Clair: Does that narrow it down? Fernand: *sigh* It certainly does. You just described your brother. I just about died. These memory prisms and DLC chapters have beyond redeemed Fernand as a likable character in my eyes. Makes re-watching the main storyline even more heartbreaking.
omfg I swear fernand had the biggest personality change in all of fire emblem history, the memory prisms are amazing with how characters acted before everything went to hell
@@jwil4286 then Rise of the Deliverance 4 happened, and the wedge was driven deeper. And Alm becoming the new leader was the straw that broke the camel’s back. But at least, he was finally unblinded in his final moments.
Yeah, it makes it extremely hard to hate the guy. Until the soul thing. Then you hate him again. But then he redeems himself again, then you're just confused, and you need to sit down to think for a minute.
I imagine that Berkut is a generally nice man. Unfortunately, near the end of the game, his rage and arrogance blinded him from both Alm's kindness and Rinea's love. Both his lust for power and wounded pride consumed him as he gave in to Duma's power. Only when Alm slayed him did return to his old self, albeit too late.
Fernand was such a precious cinnamon roll. How could he go from this sweetness to being the biggest douchebag not attached to Duma or Grieth? He looked so happy in these conversations and during the first DLC map. The pain of losing his little brother and sister as well as his father and stepmother, all at the hands of the people he protected...
BrokenMoonStudios This is why I also hate people who hold resentment for both Fernand and Berkut because you need only pay attention to the story and then the DLC prisms for the story on how Fernand was and how he changed when his family was slaughtered by the people he was meant to protect, the peasants.
Imagine how much we would be crying if there was a Memory Prism that had Fernand finding his dead siblings and he cradled their bodies and screamed in anguish, having lost his family to the commoners. ;-;
Sign of the times. Can't be helped at this moment. Fernand has always had the problem of being conservative, it's in his character. Besides, Mathilda makes a great exception.
I will admit, my inner romantic is celebrating the Berkut and Rinea conversation, which explains why they are dancing in their first appearance in the main story.
And knowing Mycen is from Rigel really implies something. It's never clarified, but I'm sure Mycen had an illegitimate daughter that became the queen and Rudolf was aware of it. It's the only explanation I can think of why Rudolf gave him such a vital duty, which cramps me even more.
SuperNess77 everybody is so sure of the similarities, so I don’t think it was just because of him being a very diligent student but because of inheritance.
Knowing that Walhart is the descendant of him and Alm gives me a bittersweet feeling. Its cool that Alm’s bloodline persisted into the time shortly before Grima’s Awakening, but knowing that it ends with Chrom sticking Falchion through his gut and ending the heritage is kind of sad. At least the bloodline continues with Morgan in one of the dozens of timelines I suppose.
Jakkun if only he stayed that way... oh btw mathilda still better, i mean objectively she has more renown, more talent, as much as composure than clive, etc the only thing clivr has that mathilda has not is a perfect soulmate
Really? Clive seems pretty perfect for Mathilda, not all that many men in the fire emblem world would be so happy/comfortable with having a wife who is more powerful than them in every way.
True however what saddens me, it is how mathilda will silence herself and her career to not outshine clive (character ending) and how clive is complexed by mathilda prowess despite loving her.
Is he complexed? I didn't get that impression, unless you mean when he noted it was up to him to improve if he fell too far behind. Most of what he says about her abilities is how much he loves those things about her. I would have agreed about Mathilda retiring except that another line in that ending indicates she only retired "officially". That is its noted she was rarely seen in Clive's public appearances, leading to the text saying its believed she was still supporting Clive's knight work behind the scenes. I like to imagine she would basically shadow him on missions as a secret weapon if he ever got in over his head. Given he dies fighting pirates if Mathilda dies but survives if he doesn't one may assume she was there to help him with the pirates. She didn't ever care much for fame or social events, so such a life would really suit her. Secret Service-style bodyguard Mathilda anyone?
for how he is complexed, it is shown before mathilda is saved where he literraly say "i do not deserve her", and you do what you want with headcannon as long as you don't impose them over cannon.(even if it is a nice headcannon).
