  • Take a guided tour through the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum with its curator Jason Vansickle and RACER's Marshall Pruett.
RACER's IndyCar Trackside Report is presented by ‪@SkipBarberRacing‬. With multiple locations in the US, Skip Barber Racing School has developed more winning racers than any other school. Their alumni have taken the podium in all facets of motorsports including NASCAR, INDYCAR, SCCA, World Challenge and IMSA. In fact, more than 1/3rd of the starting lineup in the 2022 Indy 500 were Skip Barber graduates. Click to learn more: bit.ly/SBRS-TSR8

It doesn’t matter if you are an IndyCar or Nascar fan or any type of motorsports fan this is an absolute must see. Even if you are not going to the race and are just passing through Indianapolis the museum is great just to visit the track and the museum, it’s very easy to get in and out of. If you have a travel trailer or a Big Rig just park across the street…you have to visit this , thanks for the video Marshall

Fabulous! I vividly remember my Grandfather taking me to the original museum outside turn one. What a thrill and this relaxed, conversational style of this presentation perfectly serves and respects the displays. Well Done.

My earliest recollections of IMS include the original museum.
      I remember it all ...
Ashamed it's gone ... the exterior styling was phenomenal!
      Left to right across the entire front of the mid century modern low rise;
THE CAPITAL OF AUTO RACING on the left, then across the right,
      THE INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Checkered flag vertical element at the center entrance.
The Speedway Motel was also cool, with a coffee shop/restaurant.
Right across the street from the 16th street main entrance, was another similarly styled motel.

I remember rooting for that Eagle and iconic driver from the inside of turn three which was my first Indy 500. A special car.

Marshall, it makes me so happy to hear that Jimmy Murphy's car is your favorite! It's mine too. It is just sat there kind of unassuming between some of the other early winners, but it is the Secretariat of race cars.

I can't believe Marshal didn't mention that the LED panels have been memorialized in the museum with Rossi's car 😂

15:27 I know that's not Pierre Gasly who just walked up, right? Surely he was in Monaco and not kicking it at IMS the day before qualifying at the grand prix... right?

Would like to know if those beautiful cars ever get started and driven. Would love to see that Players Reynard do some flying laps

Not a biggie, but prior to the 2021 500 taking the record for the fastest 500, the record was held by the 2013 race, not 2014

Nice water stains on the celling.....not trying to be an ass....my eyes just went straight to it.

I agree, kind of diminishes the greatness of the cars.

I've cringed looking up at it for years.
The whole thing ... those acoustical tiles are cheapest, and yeah show stains so well.
I can see the reluctance to address any of it, ... as it's a handful with all the angles, etc.
The natural light is wonderful ... but they cheapened out.
I'm guessing a proper hard ceiling the architect originally wanted was value engineered out.
I've attended countless events there ... cocktail parties, many "An Evening With" events.
Some of the ceiling areas are nice ... but that ratty tiles and t-bar suspended ceilings only get worse.

IMS has an outstanding collections of cars on display, but the building is dated, boring, and in desperate need of remodeling.

The audio is making me dizzy, why do you have hard panning for the different mics??
