This is true Davey boy!! I just got myself out of debt. I refuse to struggle and go through depression again. I did a lot of dumb things with my credit and money in my 20's. Once i hit my 30's everything i did in the past caught up with me. I'm 33 now i will never put myself through that again. It feels good to be debt free.

He is on point. I was just spinning my wheels for years and then one day I was like, "I'm done and getting this debt out of my life". 6 month later I paid off all my credit cards and now working on my student loans. Time to take them out too.
This guy sounds like he has never had a father figure in his life to help guide him. Glad he called Dave. Dave is about as good of a role model as you can get. Good call. 👍🏻
Or a dad he knew very little about finances as in indebtedness. I see him with the car and other debts including child care but the loans, etc came EXTREMELY Behind the necessities and childcare. Who can blame him even though he needs to pay those too.

I can tell you first hand as a guy who only makes 23k if my debt was 46k instead of 22k life would be way worse, much easier breathing now I can see the end date in sight.
The debt sounds manageable without bankruptcy. It would be different if his debt was like 3x or more of his income then maybe that would make sense but it's all goes back to discipline and making a plan.

I have a relative who is going through chapter 13 bankruptcy. I've tried counseling him, and he always acts like he's listening, but he goes off and does things in secret - most likely embarrassed. I only found out that he was going through chapter 13 from another relative. His car was totaled a couple months ago, and I urged him to use his savings and insurance money to buy a good used car for around $5-7K. Him: "I need a reliable car so I don't miss work"...FINANCED a 2018 Nissan Altima at a really high interest rate. "I have a plan, and I'm going to pay this car off quickly." Me: Smh.
You don't really need school for this as there's not much to learn. It should be common sense; all you need is a pencil, a piece of paper, and a mirror (to see who's been doing stupid things).
Thus, do not put in your environment things that do not align with your actions. And organize your living and working space so that you do exactly one thing that you are supposed to do at that particular place. As simple as that.
I’ve paid off 8k in six weeks so far and I’m probably 80% gazelle intense. I can’t work non stop because I’m a nurse and the cap is at ten shifts per pay period
Debt is a symptom of being a lifelong consumer. Instead of thinking of consumption, think of how you can Produce and make the money work for you instead of only getting deeper into the rabbit hole of debt. If you have any cash laying around, invest it at 7-13 percent average annual return and have money work for you instead of trading your time for an income.
He can't work two jobs!! Yes, you missed that he "Just got custody of a 10 year old" - What's he supposed to do? leave her with the girlfriend? Kids at that age need 'face time' with their parent especially since her world was just upended! Take her with him to the FPU classes - let her help do budgets -- show her her opinion is valued (there is a reason he got custody) - great teaching moments! But do not leave her with a girlfriend - take a little extra time to pay off that debt - She needs her dad to 'be' with her -- kids don't want your money, they want your time. A statement my son made to me after he was grown - "Mom, we never had a lot of extra money, but you always had time for me" ... Kids do not get 'Do Overs" in life growing up.
Its just a year of hard grueling work is the kid gonna regret or unlove him for being debt free. I doubt it kids are gonna respect him even more whn he say bby i took two.weeks off work lets go to Disneyland all paid for with cash come on u crybaby
" I just got custody of my daughter", who had her before? The mother, the State, foster care, RAP(relative as parent)…. Why didn't he have custody? Has he ever had custody? She may not even Know him or of him. Did he fight for her? May have been forcibly removed and placed with him.
Debt free dad will have all the time his daughter will need. The extra job is not a forever thing, it's to make sure they have financial security with debt out of the way. He can work at home and a ten year-old can actually assist him while learning the value of hard work. Helping a parent with career goals in some countries is actually more character building than pricey soccer or ballet classes.
When I first started listening to Dave I thought he was fake. Then I started following his plan. 3yrs ago I had $11k cc balance Now I have no debt. I cut up my cc. I bought a home cash. I have big savings account I make $48k. Life is way different now
It's the symptom of not thinking clearly about what should be obvious. I'm grateful for the day I found the DR show in 2015. If not for Mr Ramsey I would have paid the bank almost $20000.00 in interest on a home painting job that actually cost less than the interest the bank was charging me on the loan amount. This happened because I was stupid enough to accept their offer of a large unsecured debt amount. After I realised how they were gouging me, I paid the preda.....I mean banker off in a lumpsum from my savings then paid myself back with an even bigger interest percentage. Cut 2 and a 1/2 years of payments and paid myself the interest I would have just handed to the devi.....banker. Listening to this show cured my symptoms by reprogramming my brain
Great motivation by Dave - Callers have hit bottom - picks them up - provides the Nuts & Bolts = Real tools of finance & to a new path - listening gives me motivation every time - Fantastic Personality.
I have children his age. They grew up in a house where we made choices. Do we go on vacation or do we buy a car? We can only do what we can afford to do when paying cash. And we saved for whatever we chose to do. As parents we have to teach our children about finances. This poor guy needs to learn how to live responsibly.
Wish I would have started listening to Dave years ago. Probably wouldn't be divorced and on my 2nd Ch 7 bankruptcy. Meeting of creditors Tuesday. Make over $100k by myself and couldn't live. As I've started watching my budget I've saved $5k in savings in 3 months even with paying almost $1500 a month in child support and $575 a month on my ex wife's car. I can't pay off the car until the bankruptcy order is final which will only have 1 payment left anyways. Then I have $18k in 401k loans and $1600 in federal taxes to pay off. But if I stay discipline and motivated I've got this.
All debt is bad - it is called living beyond your means! Then making excuses ie student loans, health emergency , my girlfriend etc etc. If you have a mortgage make sure it is only 25 percent and amortized over 15 not 30 years but try to pay it off in 10. Just make sure you have around 300-700k invested in what ever by the time ur 45. That by self it self can grow into millions
When the caller mentions he is living with his girlfriend...😬 I thought Dave was gonna let him have it lol
Now that you mention that, I wonder if any of those debts are hers?
That’s not that much debt though? 🤔
This is exactly what it took me a decade to figure out.
You do not have a debt problem. You have an income problem! Dan Lok
Yooo! Also take into consideration the child tax credit he'll be getting now that he has fu custody of his daughter! Make sure you have even LESS taken out because of that!
Sadly, a year from now will be the same story just more debt and the GF being pregnant now.
Great video.... I think we are making progress as a country in turning things around yes this is a slow process but after awhile watch out when peoples friends, relatives, co workers, ETC finally catch on watch out. We are at the beginning of a turning point to some very exciting things that are going to happen in the very near future. One thing is for sure "YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS OUT ON THIS!" anyway Dave I am very grateful for most of the things you do and all your hard work. Thank you and have a supper great week as I know you will....
Dave is savage his gf needs to go 😂😂😂
It's true though.
Dave missed the opportunity to talk the caller on taking side gigs to increase his income
Dave finally happy lol
You can no it
I am scared of Dave 😂😂😂
Das deep.
So I have $6000 on car loan and owe the IRS $6000 , which one should I pay off first?
Always the IRS.
The IRS can kill you.
The auto loan company cannot.
Make good choices....
Dave, if I had one wish it, would be for you to go on Joe Rogan.
He can't pay $2000 a month, he has to pay rent, utilities, and food.
