answers unravel. Me personally, I'd love to see Grogu turn out to be The Chosen One. The species long lifespan could well be used as a character point that it takes a long time to master walking the thin line between light and dark. We saw how powerful Yoda was, and he is the only Jedi where it could be believable that he could wield the darkside and not fall to temptation. By the time Ben turned on Luke (or Luke turned on Ben if you want to see it that way), Grogu had grown aware enough that he didn't think suppressing the dark-side was the right path and left Luke's school. The movies going forward with Grogu explaining this and getting a force ghost Luke, Yoda, and Obi-wan to understand that and have them then further assist in his training I think would make for a great story.
People who didn't grow up on Star Wars have no idea what Luke was to so many nerds back in the day. He was our hero. Our role model. He was who we wanted to be. I don't blame a single person in this for breaking out into tears.
I'm a 41 year old husband and father....but not this day. This day, I was just a boy doing everything he could to hold his shit together (unsuccessfully). What an incredible show, spectacular episode and brain melting scene.

That's actually a load of rubbish I've watched the director himself say he let as little of the cast as possible know to stop the leaks as every cameo had been leaked before the "mark hamill" one, so...the cast knew for scripting reasons, he was on set while they shot the scenes aswell even though they used a CGI... It was kept a secret for a year that he was in the show, it was filmed little over a year before the episodes release without any leaks though, impressive

What really did this for me was the way they portrayed Luke. Many of us haven't seen that Luke since we were kids years ago. It instantly put me back in time and I lived it for the entire scene.
Me! Right here, this guy. Even if they sink the whole series and everything else, I will still watch Mandalorian S1-S2 with my kids. That, at least, was worth it. ^_^

I still can't believe there was a very small portion of the fandom that was upset that it was Luke and not someone like Ezra. Not to insult any other characters that it could have been instead of Luke, there is no way that this moment could ever have been as special, if it had been another Jedi. Well perhaps Mace Windu showing up and not being dead, would have gotten a very good reaction but then some of the fandom might immediately start thinking 'Where the hell were you during Episodes 4 to 6?' and that distracts from the impact of scene.
Anyone who wasn't there in '77 can just never appreciate "Star Wars, a New Hope" the way those of us who were there can. You had pre-cable TV, maybe got 7-8 stations, or you went to the movies. No VHS, DVD, HBO, Netflix, etc. And nobody, but NOBODY had ever made a film like Star Wars before. The size. The scale. The imagination of it. I remember sitting in the theater (fortunately, one with an enormous screen). The lights dim, the music starts, and against a glorious space backdrop, "STAR WARS" explodes onto the screen; the intro crawls away, and we pan down to see a beautiful planet below us. Suddenly, from just behind us, laser bolts, followed by a spaceship, fly over our heads, toward the planet. And then, the theater rumbles, and the nose of a huuuuuge spaceship flys in so low, we all gasp and duck. And there is just ... more, and ... more, and ... more, like it will never stop, even as the two ships are trading laser-fire. And in that moment, we all realize that for the next two hours, this is going to be pure, cinematic, magic. ... And it was. .

I’ll never forget that moment when Leia’s ship appeared on the screen being chased and fired at by the Imperial Cruiser. I looked up over my shoulder to see where the hell that huge ship was coming from. I wasn’t the only one. I remember a guy to my right doing the same thing! We both looked at each other like “Wth?!” It sounds silly now but we’d never seen anything like that before.
Mark Hamill is one of the few actors that has ever taken serious ownership of the character he portrayed. Being Luke Skywalker was not a job to him; he genuinely connected with that sense of optimism and wonder, so when he was able to redeem that from the travesty sequel trilogy, you could see how happy it made him. He got to bring that optimism back to people.
He really excels at walking the tightrope between appreciating his fans and keeping a private life, while ensuring everyone is kept happy. A true master in many ways

