Absolute master, this man has probably forgotten more than most of the so called plasterer’s these days , think because they can skim flat plasterboard makes them a plasterer
Watched alot of crap on these UA-cam videos as in so called plasterers, trust me this man knows what he's doing.. Old school tradesman... Total respect
No more floaters coming through we are.a dying breed.the kids just are skimmers not plasterers .everything this man is doing is absolutely correct and he's fuckin good.
some so called plasterers these days , have know idea of the purpose or know how to use a rule .. everyone watching this is seeing a real plasterer ...
I followed two guys who'd dot and dabbed a house a couple of years ago. Fine - until they came to a fireplace that had been taken out and not enough depth for dot and dab. They tried roughing it out with bonding coat. Even though they had the corner beads to work to, on the chimmney breast, they couldn't get it straight to save their bloody lives. The old skill is just about dead now. In Australia, there's no skim even - it's all tape and joint. Alterations to existing walls etc., are a bloody nightmare.
Christ this video takes me back to collage. Float and set good old H-section you just can't go wrong. Devil float at the end a dream to skim over. He mixed up with a bath & shovel that's the traditional way. No drills allowed
This takes me back aswell mate I was knocking up bags of Browning in a mixing bath with a shovel when I was an apprentice the guy I worked with was an old school plasterer I was very lucky to have being his apprentice mind you the fucker use to clip me round the back of the head when I pissed about
Float and skim Right to left Traditional way to plaster Stop slagging the man He’s a real spread , Stick to your crap dab and skim . And your three day course!
I was taught to start the box screed from the right aswell when I was an apprentice I still don't know why to this day I tried starting from the left once then the plasterer I was working with clipped me round the back of the head lol
@@Lemon-squeezer it's because ... like working from top to bottom - you're spreading and finishing the stroke up to he gear you've just put on. That stops it dropping off the wall at the end of the pass, and - it helps keep the depth constant. More important when roughing out and rendering, but once you're in the habit, that's the way you do it, automatically.
Fare play he's not young but he knows it well great job wish I could plaster that well I'm.trying to get on a course atm I'm a qualified brickie see but always fancied plastering
@@Shaun93301 thanks mate I only bricklay hobble atm but may go back to it perm at some point I got steady income in mean time doing something else in the dry lol
sadly that would just be dot and dabbed these days and skimmed.. this guy really is a master but it just wouldnt be done like this anymore.. you gotta move with the times and like i said it is sad... it used to be a case you couldnt even think about skimming until you could float like this.. times have changed so much!
Not every wall in every new build is a plasterboard wall. Look exterior rendering. Same process but with sand and cement. Also lots of old buildings that are listed will not allow plasterboard to be dot and dabbed internally so old rendering is required as i said same process. Also internal walls that require a hard wearing finish will also require ‘tough coat’ plaster . Again same process.
Wet plastering is still a huge industry, it's not done to keep spreads in work ,it's done because it's hard waring and quick.machine plastering is still used a lot on the continent
Professor Kaos it’s called a feather edge here in the UK! Great tool. www.emisupply.com/catalog/kraft-tools-pc004-magnesium-featheredge-p-30938.html?KRT-PC004&gclid=CjwKCAjw14rbBRB3EiwAKeoG_4fiIjLcwaGiELw0cu5GrEl8TLBpabZQEJ3_4ft7K5mG9zbRTSJAixoCYyQQAvD_BwE#.W2PPzBYpCEc
