Yes there is music! It’s the same annoying tune constantly and I can’t turn it off, then I couldn’t hear her. The bags are beautiful though, but why they feel that have to have the music is beyond me. Thank you for the beautiful bags.
Your videos are an inspiration to me. I’ve been away from sewing and recently lost my husband of 54 years. I believe sewing is great therapy and I’m looking forward to trying my hand on your inspirational totes.
Jeanette, I’m so sorry for your loss. My friend has gone through something similar. She and her husband were married the same 54 years as you and years. It’s wonderful that you’ve got your sewing to look forward to, that will help so much.
I have watched and listened to you over and over again as i complete my bag following your precise step by step instructions. You are soooo inspirational and knowledgeable and experienced w this! Clear instructions. You speak so eloquently as well. Full of great ideas i can’t wait to try as i learn to sew at 60 years young. It is sooo much fun. I embrace some of my mistakes.
NOTE ON SEWING THE VINYL: WHAT HELPED ME WITH SEWING ON THE VINYL IS USING A CLEAR ROLLING PRESSER FOOT. IT MADE THE SEWING A LOT SMOOTHER, ESPECIALLY WHEN TOP STITCHING.
Really wonderful video, Pat. I started sewing when I was 9 years old. Over time, with the help of 4-H instructors and home ec teachers, my sister and I grew our sewing knowledge enough to make her wedding dress. This video was better than the sewing shows on PBS !! You are a natural born teacher !! Your video was flawless. I enjoy how you explained WHY you are doing what you are doing as well as the freedom to alter the tote bag as we wish. The end result is a professional looking tote. I can't wait to make one. You made my day !!! Thank you Keep up the great work !!
Beautiful bags. Your workmanship on these bags is exceptional. Very clear instructions. Love the tips at the end about fixing a twisted strap and the embellishments. Thank you.n
TYSVM as a beginner, I need extra help with all my projects. Excellent tutorial. You are a great teacher. Your instructions are crisp and clean. It's so easy to follow your steps. Well done!
PAT DARLING, IN THE VERY WISE WORDS OF THE CREATIVE BOB ROSS: "WE DON'T MAKE MISTAKES, WE MAKE HAPPY ACCIDENTS!" WITH THE WEBBING MISHAP, THAT WAS, A "HAPPY ACCIDENT" THAT TURNED OUT EVEN BETTER! PERFECTION SAUCE SWEETIE!
Thank you for sharing your technique on this beautiful bag. I love the size of it. I love that you added the direction in the description that’s cool. I can’t wait to find you again.
I JUST FINISHED MY TOTE BAG KIT PROJECT AND IT WAS FUN. I HAD LEFTOVER VINYL AND I MADE ANOTHER BAG USING THAT. THESE KITS ARE FUN TO MAKE AND AFTER YOU FINISH IT, YOU CAN'T BELIEVE YOU MADE THAT! I NEED TO GET MORE KITS!
What a well produced tutorial. The visuals were really clear and there was plenty of time to jot notes down without having to stop and go back. Pat explained everything so well and I really appreciated the adaptations at the end. Thank you so much. I feel inspired to do one of these bags myself.
Fantastic!! I’m following your 6 piece bag video to fashion Christmas bags for my church’s Christmas Market !! I’ll be sure to credit you as my inspiration!! Thank You!🙏🏻
Thank you so much Pat, I really really enjoyed watching you create this amazing and awesome 👏 tote bag. And you are really really good with all your instructions and ideas too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I make my totes with a french seam, no serger, no zig zag and no raw edges. I add 1/2 inch to the width. Like your ideas of using the vinyl for decorations. going to do that Thanks for a great video
Great Video.. easy to follow instructions and just love the pattern on the fabric you used .. I’ll be making a few of these and making a few larger ones for the beach next season .. thanks for sharing.. 😊
I made a similar bag today just like yours although I did not put vinyl on the bottom. Your tips and tricks are by far the most excellent I have seen. I love how you match up everything and the double side sticky tape….I need to get some of that asap! I would like to know if you have a written down instruction for this pattern and how you put it together? Thank you so very much for this video.
Thank you for your so amazing video instructions. I've learned your amazing tips. Love how you explain everything so thoroughly. Also the fact that you dont have a loud music in the background. Thank you again! You're an awesome instructor! 👍🙌🌹💐
Thank you I have just found you and your toes bag is great, that my Christmas halfway done now going on the website to see if I can get any more creations thank you once again for your inspiring video 🎉🎉❤❤😊
I enjoyed your explanations and especially the creative tips. I would prefer to have no music in the background ! Your voice is more pleasing to my senses. Thank you.
Exelente tutorial, recién descubrí su canal ,me suscribí para poder tener sus trabajos ,me encantaron los bolsos que hace una belleza 👍gracias por compartir sus conocimientos y experiencias 🤗
Thank you so much for sharing this video, step by step. I wanted to ask you if you can show us how to bind the inside seam. I already went to your website and love the fabric and other items I want to order. I want to make few bags for my two daughters and myself to take to the supermarket and other places. Thank you so much.
Good idea! You can get ready made binding- fold the top down ( raw edge) and just sew around the fabric seams. Or make some - as it is straight it does not need to be cut on the bias.
Such a wonderful and clear video, thank you. Can I ask where did you purchase the blue mat under your pressing board when you iron?? Does it protect your measuring mat from harm?
Great video and bag. Crazy-expensive sewing and embroidery machines like the Lumiere are not needed. Any good Heavy Duty mechanical machines like the popular-priced Singer 4452 or the superb Bernina 1030 will do a great job. Especially for people with good free-motion quilting and embroidery skills.
Hi Paula! We have all kinds of machines to choose from. Are you in our area? Give us a call and ask to speak to the machine Department, we would be happy to help you find the right machine! Our phone # is (407) 831-6488
What is the finished size.? I need it to fit my embroidery arm. It is about 18" x 15" x 5.5" If I got a kit, would there be enough fabric to make it larger?
Your side seams, you don’t do a French seam? You are actually just join them with the bag inside out???? I did not catch that too well. Love your bag and all the help, thank you so very much!
What is the temperature of the iron? How long should you pressure the areas before you “iron” press the material. I got both my mother-in-laws sewing machines when she passed away. I have watched my sister and her sew all my life, but I never got into sewing because I was always working as a nurse. I had a car accident and now disabled. Hurt my lower back and neck. In neck and lower back pain 24/7. I miss nursing. It was my passion. I kept on working for six years in severe agony until my doctor told me I had to go on disability. I had to cervical spine surgery and I am having neck pain and migraines constantly with numbness in my hands. I have a bugling disc again. I think it has finally ruptured. I think this a project that I could manage. On of her sewing machines has 5 big spools of threads. What kind of machine is it? What size needle and best thread and tension? I have picked this up just by listening to them talk throughout the years.
Hi! The wonderful thing about making your own bags is that you can do whatever makes you happy! You can totally use a quilting cotton with a heavy enough stabilizer!
Hi there, you can totally make this with one sided fusible interfacing. Just fuse one side and quilt the top part of the bag together with straight line quilting or use an element in the fabric to quilt alongside. That way your bag front and interfacing will act as one piece. Then sew the webbing on. I hope this helps!
Thank you for not putting music and flashing lights in your video. I subscribed immediately upon knowing this.
Yes! Thank goodness!
Thank you for easy way making beautiful bags
Yes, thank you! No music!😊
But there IS music 😅
Yes there is music! It’s the same annoying tune constantly and I can’t turn it off, then I couldn’t hear her. The bags are beautiful though, but why they feel that have to have the music is beyond me. Thank you for the beautiful bags.
Thank you for your slow and concise instructions