I have to admit, I really like Berkut and Rinea's Memory Prism. It certainly paints a picture different from how he normally acts Instead of being all prideful and arrogant, he shows a much kinder side that is... Well, somewhat unanticipated in a man like him.
rOvertJustice yes I am glad people got that, I laughed rather hard upon hearing that phrase from Clair and then Fernand's reaction by burying Clive in a very deep hole.
ABSOLUTELY no idea why Three Houses didn't include these for the timeskip. It practically writes itself, allowing you to see how everyone's been during the five years you were away. Really, REALLY hope these are used again someday.
25:09 And so it begins, the best character interaction (at least one of them) I've heard in the entire game. Damn those DLC conversations really expand on Fernand's character. He's probably one of my favorite characters in the game at this point, he deserved so much more the poor thing.
Man I hope that the people behind the localization of Echoes are brought back for future Fire Emblem games. This is just as good (if not better) than Awakening, and WAAAAY better than Fates.
Doctor4077 Yep, the localizers at 8-4 and Cup of Tea clearly cared, unlike the team behind Fates, especially the voice department under Kris Zimmerman-Salter, and the localization team behind Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE, who just didn't care to dub the game just because it's set in Japan, despite that the Persona series, which is similar to TMS, had been dubbed into English.
@@TMX1138 to give SOME credit to TMS, they actually brought in the seiyuus to re-record some lines for the localized script. They could’ve just localized the text and call it a day since most people playing it won’t understand Japanese, but no. They wanted it to be authentic as possible to Japanese idol and fashion culture.
Rise of the Deliverance spoils below Fernand's family was killed by villagers since they blamed nobles like himself. Because of this, he accused every commoner of being savage mongrels.
When Fernand died, I was just sitting there going "...Guys, you've got revival springs and you conveniently forget them _now?"_ So now I just have a headcanon that after Berkut and/or Duma's asses are pulverized, they haul Fernand to one of those springs and bring him back.
@@DeltaSilver88 I know this is late, but Revival Springs basically function like the Aum Staff of Archanea and the Valkyrie Staff of Jugdral. They don't just revive anyone. They only revive those that aren't supposed to die yet. The biggest hint to know if a character is supposed to die, is that if they died in a cutscene.
Sure Fernand had that typical sexism from nobility, but he was such an admirable character... that just makes his fall all the more tragic. Mycen was the only person that could look Rudolf in the eye and say “You’re throwing away your kid? Have you lost your mind?!” I think that’s what Rudolf liked about him, that his position as emperor didn’t scare him. Zeke meeting Tatianna makes his plight in the beginning of the Rigelian invasion much more understandable, it explains why they love each other so much. Zeke/Camus became one of my favorite characters from FE due to his sense of honor and sympathetic nature.
No the reason Rudolf trusted Mycen was because they're childhood friends they're like brothers its why Mycen said he loved Rudolf they are very close to one another. and there is no other Rudolf could trust than Mycen, not to mention Mycen could protect and train Alm while hes growing up so he could become to Hero and save all of valentia and slay his father Rudolf... sadly idk why Rudolf didnt just keep his son and hide his left hand with a glove or something but w/e.
@@masterxitra Rudolf just wanted Alm to be as safe as possible. And with the Duma Faithful so close to the throne, it wouldn't have been possible: They would've found out sooner or later if he stayed in Rigel with his father.
i still kinda wish we got a memory prism that explained some of Faye’s obsession with Alm I know Echoes didn’t really care about certain specific villagers but still please
I think that at first she had a child crush on Alm (even if in the prologue she alredy know that he will probebly end with Celica) but then Slayde almost killed her and Alm save her this event traumatised her and changed her innocent crush into a unhealthy obsession, years later she followed the other into the Deliverance because she didn't wanted to stay alone (or she can be recruited by Celica) and her trauma was incrased by the war and knowing that she did for Alm was a way to find confort and it incrased her obsession for Alm.