My dad’s 66 and the only time I’ve seen him cry in my entire life was when we watched this episode together. He was massively disappointed by the sequel trilogy, which he didn’t even believe he’d live to see in the first place, so he was very skeptical when I suggested we watch The Mandalorian. He was instantly hooked, but he had no idea when this series took place within the Star Wars timeline. He simply assumed all this happened after the movies. So when he saw a young Luke Skywalker, the hero of his own youth, but now as an all-powerful Jedi… my father has always been a very stoic man, but this time there was no way he could contain his happiness. 😊
Because we from the original generation knew what we experienced. We knew what it meant for our imaginations. It let us fly high in our minds. We had no shame about our feelings for it. It was a revolution on film and FOR film. Nothing we had ever seen. So, to connect back to those same feelings those many decades ago is monumental. Because that's a hard thing to do with anything after. I'm glad your father enjoyed it. I did as well. And like many, I'll never forget then AND now.
love that story, having grown up with the originals I didn't like what they did to luke in the sequals, and Jon and Dave brought back the one we knew and loved.
As a kid I was standing in line to see the original trilogy some 40 years ago in cinemas. I was overwhelmed by emotions watching the epic story. My heart was beating fast when the first Death Star exploded. I was shocked in horror and disbelief when Vader told Luke that he was his father. I raised to my feet and gave a standing ovation when Vader turned against the Emperor. And now in 2021, as a middle aged man - some might say old - I watch this show and feel all those feelings again, for the first time in ages. This show is epic. This show is unforgettable. This is Star Wars.
Got the same feelings. And I watched the Special Edition in theaters as a kid. Original edition VHS when I was less than 6, Special Edition at 10 and the prequels at 12-18. The only bad moment I had was when they translated the opening crawl in the Phantom Menace.
This is what the vast majority of fans wanted to see when Luke appeared in the Force Awakens -- not a bitter, broken down old man who threw his iconic lightsaber away like trash and wandered off to go drink green alien sea cow milk.
My 13 year-old daughter said “dad, I’ve never seen you cry before...ever”. I said, “I’m not crying, you’re crying.” Watching this makes me feel better about crying about it. Genius show running. Genius.

@@johndododoe1411 To my knowledge it was a stunt double during the lightsaber sequence and it was him during the talking sequence at the end. They just CGI’d his face and tampered with his voice to make him sound like his younger self. CGI could use some work but it was overall well done in my opinion.

Honestly, the Mandalorian stopped the franchise from falling into dark irrelevance, like Game of Thrones. The show was arguably a masterpiece with little to no flaws.

I’m a 73 year old retired librarian and I wept like a toddler. Watched the episode all alone and kept saying to my dog, “It’s Luke. It’s Luke. Oh god it’s Luke.” What an utterly glorious moment.
Luke Skywalker is probably the most powerful Jedi at this time. But Yoda to me is the definitive Jedi. Complete knowledge of the force, very balanced and very wise. Luke would turn to Yoda for his wisdom until the end.
You don't have to be a nerd to like Star Wars. Everyone forgets that the original went super viral. They even used a quote in a session of Congress. EVERYONE loved the originals. It says a lot how the later movies didn't stand up with the same kind of interest despite having the ability to go anyway they wanted.

And I revisit this reaction compilation occasionally, and other like it, just to feel like the little awestruck kid I was when I watched a double feature of "A New Hope" and "Empire Strikes Back" way back in the antiquity. Jon Favreu is one of the best , if not the best, and more versatile showrunner of this generation. He did friends (as actor), iron man (both director and actor), disney's adaptation of mogli , lion king etc, and many more. Everyone with audience aclamation.

I had a feeling that it was going to be Luke to hear Grogu's request at the Tython rocks but had no idea how they were going to connect them. This ending was done perfectly. I still come back and re-watch this episode on the regular. We never got to see Luke at the height of his abilities until this scene.

Every time I watch this episode I cry. Every time. Can't handle it. I'm 43 and a fan of SW. Never have I shed a tear before for any SW thing. But this...oh this is way fckn off the SW emotional charts! This show has saved SW over anything that came after the first trilogy. I fckn dare you to change my mind!!
This is why being a "nerd" about something, anything, is what it means to be human. To have something you love, that brings you utter joy. That stops time for an hour. That makes you forget about sadness, death, or any issues or problems in life. Even if just for a short time.
I just realized this: When Din takes his helmet off, it TOTALLY reflects the end of ROTJ when Anakin looked upon Luke without his helmet. When Luke sees that, he’s definitely being reminded of that moment.
I never thought of that. Recently watched this episode but I already knew about Luke’s appearance. He was totally bada** when fighting the Dark Troopers!
J. Favreau has proven himself to be the ultimate creator behind the camera for nerdy content. Iron Man, The Mandalorian... he takes the geek culture of my childhood and transforms it into cinematic magic. Nobody has captured the look and feel, the drama and the cool factor so perfectly.

Idk about that, not many Star Wars fans like this show. I understand to some extent, on this episode specifically you can see 3 different shades of makeup on some of the actors (when Luke shows up and they're looking at the door), or maybe it was the lighting. I am not exactly sure but that's just what I see.

