- In celebration of her new album release on 18 September 2020, Simone Dinnerstein plays Philip Glass's Etude No.6. This performance was captured at National Sawdust in Brooklyn in January 2020, courtesy of All Arts
Certainly one of my favorite glass pieces. Beautiful playing, great musicality!
I revisit this performance every few months and listen to it two or three times back to back. It leaves me mesmerized to the core and filled with an incredible sense of joy and sorrow.
Ms. Dinnerstein - I heard you today on WQRX for their anniversary program this afternoon. As you played Philip Glass's Etude No. 6, I sat transfixed nearly overwhelmed with awe at your extraordinary playing that sent a tsunami of thrilling emotions. I never understood Philip Glass's music until you sat down at the keyboard. Thank you for your stupendous, marvelous playing and for providing on the most exciting musical experiences I've had in a long, long time. Thank you, thank you!!!!!
Absolutely phenomenal!
wonderful how Simone Dinnerstein makes the notes spring , her phrasing is also delicious .♥
Imposible not to love this master piece!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely nailed the stagger. Love it !!!
One of my favourite interpretations of these excellent etude
Thank you!
Her playing is incredible to watch. How is it possible to do that?
Perfect practice.
Simply marvelous... the music and the performance.
Still stunned: happy bday Glass!
Gorgeous melody and the playing is beyond comprehension. Goosebump time.
I think she’s got IT. She “thumps” perfectly the chords.
Beautiful song and incredible pianist 👍
I love it!
Fantastic!
Intensive, colourful intonation. Forte Expressivo. Great performance.
P.S. and Thank you, Philip Glass.
WOW!
Wow.
lovely
Sublime!
Interesting finger motion on the right , played beautifully!
Os dedos dançam ❤️
Я плачу от этой вещи. Всегда. Такая печаль человека.
Girl: yr the feminine Horowitz: light & fluttery, mariposa: we’ve been waiting....
It would have been really interesting to hear someone with such a distinct, sophisticated and rigorous style as Horowitz duet someone with such a beautiful, flowery and zesty style such as Dinnerstein! Both such brilliant expressiveness, but so different in interpretations. It would truly be unique.
Will the new release be an all Glass recording?
@Brian Donohue Thanks for the response!
Interesting - the fast pearly notes remind me of this delightful Bach arrangement:

And now you also have another feminine reference with Yuja Wang, although her way of playing can be virile and feminine at the same time.
женщине тут не место я так считаю. исключение арфистка.
It is a pity that an Austrian Bösendorfer grand piano has to forfeit its reputation for this rather jerky recording. The grand piano vibrates wildly and undamped at 1:04 min. The pianist has various problems with the complex rhythm of the piece. I recommend Paul Barton on an Austrian Feurich 218 grand piano (ua-cam.com/video/FdlNBggsJVY/v-deo.html) or, if necessary, Víkingur Ólafsson, unfortunately only available on a Steinway & sons grand piano (ua-cam.com/video/sZffgf4GoMQ/v-deo.html).
is it mandatory to find this total nonsense "good"? Just because it's Glass? I'm afraid that Glass is only liked by people who assume "it's modern, of this time..." so it IS good. What a fallacy, what nonsense I am hearing here.
