I guess the splitted driver pins are measures against bumping and pick guns; like the balls in a Newton's cradle, only the outermost half would jump when the stack is bumped but the other half could keep the lock closed.

@@locklab101 Makes a nice change from watching hobbyists stabbing away blindly at a fat thumbs wide keyway (CC and BB excepted of course) with a purple crowbar pick..... you say it how you see it and THAT is extraordinarily refreshing mate!

Hi Brian, extremely thorough explanation, photographing, and disassembly of those three locks. Although we don't see these particular locks Downunder, I'm sure anyone watching your video/videos would appreciate the effort you put into them. Not sure about the two sets of "master pins" however the "nail" in the spring would have to be - as you said - surely an anti bump feature. I have also seen this set up with the "nail" to prevent a comb attack in locks that were, at one stage, vulnerable to over lifting. Thanks for showing.

Another fascinating video to watch. Nice to see they upgraded their locks in order. I think it's the Yale Superior that there's almost no difference between the 1* and 2*. in fact I think it's just 1 security pin.
Really interesting to see that nail type pin, I would go for anti bump. You will now start to see challenge locks with that feature appearing on the circuit of lock picking channels.
Cheers for this video, very fascinating. Appreciate all the effort you have put into it, must have taken quite a while including all the editing.
    🙂👍

Great video, very thorough as usual. I’ve found the ERA standard is very susceptible to zipping with a snake pick to get a false set with usually only one pin left to pick, and even more susceptible to bumping.
Can you use a Lishi style pick on the one star ?

@@locklab101 same here, glad I’m not the only one that can’t use the Lishi on ERA 1*. The cylinder plug seems to be jutting out from the cylinder a fraction, which may explain why I can’t get to the 6th pin with the Lishi.
