Saw him earlier this year and they sound exactly the same. Unsure how something as difficult as their style holds up so well but so many other major bands have fallen off. Pretty amazing.
Michael Kiske, the Angel's Voice from Heaven!!! Saw him live the first time with Helloween back in 1987!!! He's still one of the greatest Metal Singer! Greetings from Stuttgart, Germany!
Greetings and Love from Germany. Helloween had a little reunion in 2017, performing as 'Helloween Pumkins United', with first vocalist and guitarist Kai Hansen & second singer Michael Kiske & current singer Andi Deres. They played at Wacken 2017 an amazing show thats worth to take a look. "How Many Tears" is a great song...also the songs "Halloween" and "Keeper of the seven keys"...stay safe, my dear..❤
A "little" reunion? They still on TOUR TOGETHER! jajaja I saw them on the first show they opened the Tour here on my city: Monterrey, México, october 2018...when Michael Kiske do the play back on some songs (video on youtube) Greetings from México!
@@antoniocarlin5026 😂😂yes, little,...i often like to understate, part of my weird humor., hihi...for me its the ultimate reunion, buddy..(also Maidens ´reunion´ when Bruce and Adrian returned)..i love Helloween & Maiden since1985...stay safe, my friend.....& Saludos a México... Eres imbatible como público, solo el público en tus plazas de toros, eso no me gusta nada, perdón, lo llaman tradición, deportes o entretenimiento familiar. Para mí, esto no es más que una crueldad despiadada y bárbara hacia los animales. 🤘🤘🌈🌈
I like how you can see more and more from minute to minute how your opinion and enthusiasm for this wonderful song continues to grow. I still feel that way today, even after more than 30 years.
Helloween has had 3 different lead singers, and lots of bands out there would kill to have any of them. That being said... Michael Kiske has Geoff Tate (of Queensryche) level talent and range. So many great songs out there, and as others have said... They are touring with all their singers now. Hearing Kiske and Andy Deris sing together is a genuine treat. Its honestly a crime that more people don't listen and react to them! Thanks for this video!!
Moreover, all 3 of them sound great today. The reunited pumpkins are a sight to behold, Deris and Kiske sound amazing together and their range is off the charts.
Here's the same song from Wacken 2018. Michael Kiske starts and Andi Deris joins for a duet. In Madrid (same tour) Michael introduced the song: "The next song is about 30 years old. When I recorded it I was something like 18 years with long, long hair. I always wanted to look like Elvis Presley but I ended up looking like Robert Halford..." ua-cam.com/video/fdI847ReWis/v-deo.html
This is in my opinion the best singer and best fit in Helloween. A played both "Keeper"-albums over and over when they were released back in the eighties! (Vinyl of course)
Thanks for this stuff! I heard this song for a first time as a boy in elementary school in the late 80's. It opened the door to music for me and I discovered that there is something more than mainstream like Radio Ga Ga or Money for nothing played on the radio or TV. At that time in Poland Metallica was already a cult band, but I was a kid, it was too hard to listen to. Helloween hit me like a thunderbolt. I borrowed the vinyl from a friend and listened to this track over and over again. It changed my approach to music. To hear your commentary on this song was a HUGE pleasure 😊
Thx for doing Helloween. I met Michael Kiske (much later, sans hair), when he was rehearsing in friends rehearsal space in Karlsruhe. What a loveable guy. And the voice... magnificient. 👍👍👍
Glad you got to this very influential band. The song I recommend is long as heck, but it showcases the music style of the band, and you get to hear the other frontman Andi Deris (Kiske was gone for some time, but now he´s back, and there are two frontmen): ua-cam.com/video/1CqaLqNyFDI/v-deo.html Keeper of the Seven Keys. And it´s also quite recent (2017).
This song and performance is a great entry to Helloween and Kiske. Next you should check out something from the Pumpkins United world tour. All living former members united. There are some great duets between Kiske and Andi Deris on songs that they've both performed separately with the band before
I really enjoyed this video. I got to take a peek into Kiske's bag of tricks. And the reference of a full sound, is something worth keeping in mind when arranging... Also loved the little pause, it did create quite a bit of anticipation. Really an awesome and fun breakdown.
I am Greek and you are correct with the pronunciation as well as with the tempo of the intro. Also the high pitched guitar tone sounds a little bit like bouzouki, so there you go... Helloween is a band with great history and amazing songs. Worth checking them out. Love your reactions.
If you are a metalhead from Germany, you have to know 2 Bands, Blind Guardian and Helloween, no matter if you like them or not ;-) I do strongly recomment Keeper of the seven keys from Paris live from the Pumpkin united tour!
Definitely “Eagle Fly Free,” “I Want Out,” “I’m Alive” are great examples of Michael Kiske’s vocal talents in Helloween, and “Future World” is a lot of fun at the top of his vocal range… and of course, the epic “Keeper of the Seven Keys”
what a lovely analysis! when you say: the way he's creating these vocal lines, I like that he's sort of clips them, they feel so abbreviated at the end of either a phrase or a sentence and so when he has moments of beautiful legato, you can sum it up in one sentence with two clauses: he is really really really a talented singer and he's the POWER METAL'S FATHER. YOU ROCK, THE VOCALYST!!! KEEP ON ROLLING!!!!
This was a great ballad by Helloween. I've never heard this version. Helloween are considered the grandfather's of Power metal, just in case you didn't know. - from an old metal head.
Michael Kiske is an excellent singer, but the studio version of this song underlines the beauty of the song itself, because the limits of Michael's voice are fine-tuned and mainly he is calm for 1 song, it is not a demanding concert, the voice is rested. I recommend the studio version to get a feel for this song. In my opinion, it really belongs in the TOP 5 world metal ballads. 🤘
This is a great song and a great version! That guitar solo starting at 1.07 is added in this version and wasn't there at the studio recording, but I think it's great.
Loved your reaction. I would encourage you to see something from Helloween from Waken or Pumpkins Reunited where all three singers take the stage. All Helloween singers are AMAZING, yet very different. It is a real treat to hear them together