We lost out on in depth supports (and I'm not talking about the waifu part just the so many support convos between most characters) so it's cool to get this kind of character story to kinda make up for it
@@DeltaSilver88 I definitely think that as well, though I also find myself thinking that Deen is Lon’qu’s ancestor or past life or something. They’re incredibly similar in hair-type, personality, backstory, skills and role. I also think Saber is probably Gregor’s ancestor; they’ve both got the Tanky Mercenary thing going on. Kamui is probably Say’ri and Yen’fay’s ancestor too.
It's interesting to see how different some of the Deliverance members were in the past. Fernand's the most obvious case, but you can also see how much Clair's grown up since joining the Knights of Zofia, as she points out in her A support with Mathilda.
Human Duma looks so cool, I like him because it's the first male divine dragon we get to see in the series, also does he have the same voice than the narrator?
I feel like after the fighting they finally realized that they where going nowhere fast, so Mila tried to talk to him. It appears to have worked much better then a fighting
Man I love the representation of the gods in this. They’re both good people but are too extreme with their world view.. Mila wants to bring eternal happiness to her people by giving them everything they need, but by doing this she ends up leading to a nation unprepared for anything and with rulers who overindulge with the gift Mila gave them. On the other hand Duma gave his people nothing but martial skills. Everything they’ve achieved was done through war and hardship. It is true that you are at your happiest after going through hardship, but in a world surrounded by hardship there will be those who never see the joy of life. Such a great game with incredible writing.
This concept would've carried over into three houses *so easily* with Sothis' time shenanigans and all, as like visions or dreams of the past, akin to the one Byleth has at the beginning of the game, but they just didn't carry it over. I want memory prisms of Byleth being the Ashen Demon to establish his prior experience, Jeralt and Alois sharing a drink so we can learn more of their old relationship, Ashe getting caught stealing from Lord Lonato so that we can see more of their relationship, and so on
I love the concept of memory prisms, they add a lot of backstory without interfering the main storyline. It's something that could've saved Fates and Awakening, and I think it's something that every FE game should have, though it should have different twists to each game. I kind of wish there were more for characters on Celica's path, as most of these prisms are more for characters on Alm's path such as Clive and Fernand. There could've been one featuring Boey and Mae, and it would be a scene where they were training. Or maybe one featuring Sonya and her sisters, because that could've added more to her character. Overall, I loved how Echoes handled backstory, and I hope that 3H does the same (I haven't played it yet, I'm saving up for a switch.)
Then on that front with 3H having stuff like menory prisms, I'll have to be sorry to disappoint you, but they aren't in the game and there are no signs of them ever getting in via DLC. Though the game has more supports and a library for lore. Take it as you will.
Adulation: obsequious flattery; excessive admiration or praise. Synonyms: hero worship, worship, idolization, adoration, admiration, veneration, awe, devotion, glorification, praise, flattery, blandishments Meaning, that they admire Mathilda a lot for what she's done and who she is.
My thoughts: 1. When I first saw Duma as a human, I thought "DAMN. FUCKIN BEEFY" then I heard his voice and thought "What a fuckin nerd." 2. Sorry Nyna, looks like Camus fell for Tatiana. Don't take it too Siriusly though. 3. AWWHH SMOL CONRAD. 4. Fernand was such a great character, I wish things were different so he would be on our side. 5. Rinea and Berkut honestly break my heart. I hated Berkut at first, but now I can't help it but be sad for the two. I wish there was a game to change their story and have them find true happiness, he didn't deserve this ending. 6. Of course Jesse would save Silque. He was smooth till his dumbass gets captured. 7. How did Mycen and Rudolf know each other in the first place? 8. Sucks to suck Celica. 9. Great, now there's gonna be multiple ForsythxPython. 10. Fuck Desaix and his fatass. 11.CLAIR IS A SAVAGE.
Jared Woo Mycen was a former Rigelian I believe, then moved to the south and became a high ranking soldier. He was a close and trusted friend of Rudolf as why Rudolf left Alm with Mycen.
I know that Mila is lovely and all, but honestly, Duma did his job better at shaping and helping mankind. Even after he degenerated, with the exception of the Duma faithful, his people were ready to take over for themselves, and without the interference of Mila sealing Falchion, both he and her would have been slayed and Rigel would have adapted, as well as Zofia under the new leadership of Rudolf. He was right to think that Mila's teachings would leave the people too soft to survive on their own. Celica and almost everyone else who follows her teachings wholeheartedly believes that without Mila's blessings, they're all going to starve to death.