The lesson is multi-level defenses, Lock down the landing bay, vent the atmo so luke has to walk into hard vaccuum, pull back your storm troopers to command, arm them with granades and RPGs, proximity mines in the hallways to turn intruders into paste, turn up the artificial gravity in the halls to 100 G, so they can't even get up off the floor as their internal organs ooze out their body openings, and last resort, complete ship self destruct, can't allow it to fall into enemy hands... Space ship reactor packs a lot of punch. Tech always wins, if you use it right.
Every once in a while I come back to this video just for the feels. Besides the SUPERB editing, the relatable reactions creates that human connection. Plus, this episode was so perfect for the Star Wars fan that is familiar with it all. It was a true gift. And I'll always give the show, The Mandalorian credit for helping whoever watched it get through all the chaos and sadness during that year for the world.

This is the power of a well-handled franchise. The sequels will never be able to do what was done with this one last portion of an episode. The Luke we all knew and wanted, the reunion we all craved, and the respect paid to the universe that so many of us have grown to love. Even adults were brought to tears by that final scene.

Jon Favreau helped kick start the MCU then saves Star Wars. The guy should be able to name his price going forward
Think that's part of the beauty. He doesn't. He loves making good stories, same as Filoni. Price isn't the object. This (waves hands to fan reaction) is.
Favreau has exactly the right mix of practical and special effects as well. He uses both masterfully to really immerse you in this fictional world. But even then, he also doesn't forget to make the story character driven.
Then team him up with Dave Filoni, George Lucas' Padawan, his apprentice, the one he has really passed on his ideas to, and who has left his mark on Star Wars already via The Clone Wars and Rebels. And then you get this, absolute magic.
The best part is he will be worth every penny

It's very telling that everyone watching says "no, it can't be luke, no way" etc.. we're so used to being upset by new star wars that we didn't believe that anything good could happen anymore.
More like give it to people who actually care Star Wars in the first place. They tried giving a trilogy to Johnson despite his open antagonism towards the series. They gave Abrams a chance after he ended Lost the way he did and bastardized Star Trek. Its been a little over two years and watching the reaction video AND the episode continues to bring me to tears. this has got to be the most emotional scene or episode in star wars history. Not to mention the fact that at the very beginning people were skeptical about the series and how it was going to flop. Just the mere presence of Luke Skywalker saved the entire show and the franchise.

@Rafi Rizqullah - I love both The Clone Wars and Rebels. Rebels for all the Jedi temple and Force being stuff and Clone Wars for Anakin, Rex, Ahsoka, Padme, Obi-wan, R2. I'm so attached to all those characters. That last Siege of Mandalore arc where the clones turn on Ahsoka is brutal. Such a dark ending. Rebels has a much happier ending. But my favorite episode out of all of them is the World Between Worlds episode. That place is SO COOL. That Lothal Jedi Temple is amazing. My favorite story arc in TCW was actually the Mortis Arc so it makes sense that I would love the last few episodes of Rebel. Absolutely fantastic stuff.
@@s1d3k1ckRO - After watching Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith is so BRUTAL. I made the mistake of watching it while I was pregnant and when Anakin force chokes Padme, I fucking lost it. It's so painful to watch. Every time I see Darth Vader I cry because I think of Anakin. I highly recommend the second Thrawn trilogy books where Timothy Zahm rewrites Thrawn's story due to his inclusion in Rebels. The interaction between Vader and Thrawn goes into a lot of how Vader thinks of Anakin and REALLY insightful. Timothy Zahn is a master at storytelling.

Watching Luke actually BEING a Jedi for once made this nerd happy thru and thru. He wielded the lightsaber like a Jedi Master would. He incorporated the Force during the fight like a Jedi Master would. He was calm, neither angry or excited, at the end of the fight like a Jedi Master would.

This entire show has felt like a love letter from Favreau and Filoni to us...the long time fans, the dedicated fans. Here's to hoping they write a few dozen more.
Filoni only has the same writing credits on this show as Rick Famuyiwa, ie two episodes.
Filoni's season 1 episode was by far the lowest rated of the season. His season 2 episode was purely to shoehorn in Ahsoka to set up her spin off series (it resulted in her looking indifferent to Grogu's plight as well).
Lucasfilm wanted Grogu to be Ahsoka's padawan, for her series. But Favreau refused, saying it would effectively destroy the relationship between Djarin & Grogu (the heart of this show).
Basically, Faverau is the mastermind behind this series. Read his Jan 2021 interview with the Writer's Guild of America, where he mentions repeatedly that he wrote this show alone.
Filoni was invited on board for his SW knowledge, not his writing, which isn't all that.

