The hbc starts in SD card mode. If you press 1 or 2 you can switch it to USB mode then it will show the contents of the USB drive in slot 2. Try the NZero game as well. Always good to have a working nunchuck

I don't think that was the problem. The homebrew channel shows the SD Card as a default setting. I think if you press 1 or 2 on your WiiMote it will switch to the USB, it probably doesn't matter in which port it is.

For the first Minecraft you tried, have you tried a Pro Controller that plugs into the bottom of the Wiimote? That gives you two sticks.

oh yeah cavex is getting a big update later on this year (i think) with survival mode and a working inventory sooo love to see a sequel, also it will probably support the pro controller but no promises :)

fun fact the wii has a compatibility list of what usb drives it uses that the community found out, there is a spreadsheet about the usb drives that are actually compatibility but usb drives are not recommended because homebrew like usbloader gx and other gameloading software bricks the usb and makes it unusable. Always use a sd or a usb harddisk
the problem was that he didnt switch the homebrew channel to load homebrew from the usb using the 2 button or he didnt put it in the correct slot
@@ZsobixLmao it doesn't matter what port you insert the USB when you are in HBC, and you also have to press 1 to change where to show apps, 2 changes the layout.

The nunchuck you were using was most likely not an official Nintendo brand one. Wii sports boxing has the same issue of the nunchuck not sending to inputs to the game.
Respect to the homebrew/Wii community's as always the best support for a unsupported console

Minecraft came out in 2011 (classic/alpha/beta in 2009), probably one of the last years for the Wii. We could have probably seen a Minecraft: Wii Edition, but instead the world had to wait for the Wii U edition.
...But somewhere... in an alternate universe... Minecraft: Wii Edition exists...
I’m happy I’m not the only Australian who has homebrewed their Wii.

While the Wii ultimately didn't get as much play time from Child me as the 360 and ps3 did, I am super nostalgic for it and it's one of the things I think of first when reminiscing on my childhood. It was super innovative for its time and felt like the first step into methods of gaming that allowed you to be more involved. While today we have shit like VR headsets that blow the Wii out of the water, I remember loving the motion controls back then on games like Wii Sports.
Hey you should probably know that only the usb port at the bottom of the Wii works for usb drives. That might of been the issue. and sometimes you need to press 1 or maybe 2 on homebrew channel menu and select usb.
My uncle used to tell me that he'd download minecraft for me on the wii but warned me that it was alpha and I wouldn't like it because it was so old that there was no beds, and that turned little me off. I regret that decision now -_-

ive looked at the controls of a wiimote and you probably need a nunchuck to _really_ play minecraft:
nunchuck:
thumbstick - move
square (forgot the name) - mine
c - place/use
remote:
d-pad - move camera
a - jump
b - crouch
plus - pause
1 - scroll items left
2 - scroll items right
imk if i missed any controls
The 3DS had is own native version of Minecraft its wild how many changes they made to get it working.

When you tried using the USB ports in the back did you use the correct one because when I first attempted to Homebrew my old week I ran into a similar problem but it was because I wasn't using the correct USB Port just a little heads up

It is such a missed opportunity for Minecraft to not have been on the Wii but I guess Minecraft released during the Wii U's release so it would have been odd to divert what little attention the Wii U got back to the Wii. But still, even though they came out, Minecraft on the Wii U and 3DS were such missed opportunities released at the wrong times. Even in an incredibly downgraded form, Minecraft on the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS could have been a huge deal in 2012.
It would have been massive to have it on the Wii hey! I can understand why not but it's defs a shame
Minecraft for 3DS would have run like ass tbh, tho I think releasing it near the launch of the New 3DS would have been perfect

But still, something akin to the scope of Minecraft Pocket Edition would have been decent to have on the Wii, especially since it was a time where every single kid didn't have a tablet or smart phone just yet.

I love modding wiis, also if you format your USB to fat32, it should work as long as it is a compatible brand/model

There is this other gamecube controller that is connected via the knunkchuk port, those controllers are not that expensive. maybe that is the controller that is referred in the description of CavEX

HBC has GC controller support, should have checked if it worked in the menus and just load the game with no wiimote . Also you can set it up so it launches the HBC on boot, or even a specific app/game.
I'm very suprised you were able to do all of this without installing bootmii!

USB port only works if you have usb loader downloaded on the wii

Last I checked in North America, most to all games are rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board
hey, just a heads up wii motion plus remote have issues in homebrew, atleast the black versions do, try a non motion plus remote