Sure its been years since this game and even this video came out, but I realized something about Walhart from this. He isn't like Alm at all. Sure, they both believe in personal stregnth and defying destiny but their methods are completely different. DESAIX is exactly like Walhart, like Walhart he acknowledges the gods yet talks about how little he cares for them and how his own personal will is greater than any god's power. Walhart used extreme violence and cynicism to try and unite humanity, while Desaix used extreme force and cynicism to take over Zofia and try to build his own kingdom. They both had similar goals, and while Walhart acts like he is only a conduit for strength and humanity he is just as selfish and greedy as Desaix. Even when joining Chrom, he only ever did it because he wanted to walk the path of conquest and intended to use his own strength to achieve his goals regardless. Essentially, Walhart dreams of being Alm. He dreams of killing gods and becoming a legendary hero to unite his world, but in the end he just becomes a Desaix. A manipulative (and manipulated) tertiary villain who just serves as a challenge to the actual hero on their way to kill gods and unite their world. As bright as Desaix was, not even he could see the actual battle going on around him. Walhart knew what was going on, but his lack of strategy and willingness to just push through his challenges left him as a tool of the grimeal. I don't know, I just think that intentionally or not - echoes has further developed Awakening's lackluster story.
You know, even though Gaiden has one of the shortest and simplest stories, and is overall a short game, it contains probably the biggest plot twist in all of Fire Emblem.
Can we just appreciate how much of a bro Fernand was, not attempting to make a move on Mathilda? Girl just asked him to accompany her, and Fernand just goes "sure, all three of us can go"

Why doesn't Rudof look like he is young and youthful? He is 50 in the game, Alm is 17, so he should be 33 years old. Mycen also should also look much younger, with some patches of grey hear and there. I am so lost, has science betried me?
One minor thing I have. Given the geography of the world, since Camus was defeated in Grust, if he washed up in Rigel, his comatose body would’ve been washed through the waves until he reached the eastern shores of Rigel, which, in proximity to Grust, was northwest. The only way I could see this making sense is if his body ended up on a boat, he was already amnesiac, crew sailed around Rigel, shipwrecked, and he ended up in the beach where Tatiana found him.

Fernand: *sigh* It certainly does. You just described your brother.
I just about died. These memory prisms and DLC chapters have beyond redeemed Fernand as a likable character in my eyes. Makes re-watching the main storyline even more heartbreaking.
FE 4 flashbacks
*sweet home alabama*
28:21 He tried Clair, he tried...
Damn why you gotta be like that lol
omfg I swear fernand had the biggest personality change in all of fire emblem history, the memory prisms are amazing with how characters acted before everything went to hell
Yeah. One of the generic Deliverance soldiers in the hideout says that he didn’t always hate commoners; he only went bad when they killed his family.
@@jwil4286 then Rise of the Deliverance 4 happened, and the wedge was driven deeper. And Alm becoming the new leader was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
But at least, he was finally unblinded in his final moments.
Dang Berkut and Rinea was sweet, and is now bittersweet in hindsight.
I mean if it wasn't for Berkut's lust, Rinea would not have been even hotter... :3
Berkut deserved better... :'(
@@madamebkrt yeah. it's a shame you couldn't recruit him (I think there was data for him to be a playable character, so maybe that was considered?)
What Rudolf? What Rinea? What Berkut? Fernand was the true victim of Fire Emblem Echoes.
Yeah, it was nice for these maps to give some new context on him.
ONE MORE COMMONER REJECTED
BrokenMoonStudios This is why I also hate people who hold resentment for both Fernand and Berkut because you need only pay attention to the story and then the DLC prisms for the story on how Fernand was and how he changed when his family was slaughtered by the people he was meant to protect, the peasants.