This live was performed in 92 and is not the best live version of this song. Listen to live performances of this song in 87 and 89, which are currently on UA-cam. Even though it is just few year earlier than this performance, his vocal capability at high notes is very different. I guess he had aged quite a bit in few years around that time.
Maybe one of the most beautiful rock ballands of all time. Incredible reaction my lady for Helloween. you must listen many other songs from them such as " I want out, Dr.Stein ,Number one" etc Greetings from Greece (Syrtaki ,souvlaki, mousaka and Greek salad)
You just listened to the, imo, greatest vocalist ever. Do yourself a favor and do a reaction to their studio version of Keeper of the Seven Keys, which, once again imo, the greatest vocal performance ever layed down for a song.
This is a fine song, but it isnt what Helloween is known for. You should check out "keeper of the seven keys" to see what Helloween is all about. Luckly there are good and relatevely recent recordings from their first reunion tour,.
Great song and reaction! I love the bit about "strong" - I've always had a devil of a time singing that word and having it sound right cus it's too easy to slip into nasal resonance. I've tried putting my lips a bit to darken it and help push it forward and that works but the way he handles it in this vid is great too.
There all kinds och rock and metal but this is what rock and metal is all about, in my opinion. Very good comments and instructions btw. This is their trademark.
Kiske and Hansen also have another band...Unisonic. The song Exceptional from live at Wacken in 2016 is a MUST view. Kiske's range is still like this and he's in his 50s!
the way you feel the music of is exactly what i try to explain to my parents when they ask ,, whay do you like that kind of music,,,but they´ll never understand , you´re awesome nice review of mr MICHAEL KISKE,, PLEASE DO THE SAME AT HIS CURRENT AGE 2023
I love your reaction videos, you have a very likeable personality as well as a calming voice and great analysis. I would love to hear you react to two lesser requested performances from two powerhouse singers with insane vocal power, one of them is "Hiroshima Mon Amour" by Alcatrazz (sung by Graham Bonnet who has a ridiculously powerful voice) and the other one is Michael Bolton singing "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You", your analysis would be perfect for these two songs
That was live in 1992. Theres a rare live that goes even higher on the last chorus. You can react to his incredible performances and songs like longing,do i remember a life? and the key to the universe...all these are top of the top 🔝🔝🔝 along with others the most well known helloween. Listen to painted an amazing pop rock track 😎😁
Michael he has a tenor type voice and possesses an almost 4 octave vocal range, as he is capable of reaching extremely high notes (A5) and low baritone notes (E2) as well
I think a bunch of people here would agree with me on this, you need to react to Skid Row (Sebastain Bach on vocals) "Wasted Time", "In a darkened Room", "I remember You" for starters. Perhaps the best front man of the 80's metal scene, top 5 rock vocalist of all time for sure.
As good as he is here, he's usually even better! You can tell from the beginning he's struggling with his voice a bit... but he's a powerhouse! And on album, forget about it, one of the best!
Kiske is my favorite metal singer. I dont know, i just love his tone and phrasing. I have seen him live three times, two with Avantasia and the other one with Helloween and he was fantastic.
Just FYI: Sirtaki is actually a relatively recent invention in the grand scheme of Greek traditions. While the dance incorporates elements of traditional Greek dances like the syrtos and hasapiko, the specific choreography and the famous music by Mikis Theodorakis were created specifically for the 1964 film "Zorba the Greek."
An interesting choice for a first reaction to Helloween. I enjoyed it! I would highly recommend that you check out "How Many Tears" from their Pumpkins United tour. Why? Because you'll get to experience all three of the vocalists they have had over the years, and also some amazing high notes from Michael Kiske, almost 40 years into his career. And I feel that Andi Deris, who replaced him in the band is a highly underrated vocalist. Other, more common choices to react to are "Halloween" (just make sure you don't do the edited official video for the song) and "Keeper of the Seven Keys." Helloween is pretty much responsible for power metal becoming what it is, and I think Michael Kiske belongs up there with the metal greats (Dio, Dickinson, Halford, etc...).
Great band United tour Madrid Awesome Please don't forget Diana Navarro it is another style but incredible voice too the song cuplerias performed live in gala premios Ceres is absolutely incredible
Kiske still is an amazing singer. Thats a testament to not getting caught up in hard living. I remember reading an interview decades ago where he said he also enjoyed singing Arias. His voice and style often does seem operatic. If you get a chance, check out their song Keeper of the Seven Keys. It really features Kiske's range, as well as that of the music they made from their early era. But it gets a little more " metalic".
Very great ! Been a fan of Helloween and Kiske from the very beginning. That was the young lad there, but, he hasn´t lost much, very capable and unique singer he is, still. Try someday something after their reunion, live performance get´s you three singers, not just one, if you choose wisely. Michael Kiske, Andi Deris and Kai Hansen are legends on their own and together, well, check it out. Oh, covers ! Yes, he may be the reincarnation of Elvis. Very good Elvish voice, deep and velvety, he has.
OMG!!! hell yeah!!!! check out their pumpkins unite live as well, it is amazing. the sound quality is really good and they play with 2 singers nowadays ;)
Michael Kiske is a beast. I believe he was like 19 years old here. Check him out now in his 50s and bald, and joined by his now band mate Andi Deris who is great in his own right: ua-cam.com/video/fdI847ReWis/v-deo.html And speaking of Michael and Andi singing together, this is a must see reaction video for you: ua-cam.com/video/VAVeG4KS0JM/v-deo.html (their epic song Halloween from their United Alive tour)
Never heard this group before but the electric guitar intro is very David Gilmour-esque in the style and approach. Love the Pink Floyd accents throughout. Michael has vocal qualities similar to Geoff Tate. Lots of band blending here.
Michael is a beast of a metal singer...one of the pioneers of the genre. He has qualities in his higher range similar to Geoff Tate, but with a slightly darker coloring. And I forgot he used to have beautiful hair!
Michael Kiske is one of the best rock singers and he still sounds great today.
He may lost his hair but not his voice