Well loved TFA, severely disliked TLJ, and enjoyed TROS. That said, have thoroughly enjoyed The Mandalorian although it's not without it's growing pains.
The appeal of SWs to me is the fantasy side of it, and with that the most interesting aspect of the SWs universe to me is The Force. This is the reason for my feelings on the movies and show. For TFA I thought it did a great job of using a familiar story and characters to setup a new story about what the force is. Why did it awaken? What does that mean? Why are some more adept at it (Rey)? Why are others force aware (Maz and Chirrut in Roque One)? Why was Luke so powerful with it? Just how powerful was Luke with it?
All of those questions had great appeal and could have been answered with a proper follow up to TFA and diverge drastically from the OT. Instead, we got Rain Johnson's TLJ which destroyed maybe the most beloved SWs character ever (seeing the reaction to this final episode reaffirms that). Rather than growing Luke's character based on his experiences, it was used to make us not like him so that he is forgotten. I personally think this is what Abrams had in mind with the first one, and tried to correct all of this in TROS. The plotholes in that movie should have been filled by the story told in TLJ. And it could have even been the same tone. Luke coming to realize he had gotten in over his head. The Jedi's hubris. Maybe realizing they were wrong, and that one can't really shut out the dark or light side of the force, that bringing balance to the force really means learning to embrace both sides, all setup by the literal title of TFA. We still don't know that actually means.
All of that, to say that The Mandalorian is getting back to that. The mystery of the Jedi, their powers, what does it all mean and how does it work. And to tell that story we have some great characters moving along in their journey as these answers unravel. Me personally, I'd love to see Grogu turn out to be The Chosen One. The species long lifespan could well be used as a character point that it takes a long time to master walking the thin line between light and dark. We saw how powerful Yoda was, and he is the only Jedi where it could be believable that he could wield the darkside and not fall to temptation. By the time Ben turned on Luke (or Luke turned on Ben if you want to see it that way), Grogu had grown aware enough that he didn't think suppressing the dark-side was the right path and left Luke's school. The movies going forward with Grogu explaining this and getting a force ghost Luke, Yoda, and Obi-wan to understand that and have them then further assist in his training I think would make for a great story.
People who didn't grow up on Star Wars have no idea what Luke was to so many nerds back in the day. He was our hero. Our role model. He was who we wanted to be.
I don't blame a single person in this for breaking out into tears.
I hope Mark Hamill will see, how much his fans love him, for bringing Luke to life!

That's actually a load of rubbish I've watched the director himself say he let as little of the cast as possible know to stop the leaks as every cameo had been leaked before the "mark hamill" one, so...the cast knew for scripting reasons, he was on set while they shot the scenes aswell even though they used a CGI... It was kept a secret for a year that he was in the show, it was filmed little over a year before the episodes release without any leaks though, impressive

What really did this for me was the way they portrayed Luke. Many of us haven't seen that Luke since we were kids years ago. It instantly put me back in time and I lived it for the entire scene.

Sequel movies were in my opinion, dog shit. However, there are much more fans of the OT and prequels mocking the sequels than sequel fans mocking the prequels. Even if it did, it still wouldn't matter, two wrongs don't make a right.

I still can't believe there was a very small portion of the fandom that was upset that it was Luke and not someone like Ezra.
Not to insult any other characters that it could have been instead of Luke, there is no way that this moment could ever have been as special, if it had been another Jedi.
Well perhaps Mace Windu showing up and not being dead, would have gotten a very good reaction but then some of the fandom might immediately start thinking 'Where the hell were you during Episodes 4 to 6?' and that distracts from the impact of scene.
Anyone who wasn't there in '77 can just never appreciate "Star Wars, a New Hope" the way those of us who were there can. You had pre-cable TV, maybe got 7-8 stations, or you went to the movies. No VHS, DVD, HBO, Netflix, etc. And nobody, but NOBODY had ever made a film like Star Wars before. The size. The scale. The imagination of it. I remember sitting in the theater (fortunately, one with an enormous screen). The lights dim, the music starts, and against a glorious space backdrop, "STAR WARS" explodes onto the screen; the intro crawls away, and we pan down to see a beautiful planet below us. Suddenly, from just behind us, laser bolts, followed by a spaceship, fly over our heads, toward the planet. And then, the theater rumbles, and the nose of a huuuuuge spaceship flys in so low, we all gasp and duck. And there is just ... more, and ... more, and ... more, like it will never stop, even as the two ships are trading laser-fire. And in that moment, we all realize that for the next two hours, this is going to be pure, cinematic, magic. ... And it was.

