His car was totaled a couple months ago, and I urged him to use his savings and insurance money to buy a good used car for around $5-7K. Him: "I need a reliable car so I don't miss work"...FINANCED a 2018 Nissan Altima at a really high interest rate. "I have a plan, and I'm going to pay this car off quickly." Me: Smh.

Debt is a symptom of being a lifelong consumer. Instead of thinking of consumption, think of how you can Produce and make the money work for you instead of only getting deeper into the rabbit hole of debt. If you have any cash laying around, invest it at 7-13 percent average annual return and have money work for you instead of trading your time for an income.

He can't work two jobs!! Yes, you missed that he "Just got custody of a 10 year old" - What's he supposed to do? leave her with the girlfriend? Kids at that age need 'face time' with their parent especially since her world was just upended! Take her with him to the FPU classes - let her help do budgets -- show her her opinion is valued (there is a reason he got custody) - great teaching moments! But do not leave her with a girlfriend - take a little extra time to pay off that debt - She needs her dad to 'be' with her -- kids don't want your money, they want your time. A statement my son made to me after he was grown - "Mom, we never had a lot of extra money, but you always had time for me" ... Kids do not get 'Do Overs" in life growing up.

The mother, the State, foster care, RAP(relative as parent)….
      Why didn't he have custody?
      Has he ever had custody?
She may not even Know him or of him.

Debt free dad will have all the time his daughter will need. The extra job is not a forever thing, it's to make sure they have financial security with debt out of the way. He can work at home and a ten year-old can actually assist him while learning the value of hard work. Helping a parent with career goals in some countries is actually more character building than pricey soccer or ballet classes.

It's the symptom of not thinking clearly about what should be obvious. I'm grateful for the day I found the DR show in 2015. If not for Mr Ramsey I would have paid the bank almost $20000.00 in interest on a home painting job that actually cost less than the interest the bank was charging me on the loan amount. This happened because I was stupid enough to accept their offer of a large unsecured debt amount. After I realised how they were gouging me, I paid the preda.....I mean banker off in a lumpsum from my savings then paid myself back with an even bigger interest percentage. Cut 2 and a 1/2 years of payments and paid myself the interest I would have just handed to the devi.....banker. Listening to this show cured my symptoms by reprogramming my brain

Dave gave him FPU for free! The budget creation and group synergy can be pivotal. Budget details are given in the class. I have budgeted for years and learned something new. If the guy who called has never budgeted and/or doesn't know how to create one, it will be really helpful. The group classes also offers accountability.

Actually this is taking responsibility for past mistakes, cleaning up mess, training to not be impulsive, living like proverbs. This is math. The gospel is Jesus dying for your sins. Taking the penalty. Money is a tool, Dave train’s how to handle the blessings God has bestowed on us. Being a good steward is part of sanctification not the end goal. It is a matter of the heart.

Great video.... I think we are making progress as a country in turning things around yes this is a slow process but after awhile watch out when peoples friends, relatives, co workers, ETC finally catch on watch out. We are at the beginning of a turning point to some very exciting things that are going to happen in the very near future. One thing is for sure "YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS OUT ON THIS!" anyway Dave I am very grateful for most of the things you do and all your hard work. Thank you and have a supper great week as I know you will....
