A lot of people say hermit stance isn't good but I find it can be very useful for messing with your opponent, not many people even expect a leroy player to know how to use hermit stance to begin with so they're likely to use a move that can be punished severely. I've gotten wins against people 20 ranks ahead of me in quick matches because they just weren't ready for a leroy that makes good use of hermit stance. I typically just try to remember B3 for homing low (lower ranks never block lows of course but even higher ranked people get confused when I throw it out.) His punches can be great for starting a combo or following B3 since no one is ever ready to block a low THEN a mid/high. Point being, you can get people stuck in some terrifying mind games that'll hand you a perfect on a silver platter. Everyone's got a game plan till a leroy knocks you into the wall within the first five seconds of the round.
"Not Good"to be clear I'm referring to people who don't seem to find a use for most of HS's attacks, yeah he is punishable as hell if you aren't timing and executing certain moves super well but like I said, you can get people in mind games that make punishment impossible, they think it's a high but you struck a low, they try to side step the flurry but it was actually a kick, they expect a rushdown only to be baited into the B4 or B3, now they can say hello to the wall for such misjudgments.
I get what your saying but he's honestly a huge knowledge check character. But most people don't know he's super vulnerable during hermit at like every instance. B3 is good for getting stagger going, but he can easily be ducked. A lot of players tend to duck Leroy because most of his stuff is rather low. So b3 can get blown up, and db3 you can get punished easily if they duck becuase you transition into stance. So your open to be launch punished. Wish we could db our hermit stance instead of pressing 3+4
@@YT-FableKnight yeah, I usually don't run into people who duck but it really cripples my matches when I do cause it catches me so off guard. I picked him up day 1, still suck at the game but Leroy clicked better with me than characters like Jun.
I actually used to play Raina!, i still like the character, and when im bored, I'll pick her up and play, but the good thing is that i know how reina plays, so the match-up is really easy and fun

True but u never know. Pressure, mixups etc is super subjective to every player. Tekken 8 is already a huge 50 50 guessing game. So you can definitely use the feint for more tools to your kit, or you can choose to not to. Biggest thing is just being cognizant to condition your opponent to not press. Which can be kinda hard to sometimes. However in my match experience I have used the feints quite a bit and I find it useful here and there.

@@GamerNemy thanks very much man! So the reason I switched to Leroy is because he is such a fundamental basis character. I find him to be the "pure Tekken" esque character, where majority of the of the roster in 8 feel gimmicky and reliant on mechanical things. Leroy is different and felt really nice because I can dictate the pace of a match by "playing actual Tekken" if that makes sense. So in short I love Leroy because he is the definition of 3D fighting fundamentals. Haha. Shaheen I have played for over 7 years and after having mastery of him, I realized that my fundamentals were lacking. Shaheen is also hella gimmicky tbh and I feel like I lost touch with my ground fundamental play.

Yeah Dragunov is currently cancer, hopefully he will get a much needed adjustment like all the top tiers. Awesome stuff hopefully Leroy will get some quality of life adjustments in the future.
Thanks for the support! Appreciate Nemy as well! Haha. Dragunov is definitely a beast of a character in Tekken 8. I think he just needs to be toned down in terms of combo leverage. He currently gets so much accumulation from certain moves it's insane. Yes! And I do agree! Leroy needs some corrections personally. There are times when you drop combos for seemingly no reason and it drives me insane 😭.

Curious, outside of proper combo tracking are there other adjustments you would like to see? I personally am probably in the minority but I want Leroy to be competitively competent but not cancerous like Dragunov is currently.. Better frame data? More non recoverable damage on moves? My first thing would be to make d 1+2 either force crouch on block and it either be like plus 1 or even a zero frame. The reason I would like this is because Leroy currently doesn't really have anything that can make your opponent respect you when you initiate offense. So d 1+2 having a forced crouch on block would make it perfect to to be "intimidating" for pressure flow. Secondly I actually love having more control over hermit stance cancels. Currently some moves kinda force you into it, and sometimes it can be a detriment. For example Leroy's 10 frame punish move 1,2,4 puts you into hermit stance. There are instances I would like to just punish and remain in neutral stance. Sometimes when you punish and shift into hermit your opponent can launch you which kinda sucks. So I would either like it to where you hold the button so u shift into stance or just press the sequence and it doesn't shift you into stance. Negan got this in s4 of Tekken 7 where you could press 1,2 hold then it would shift you into stance. I would say that's primarily it for buffs that I would like. I do think he does need adjustments and corrections on moves not missing during combos. For example his f 3, 1+2,4 can sometimes just miss your opponent even though you have them in a straight carry angle. Overall I like Tekken 8 Leroy. I'm really happy he's not a carbon copy of his Tekken 7 incarnation. That was a nightmare in T7. In T8 he feels balanced and yet incredibly satisfying when you get your momentum going.

I would like the ability to hermit sidestep stomp, because smarter opponents generally know that out of Hermit you generally do sidestep 1+2 which can be ducked and launched. Hermit sidestep orbital seems to slow to be consistent? Probably just need to get gud with the character. Looking forward to seeing more content in the future. You, GamerNemy, Tekken Kasur, Breadman and Dustiel will be my go to for Leroy info.

Bro Leroy is busted now you don't need to be a specialist, just hop on and span is insane plus frame on block moves and you chip with wall splat and it's over.
I honestly don't think he's busted. He's a bit better from the buffs he got he still has to get in and initiate offense which can be pretty difficult because other characters can interrupt everything he does. In heat he has great utility from it for sure. Overall though I feel Leroy is pretty mid low tier. If I had to give him a letter grade I'd honestly say B tier at best.
@YT-FableKnight idk if you've seen the main man swe video, but he explains the side step 1+2 pretty well being a 14 frame. Back then, idk if they nerfed it, but that shit was insane. I'm not a Leroy player or anything, I main steve and play a little feng on the side, but from what I've seen, he can be really good if ya know what you're doing.
