Mopar Front Steel Bumper Install on a Jeep Gladiator Mojave (Factory LED Fog Lights and Skid Plate)

  • It is unfortunate that the Jeep Gladiator Mojave comes only with a front factory plastic bumper that, although has better lines for off-roading than say a Sport Wrangler, still leaves something to be desired in terms of styling, durability and the ability to install a winch without blocking the grill.
There are a lot of front-winch-bumper options out there for the Jeep Wrangler (JL) and Jeep Gladiator (JT). Ultimately what steered me towards a Mopar Front Steel Bumper off of a used Wrangler Rubicon 392, is the combination of styling and functionality. Although pricier that a lot of the aftermarket options out there, many of these used steel bumpers, taken off of Rubicon models by those who have upgraded to an aftermarket bumper, can be found in the used market at very competitive prices. I happened to find a deal on this set that included the steel bumper (with LED fog lights), the front steel skid plate, and a winch mounting plate, made by Warn.
I just could not pass on this deal as I really want installing a winch to be one of my first priorities of this Mojave build. The install is pretty straightforward but there are a few hurdles to jump over. Especially if you want to retain your previous Jeep's tow hooks!

In order to take off those washer/nuts you have to bend the bits that hold in to the bolt thread, you do each bit and it will fly off.

Thanks so much for this helpful video! Should I be able to use a t45 that fits a socket wrench to remove the nuts around the bumper to get to the tow hooks or do I have to use a torque wrench? Thanks !

Great video, thank you for all the helpful information. Does anyone know the part number for the fog light “holder”? I got a steel bumper but it’s bare and I need to find the missing parts

Thanks! I'm glad you found it useful! The closest thing I could find to that fog light holder is this piece. It's the metal bracket that I think the fog light holder attaches to. But it doesn't show anything else beyond that. www.moparamerica.com/oem-parts/mopar-bumper-bracket-kit-right-68325051ad?c=Zz1mcmFtZS1idW1wZXItYW5kLWZhc2NpYSZzPWZyb250LWJ1bXBlci1hbmQtZmFzY2lhJmw9NDAmbj1Bc3NlbWJsaWVzIFBhZ2UmYT1qZWVwJm89d3JhbmdsZXImeT0yMDIyJnQ9cnViaWNvbiZlPTMtNmwtdjYtZ2Fz

Just what I was looking for! Thanks!
Also, question: I had an “encounter” with my stock Mojave bumper. Only thing that’s damaged is the front plastic and the tabs that keep it in place on the outer edge. I’m wondering if it’s possible to buy just that outermost shell. Not sure I’m going to find people willing to part theirs out. :/

Glad it could help! I’m not sure if anyone might part out the factory Mojave bumper, but I do see them for sale all the time on marketplace. Might be worth keeping an eye out for one. I sold mine to someone for $40.

Great video, very informative. I also have the same 22 Mojave. I've heard the the Mojave skid plate will work and won't work. In your estimation with having both on hand what would have to be done to make rhe Mojave plate fit? Thanks for any insight

    • @TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy
      @TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy  Рік тому +1

Thanks! In order to make the Mojave plate fit, some minor cutting/fabrication of the bottom part of the front steel bumper where the skid plate and bumper meet, would have been necessary. To some, it is worth doing as they wish to retain the look of the mojave front skid plate. To me, this was an easier route to take and it looks just as good, in my opinion. There are a couple other youtube videos I've seen where they went that route instead.

Man, I've been considering this for a while but stupidly I can't get past the not using the Mojave skid plate.

That was a hurdle for me as well. The silver skid plate is unique to the Mojave and I wanted to mod the Jeep but still keep some of the Mojave characteristics.

I’m half way through my install & it looks like adding a 3/8 steel plate to the bumper pushes it out enough to re-use the Mojave skid. There’s a guy on the gladiator forum that makes & sells ‘em for $45, less than buying a rubicon skid.

Where did you buy that steel bumper? Is it Mopar? What did it cost? Love it. This is the first steel bumper I would put on my jeep. What do you have in the rear? Thanks great video.

It was a factory Mopar steel bumper from a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 that I found on Facebook marketplace. It was around $450. For the back I installed a factory steel bumper and rock trails off of a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. I posted a video about that installation as well. Thanks!

These are an option you can buy from Mopar. If you want the aluminum version, then company makes a copy of this CP concepts and sold through terrain extreme for weight savings.

Have you had any flickering on the fog lights after you changed the factory wire harness? I have a none LED package and buying the same Rubi steel bumper that comes with LED fogs light. After watching your video I’ll do the same and swap the fog lights wiring to hopefully not get the flickering.

    • @TheNotSoOrdinaryCarGuy

I had ZERO flickering! I was worried too after reading some forums about it. But it was just plug in play.