Great information concerning pressing not ironing. Have seen so many utubers not pressing properly.

Do you line the base (that is, cover the vinyl) inside the bag, I must have missed that section if you said anything.
Great tutorial!
Your video is explained nicely. This fabric is directional. Would drive me crazy that one side was up and the other down.

Hi Pat! U just popped up in my feed! Wow! Wish I had this months ago. Can I use a Bernina 830 to make these bags?
Love this you were a wonder teacher
What is the finished size.? I need it to fit my embroidery arm. It is about 18" x 15" x 5.5"
If I got a kit, would there be enough fabric to make it larger?
Details is from you is really nice one can understand rely well
Is there a link for the quilt on the wall behind? I love this quilt. I am going to make this bag but bigger on the bottom to carry a casserole dish.
Your side seams, you don’t do a French seam? You are actually just join them with the bag inside out???? I did not catch that too well. Love your bag and all the help, thank you so very much!
Very detailed video - awesome! How long is the webbing with the shorter handles?
Hi Elaine, That is up to you! You can measure it to be however long you like!
I will try the tape for precision points.
Easy to understand
I'm working on mine today.
Absolutely Beautiful... I would really like to see inside... I am so New at Sewing, Can you put a lining in if you want to ?
Hi Gena, the bag is "self-lined" at the top part until you reach the vinyl at the bottom.
What is the temperature of the iron? How long should you pressure the areas before you “iron” press the material.
I got both my mother-in-laws sewing machines when she passed away. I have watched my sister and her sew all my life, but I never got into sewing because I was always working as a nurse. On of her sewing machines has 5 big spools of threads. What kind of machine is it?
What size needle and best thread and tension? I have picked this up just by listening to them talk throughout the years.
LOVE LOVE LOVE
Which way did you turn material for topstitching? Was it towards the bottom?
Thank you!
Those bags are amazing 🤩 but, noticed that you didn't put a lining inside the bag, as I saw on another video tutorials 🤔
If quilted the backing of the quilt is sufficient.
Loved your video! Can i use a heat press in stead of the iron?
Hi Claudia, It's worth a try if that seems like it will be easier for you. We definitely recommend you try it on a scrap piece of fabric first.
Do you still have that beautiful floral kit available?
could you use quilting cotton with a stabilizer to the bottom panel so the entire bag would be stable enough to stand up on its own?
Hi! The wonderful thing about making your own bags is that you can do whatever makes you happy! You can totally use a quilting cotton with a heavy enough stabilizer!
Does the kits come with a pattern
beutiful tote bag
Nice work. What type of sewing machine is that?
Hi! Pat is sewing on a Brother sewing machine. We love Brother machines!
Where can I purchase the kit please?
I really want to make this, but I only have one-sided fusible interfacing. Any advice?
Hi there, you can totally make this with one sided fusible interfacing. Just fuse one side and quilt the top part of the bag together with straight line quilting or use an element in the fabric to quilt alongside. That way your bag front and interfacing will act as one piece. Then sew the webbing on. I hope this helps!
@@sewingstudiofl it really does! Thank you for your reply, much appreciated
Do you see the raw seams inside the bag
Love your bag but i would like it smaller. Thanks.
Hi what’s the foot on your sewing machine called please?
Fabulous videos thank you Regards Steve
Hi Steve, Pat used the J foot (general purpose foot) and she recommends the teflon foot as well if you are working with a stickier vinyl!
@@sewingstudiofl hi it was the walking foot with roller I was interested in what’s it called?
My general purpose ones nothing like that.
Regards Steve
@@2194steve So that one is called the Dual Feed foot. She put the yarn couching foot attachment on it to sew her yarn on.