Imagine how much we would be crying if there was a Memory Prism that had Fernand finding his dead siblings and he cradled their bodies and screamed in anguish, having lost his family to the commoners. ;-;
Fernand: Clair will soon learn that women should be demure, and leave the kingdom to us men
Comments:AWWW CINNAMON ROLL
Sign of the times. Can't be helped at this moment. Fernand has always had the problem of being conservative, it's in his character.
Besides, Mathilda makes a great exception.
I will admit, my inner romantic is celebrating the Berkut and Rinea conversation, which explains why they are dancing in their first appearance in the main story.
GODDAMNIT I LOVE YOU FERNAND AAAAAAA
WHY MUST HE BE SO PRECIOUS?
Rudolf and Mycen... Critical Hit to the feels
And knowing Mycen is from Rigel really implies something. It's never clarified, but I'm sure Mycen had an illegitimate daughter that became the queen and Rudolf was aware of it. It's the only explanation I can think of why Rudolf gave him such a vital duty, which cramps me even more.
@@lucinae8512 so you're basically thinking that Mycen is really Alm's grandfather ?
SuperNess77 everybody is so sure of the similarities, so I don’t think it was just because of him being a very diligent student but because of inheritance.
Knowing that Walhart is the descendant of him and Alm gives me a bittersweet feeling. Its cool that Alm’s bloodline persisted into the time shortly before Grima’s Awakening, but knowing that it ends with Chrom sticking Falchion through his gut and ending the heritage is kind of sad. At least the bloodline continues with Morgan in one of the dozens of timelines I suppose.
Love the memory prisms, they give so much story to the characters involved in them, especially the Berkut and Rinea one
I love echoes
At 28:59, Clive failed to mention the hand gestures involved with the whispering.
The number of likes this comment has makes this all the better.
I'm WHEEZING
"you don't suppose you'll find a soulmate on the battlefield?"
"I have no fondness for barabaric men"
*HMMM*
Young Clive is precious and deserves Mathilda.
And lol, Fernand likes his women THICC XD. It hurts to repeat the meme yet it's so fitting.
A man after my own heart
it hurts to read this
rOvertJustice yes I am glad people got that, I laughed rather hard upon hearing that phrase from Clair and then Fernand's reaction by burying Clive in a very deep hole.
ABSOLUTELY no idea why Three Houses didn't include these for the timeskip. It practically writes itself, allowing you to see how everyone's been during the five years you were away.
Really, REALLY hope these are used again someday.
i can't stop crying over fernand AAAAAAAAAA like damn he was really nice back before everything went to shit
25:09 And so it begins, the best character interaction (at least one of them) I've heard in the entire game.
Damn those DLC conversations really expand on Fernand's character. He's probably one of my favorite characters in the game at this point, he deserved so much more the poor thing.
StickFigure a
The entire plot of him is well written.
Awww... Conrad is adorable!
For you yes
@@TMX1138 to give SOME credit to TMS, they actually brought in the seiyuus to re-record some lines for the localized script. They could’ve just localized the text and call it a day since most people playing it won’t understand Japanese, but no. They wanted it to be authentic as possible to Japanese idol and fashion culture.
@@paperluigi6132 No, they were just lazy. Love Live the anime had an English dub despite being idol based.
This legit makes me depressed about Fernand's death. Also why the fuck would he betray them after seeing all of this. FEELS
That kinda explains in the Rise of the Deliverance DLC map 4.
Rise of the Deliverance spoils below
Fernand's family was killed by villagers since they blamed nobles like himself. Because of this, he accused every commoner of being savage mongrels.
When Fernand died, I was just sitting there going "...Guys, you've got revival springs and you conveniently forget them _now?"_
So now I just have a headcanon that after Berkut and/or Duma's asses are pulverized, they haul Fernand to one of those springs and bring him back.
Fernand foreshadowed Gray lol.
@@roguegirl29 and, like he said in the memory, Mycen was the only person Rudolf could entrust with his son.
Me and Fernand have the same taste in women, "Nice and Juicy".
Everyone else talking bout Clive or whatever and I’m here loving the rudolf and mycen one
Holy crap I just realized that Zeke is actually Camus!
0mNam really?
