"An Uzi??? I'm not from South Central Los fucking Angeles. I didn't come here to shoot 20 black 10-year-olds in a fucking drive-by" LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
Ralph Fiennes is not fucking underrated. On every video like this, there's someone saying "[really well-known and respected person] is underrated". On this video, that's you! And you must know he's not. You're not the only one to have noticed how good he is.
I hope it's not racist to say that black people do have a knack for going too over the top on almost anything. Like guns, money, cars, clothes, women, ect.
Yeah, it's an unnerving response and hard to gauge the emotion Fiennes put behind it. A mix of 'I'm more comfortable in this situation than anything else' and a tinge of pity for what he'd do to the guy....
"I know I shouldn't, but I will." Such a simple line, but so stellar given the context. One of many hilarious lines in this emininently quotable master-comedy.
This movie is full of Chekov's guns. The ending is delivered perfectly when the audience recalls Harry buying expanding bullets in this scene, and later describing his principle around killing children. Even the fact that Jimmy was seen wearing the schoolboy costume well before his final shoot is an excellent moment of foreshadowing.
jesus...... you must be a genius.... it's as if Kubrick just spoke to me from the dead................... It's all pretty obvious mate- it wasnt some crazy secret twisty foreshadowing at all.
We saw this movie in english class earlier this week (best english teacher ever?) and from 2:03 and onwards on this scene I just sat and laughed louder and louder together with the other guys. Fiennes is such an awesome actor!
Nooks and crannies! I visited Bruges entirely because of this film, and it really is a beautiful place. Forgot to visit the park and see the alcoves though
im so incredibly stoked that this little-seen at the time movie has got such a big following now. It's one of my very favorites, actually. Now that I think of it. I remember when it was released, how cooly received it was, critically... Most saw it as an overly violent Tarantino knockoff. But it's so, so much more. Again, couldn't be happier it's gotten the attention it deserves, these years past. (By the way - _especially_ worthy of praise is the film's *SCORE* by one Mr. Carter Burwell. it's one of the best of the whole 2000's, I'd wager.)
The music in this movie is like a haunting presence that remembers you something terrible is slowly approaching and will drag everybody with it in the end, which is exactly what happens.
Agree, this is the best film I have ever seen. There are so many moments of tear rolling down your face humor but beneath it a dark sinister story. Its so complex but it runs so smoothly and is a masterclass. I also have some dim-dims. You use this word, dim-dims? The bullets that make the head explode? Harry: Dum-dums. Yeah. Yuri: Would you like some of these dim-dims? Harry: I know I shouldn't... but I will. [takes whole case of dum-dums] lol
Never heard of this film until today & I know I just have to see it. For all the "that's not an Uzi it's a Steyr TMP" crowd, the Uzi is right alongside it.
I've got more problem with him characterizing dum-dum bullets (at least in the US we call them "hollow point" rounds) as a cartridge that would make one's head explode.
@@iii-ei5cv AH-Hum! "With the advent of smokeless powder, velocities increased, and bullets got smaller, faster, and lighter. These new bullets (especially in rifles) needed to be jacketed to handle the conditions of firing. The new full metal jacket bullets tended to penetrate straight through a target causing less internal damage than a bullet that expands and stops in its target. This led to the development of the soft point bullet and later jacketed hollow-point bullets at the British arsenal in Dum Dum, near Calcutta around 1890" THATS why they are called Dum-Dum's, just because you Yanks keep bastardising the English Language , doesn't mean you should have a problem with actual fact