I’ll never forget that moment when Leia’s ship appeared on the screen being chased and fired at by the Imperial Cruiser. I looked up over my shoulder to see where the hell that huge ship was coming from. I wasn’t the only one. I remember a guy to my right doing the same thing! We both looked at each other like “Wth?!” It sounds silly now but we’d never seen anything like that before.

Like a baby I wept.
Mark Hamill is one of the few actors that has ever taken serious ownership of the character he portrayed. Being Luke Skywalker was not a job to him; he genuinely connected with that sense of optimism and wonder, so when he was able to redeem that from the travesty sequel trilogy, you could see how happy it made him. He got to bring that optimism back to people.

My dad’s 66 and the only time I’ve seen him cry in my entire life was when we watched this episode together. He was massively disappointed by the sequel trilogy, which he didn’t even believe he’d live to see in the first place, so he was very skeptical when I suggested we watch The Mandalorian. He was instantly hooked, but he had no idea when this series took place within the Star Wars timeline. He simply assumed all this happened after the movies. So when he saw a young Luke Skywalker, the hero of his own youth, but now as an all-powerful Jedi… my father has always been a very stoic man, but this time there was no way he could contain his happiness. 😊
Because we from the original generation knew what we experienced. We knew what it meant for our imaginations. It let us fly high in our minds. We had no shame about our feelings for it. It was a revolution on film and FOR film. Nothing we had ever seen. So, to connect back to those same feelings those many decades ago is monumental. Because that's a hard thing to do with anything after. I'm glad your father enjoyed it. I did as well. And like many, I'll never forget then AND now.

As a kid I was standing in line to see the original trilogy some 40 years ago in cinemas. I was overwhelmed by emotions watching the epic story. My heart was beating fast when the first Death Star exploded. I was shocked in horror and disbelief when Vader told Luke that he was his father. I raised to my feet and gave a standing ovation when Vader turned against the Emperor. And now in 2021, as a middle aged man - some might say old - I watch this show and feel all those feelings again, for the first time in ages. This show is epic. This show is unforgettable. This is Star Wars.

Original edition VHS when I was less than 6, Special Edition at 10 and the prequels at 12-18. The only bad moment I had was when they translated the opening crawl in the Phantom Menace.

@@johndododoe1411 To my knowledge it was a stunt double during the lightsaber sequence and it was him during the talking sequence at the end. They just CGI’d his face and tampered with his voice to make him sound like his younger self. CGI could use some work but it was overall well done in my opinion.

I’m a 73 year old retired librarian and I wept like a toddler. Watched the episode all alone and kept saying to my dog, “It’s Luke. It’s Luke. Oh god it’s Luke.” What an utterly glorious moment.

You don't have to be a nerd to like Star Wars. Everyone forgets that the original went super viral. They even used a quote in a session of Congress. EVERYONE loved the originals. Jon Favreu is one of the best , if not the best, and more versatile showrunner of this generation. He did friends (as actor), iron man (both director and actor), disney's adaptation of mogli , lion king etc, and many more. Everyone with audience aclamation.

I had a feeling that it was going to be Luke to hear Grogu's request at the Tython rocks but had no idea how they were going to connect them. This ending was done perfectly. I still come back and re-watch this episode on the regular. We never got to see Luke at the height of his abilities until this scene.

49 and the tears fell. I'll admit, it was quite the emotional ride. As a HUGE Luke Skywalker fan since childhood, this is our Luke Skywalker.
This is why being a "nerd" about something, anything, is what it means to be human. To have something you love, that brings you utter joy. That stops time for an hour. That makes you forget about sadness, death, or any issues or problems in life. Even if just for a short time.

I just realized this: When Din takes his helmet off, it TOTALLY reflects the end of ROTJ when Anakin looked upon Luke without his helmet. When Luke sees that, he’s definitely being reminded of that moment.

(Edit, he is the writer that's what we call a double pog moment) I think it's because he actually understands storytelling, cares about the fictional worlds, and gives the power to the directors/most passionate writers, instead of trying to force them all to hit certain beats for no reason like a lot of producers/directors/investors do.

Until this one, I had no interest in reaction videos. But I was alone, I sobbed so hard, and I needed this, the sharing of emotions with all of the lovely reactors. And since, I've watched everything you make that I have watched, cause I love the lore bits that this stupid brain forgot (I'd make an awful reactor - so much pausing and googling...), and it's adding to my enjoyment of the shows.