I completely agree with you, unfortunately his name does not appear on the list of the greatest rock and metal singers in history

you right.... but you should listen to Crimson Glory- Lost Reflection as well.
Best wishes to you 🙂
Metal wouldn't be what it is without Germany, pal, and Helloween holds that flag. Greetings!!

Glad you finally get to hear Helloween. I've been a fan of them since the 80's.

this is one of the most unique voices in metal i believe. there is no other voice similar to that.

“Eagle fly free” and “I believe” and the “The Chance” are songs where this handsome fella shines a lot
I suggest also "We got the Right". To me, his best demonstration of skill and power.. goosebumps or tears!

One of my alltime greatest metal-ballads - so damn good!!🤘
Michael Kiske is a beast.
I love Michael Kiske. He still perfrom e flat .After years
Never heard this group before but the electric guitar intro is very David Gilmour-esque in the style and approach. Love the Pink Floyd accents throughout. Michael has vocal qualities similar to Geoff Tate. Lots of band blending here.
For the most part, they go way faster... 😉😉
Saw them at donington monsters of rock in 88 bloody brilliant
Kiske God of rock
"Keeper of the 7 keys" from them is more amazing. Vocals are on another planet.
Michael is a beast of a metal singer...one of the pioneers of the genre. He has qualities in his higher range similar to Geoff Tate, but with a slightly darker coloring. And I forgot he used to have beautiful hair!
In the middle of a heartbeat 💓
