To be fair this is the same guy stating the Little Mac is also assumed immortal /ageless so yeah hyperbole levels are way off the scale here.
TL:DR: Nintendo just wanted a new punchout game to make the Wii sit "closer to home" with those of us whom had the NES and gamers of that era, there is no timeline , Little Mac is not immortal / ageless he doesn't have some life threatening illness, there is no deeper "untold story" it's just a game and to quote MST3K :"We should breathe and just relax."

You know, he could have been bullied since he was 5 or 6 and had to deal with bullies growing up. He might have had to outfight, outrun, and out-think to stay alive if he grew up in a bad place. He's obviously poor since he can't afford (or his parents' can't) to train in a decent gym and he must have had just enough spunk from surviving in a bad place to get Doc's attention. Way I see it, even by the age of 17, Little Mac must already have 10 years of experience with bigger people. Doc's training just made him become the badass he always was.
if we take this video seriously and ignore the fact that nintendo said that this was a reboot, then there's still the 15 year problem...

I feel like the reference of "15 years" in the commercial was more of a reference that it's been a long time between punch out games. I don't know exactly but I assume it would be 15. They did the same thing in the 3ds game Kid Icarus Uprising. They mention how it's been "30 years" since they last fought Medusa, because that's exactly how long the gap between the games were. Pit even opens the game saying "sorry to keep you waiting." He isn't talking to any character in the game, it's literally the first thing that is said when you start level one. He's talking to the player, apologizing for taking so long to release a game. Now I'm he game they make lots of references to 30 years, like Magnus saying Palutena has been gone for so long that the world has been in chaos. So while it might make sense in uprising (as it is completely believable that an angel wouldn't age) I think we can assume the 15 years isn't referencing any in game timeline, just a marketing nod.

Mac is NOT 32. Not only is the ad you relied on most likely fake, but it would make no sense if canon.
The timeline is that it goes NES, Wii, then Smash Bros, since it's after he retired.
If Little Mac was 17 and 5'7" in the Wii version, why is he still portrayed still as 5'7" in Smash Bros?

Pretty sure they messed up that height/weight data. I'm 5'7", I weigh almost 150lbs, and I'm lightly built, nowhere near as defined as Little Mac is.
I'm 14 and 6'0", and I weigh 170-180 lbs. I'm pretty muscular though, so I really don't know.

There might actually be another reason why he's such a good boxer: The star punch.
Its a technique that little mac got from Doc Louis (since he uses it agaisnt you in doc louis's punch out) and its his most powerful punch. I have no idea how it works but a fully charged one can down his opponent in one hit!

NES Punch out is part 1, The chronological sequel to NES Punch Out is the NIntendo Wii U punch out.
The true sequel to Little Macs story is the SNES Punch Out with the blonde guy.

There is no timeline in punchout. The Wii game is just a remake which is why mac is a greater height and 17.
Little mac’s story is basically this:
Mac has always wanted to be the greatest boxer of all time, but he had trouble finding a coach that would train him. After hundreds of coaches turned him down Mac met Doc, an old retired boxer, who decided to take him in because he saw a lot of raw potential and determination in Mac (being rejected hundreds of times and still asking for a coach will do that). So Doc trained little Mac for a bit until entering him until the small minor league. Mac took on his opponents until he became the champion and wanted to keep going to be the best so he went to the major league. Despite any beat downs or problems Mac faced he continued to keep going until he was the champion and go to the top. There he fought hard until he beat the champion. Then (in the remake of punch outs case) he proved that he was still the best by defending his title against every opponent he had beat, and then eve beating an ape in a boxing match (Donkey Kong). After accomplishing his dream little Mac realized there was so much more he could do since he had his whole life ahead of him, but he didn’t want to just quit. So he decided to go against every opponent he has lost to and fight them until he lost 3 times. Little Mac’s boxing career is remembered forever in boxing history and little Mac lives on following whatever dream he has.

at 17, I consistently out fought other fighters up to almost twice my age both in martial arts and boxing in tourneys and tough man competitions. Intelligence and beating on your craft relentlessly can have you outsmart even experience, especially if you back it up with athletic performance. That's just on beating older and bigger opponents. That and he is a time lord

This isn't that much of a story, more like a theory.. a fucking game theory..
nintendo stated that the reason why he's 4'8 in the NES game was because of the graphics on the NES and that they wanted the player to see the opponent better. with the new punchout game, they made him taller since it would be awkward to keep him at the same height. the wii commercial was referencing "15 years" as in 15 years since a new game.
Or Mac and Doc Louis could've gotten married and have kids of their own and somehow look exactly the same and became best friends. Following that, Mac Jr. wanted to pursue the dreams of his father and Doc Louis Jr. helped him. And Mac Jr. seemed to grower quicker than his father at their times. This also might explain the other fighters reappearing in punch out wii :P

ik this came out in 2015 but you didn't notice one small detail. he looks smaller on the NES than on the Wii Punch-Out because of the camera angle. the camera is just a bit above the ring in the NES Punch-Out while in the Wii version the camera is at about Little Mac's eye level. if the camera was also at his eye level in the NES then he would be 5'7" just like in the Wii version.

There were two versions on the Nintendo, Punchout & Mike Tyson's Punchout. In the first one you fight Mr. Dream at the end, where as in the other one you fight Mike Tyson instead.
Yeah actually as a small guy myself I have many ways to defeat a taller and heavier opponents. The advanteges of beeing taller than your opponents are that you have better range but a big disadvantage is that a smaller oponent will see your atttacks from miles away and your range is only a temporary advantage that can be overcome in a very easy way. When you get close enough to make using his fists hard or even immposible than you simply must split your focus on his legs with special focus on his knees and him trying to grab you or using his weight to stop you wich is why in that moment usually it is best to start beeing more agresive and try breaking his legs or any other bone you can break or dismantle. Unless you are to weak to do anything than just play dead. (sorry for my bad grammar and greetings from Poland)
