The Scenes with Alec Guiness, counting, around 30 Shots.... For me the best part on Raise Titanic 1980! Great movie score too. Thank you Alec and John (Barry)...
I remember I would rent this move all the time - at least every few weeks - growing up. The entire movie is burned in my mind. I was so obsessed with Titanic growing up - this and the National Geographic documentary about the discovery.
Sir Alec brings a touch of class to any film. According to trivia, they were going to shoot in another pub but the place burned down just prior to filming
Bender IsGreat: Funny thing about Sir Alec Guinness's part in this movie. He plays a surviving crewmember from the Titanic. However, in real life he would have never been either a crewmember or passenger on the doomed ship. The reason being is that he wouldn't have been alive yet when the Titanic sank in 1912. Sir Alec was born two years later in 1914. How very funny!!!!!
@@captainAlex258 Amen….he did a great job of portraying someone who has memories of yesterday that he hold dear. If I was given the opportunity to put the house flag of the White Star Line back on the Titanic it would definitely move me to tears…..what an honor!!!!!
@@anthonylowder6687 indeed which is why I'm implementing this in my book "raise the yorktown" where the old man removes a 46 star amarican flag off a wall telling the retired navy commander now oceanographer the same thing like in the video but he tears up
damn if the film had shot of Alec watching the TV in the bar seeing a news report showing the Titanic raised and a close up of the pennant . . . tear in his eye - Would have been epic!
You can tell he put more into this then he did into star wars. I though he was going to cry at the end after handing the flag over.... Thats good acting. In the book this guy is based on real person who rode the ship down.
The Sloop Inn in St Ives. I doubt any of the tourists who visit it today have any idea Sir Alec Guinness filmed this scene in there. Not changed much. I was there last week
@@michaellomeli8096No none at all which is a real pity. I don't even know if the current landlords are aware that it appeared in the movie. Next time I'm down there I'll be sure to show them this clip!
As if a pub in Cornwall would have a pennant from the Titanic on the wall. Even back then it would have been worth a lot of money. It would've been stolen.
While I love the scene, it is incredibly inaccurate. The man speaks of taking the flag down. First of all, flags were not flown during the night. They were all removed by crew at sunset so the ship would have had no flag to take down during the sinking. Also the White Star ensign in the movie was flown from the main mast about halfway up and not on the stern as suggested in the movie.
The mark of a great actor, they bring soul to the Scene, Rip Sir Alec.
yep
Emotional scene with great theme by sir john barry
it sure is a great theme and a emotional scene just bites ur heart strings
My late father's childhood friend John was never knighted ever.
Brought a tear to my eye by the end. Damn.
Alec Guinness elevates any movie to watchable. The book is great. The film is a guilty pleasure.
Yes!

Obi-Wan really went to great lengths to slip under the empire's radar.
Beautiful memorable scene and music from Uncle John
'Uncle John' I don't recognise you at all .

Indeed, Sir Alec brought gravitas to any small part he played in his later years.
every time I see this scene it bites my heart putting so much emotion to it
one of most heartbreaking moments in a great movie.
it sure is

Would be nice dimension... As Alec put the famous words in this movie: We all end up in a single bed, sooner or later...
sir alec had a level of acting which I enjoyed watching in many movies

Cornwall is only my favorite city in UK, recently.
Cornwall is a county.

1 of a kind. She was the middle sister of her class and only the Britannic was not able to be a ocean liner
Alec Guinness was one of a kind.

And that was exactly what Dirk Pitt did. He honored the request and put it back
the film is missing more such emotional scenes. I wonder why nearly all regisseurs before Cameron totally missed the emotional core of the theme.
my book raise the yorktown will add more emotion
He said Titanic was one of a kind. He clearly forgot the Olympic.
Tom8201: True, both the Titanic &Olympic were identical sister ships. They both had the same height, width, length, and speed.
@@herondelatorre4023 As did the ill-fated Brittanic.
@@HerrEllsworth Yes, you're right. Thanks for the info.
And the Britannic.
He probably had been in the 1st stage of dementia because of cause he’s old
Alec sounds like Captain Pugwash !
St Ives Cornwall looks a bit windy
In a deleted scene of this movie, we see the flag was probably still hanging when the titanic snaked.
One of a Kind? What about the Olympic?
what about yorktown?
@captainAlex258 The RMS Olympic was Titianic's nearly identical sister ship.
@@austindreyer2930 I knew that