And he reappears in the Mystery of Emblem game as well under the Sirius identity
Do you mean Eldigan...or Ezekiel or Xander?
@@starbites1984 different people, same archetype.
@@starbites1984 yep, these are different peoples of the same archetype, Zeke and Camus, on the other hand, are literally the same person.
i still kinda wish we got a memory prism that explained some of Faye’s obsession with Alm
I know Echoes didn’t really care about certain specific villagers but still please
We lost out on in depth supports (and I'm not talking about the waifu part just the so many support convos between most characters) so it's cool to get this kind of character story to kinda make up for it
"Now walk, mule! Whippish! Walk!" i love forsyth and python sm.....
27:27 Tell that to Lachesis and Clarine lol XD

When watching the silque and Jesse prism for some reason I had the dumb idea that Jesse is Virion's ancestor.
J hart mabye he did create a kingdom for mercenary’s if he lives
I always figured Kamui was the ancestor of the Chon'sin (Lon'qu's people), so Jesse being Virion's isn't that far-fetched.
Kamui is probably Say’ri and Yen’fay’s ancestor too.
rudolf sounds like he’s about to tell us what all true warriors strive for at 9:08

I swear I keep having to say this, and I'll say it again...
Berkut deserved better :'(
It's interesting to see how different some of the Deliverance members were in the past. Fernand's the most obvious case, but you can also see how much Clair's grown up since joining the Knights of Zofia, as she points out in her A support with Mathilda.
Cool! Young Clive and Mathilda.
So we really just won't talk about Mila and Duma's convo.
Berkut and Rinea deserved better ;-;
Yes... :'(
Gosh, these are so good. I hope all future FE games have extra conversations like this, to flesh out the world and the backstory.
I truly loved Mycen......raising his friend's son as his own along with the princess and always doing his best to take care of both.
Human Duma looks so cool, I like him because it's the first male divine dragon we get to see in the series, also does he have the same voice than the narrator?
He does
Well technically Gotoh and Xane are divine dragons, they just lost/cast aside the ability to transform (to dragons at least).
Oh my god, little Clive looks like such a precious dweeb
conrad and celica are cute af omg
Was that little argument that Mila and Duma had was the fight that went on for an age?
It was probably a conversation they had many times, but yeah hardly would call that fighting "bitterly for an age" lol
I want memory prisms of Byleth being the Ashen Demon to establish his prior experience, Jeralt and Alois sharing a drink so we can learn more of their old relationship, Ashe getting caught stealing from Lord Lonato so that we can see more of their relationship, and so on
Noone's gonna talk about how much of a gut punch Camus muttering "Nyna..." was?
To be fair, one of those memory prisms would’ve involved the experiments on the Hresvelg children.
No one commented yet?! Uh...uh...

I'm in love with Fernand help
Fernand is being friendly it scares me
I love everything about Jesse and Silque’s memory prism
Fernands death became 10x more sad after seeing these
My thoughts:
1. When I first saw Duma as a human, I thought "DAMN. FUCKIN BEEFY" then I heard his voice and thought "What a fuckin nerd."
I love all this backstory and exposition.
they have full voice acted dialogues now? cool

I freaking love Duma and milla it's a perfect relationship it's just one of the most realistic siblings relationships in video games
haha i love these new memory prisms

Even Tatiana is sick of the amnesia device that FE games pull.
You know, even though Gaiden has one of the shortest and simplest stories, and is overall a short game, it contains probably the biggest plot twist in all of Fire Emblem.

The Clive and Mathilda one at the end made me feel warm and fuzzy... It's so cute to see the younger versions of them together. I'm such a sap XD

Pack 5 has new characters as well. With dialogue and supports so.
Why doesn't Rudof look like he is young and youthful? He is 50 in the game, Alm is 17, so he should be 33 years old. Mycen also should also look much younger, with some patches of grey hear and there. I am so lost, has science betried me?
Lazy designers. Apparently they remembered giving Clive and Mathilda some younger designs yet didn't do the same for Rudolf and Mycen.
It could be the stress of fighting for so long
Mycen is stated to actually be 65 in-game during the events of SoV.
God I love young Clive
