    Thank you so much! You have one of the MOST helpful minecraft resource pack tutorials that I have found! One thing that I suggest next, is how to change item's textures based on being stacked.

      Thank you man! I appreciate it, also thanks for the suggestion! If you check out episode 7 it will show you how to add this in via optifine! Not sure if it can be done in vanilla with item models however my models series is coming soon so it will be touched on then if it is possible!

    you can also add "interpolate:true" to your .properties file to make the animation more smooth (depends on your animation, might look pretty good)

    Aseguraos de NO usar la carpeta "mcpatcher", tenéis que llamarla "optifine"
    Y tambien de que en el propio resource/texturepack tiene que estar la textura vanilla. Es decir, si quereis animar la pechera como hace él, tenéis que poner la textura vanilla "diamond_layer_1" en su respectiva ruta "textures/models/armor....
    O como en mi caso, quiero animar la elytra y no funcionaba hasta que he colocado la textura vanilla de la elytra en su respectiva ruta "textures/entity" por supuesto, aparte de hacer el .properties y el nuevo png en la carpeta de optifine
    Make sure you do NOT use the "mcpatcher" folder, you have to name it "optifine"
    And also that the vanilla texture has to be in the resource/texturepack itself. That is, if you want to animate the chestplate as he does, you have to put the vanilla texture "diamond_layer_1" in its respective route "textures/models/armor....
    Or as in my case, I want to animate the elytra and it didn't work until I placed the vanilla texture of the elytra in its respective path "textures/entity" of course, apart from making the .properties and the new png in the optifine folder

    I'll be trying to figure out how the demo you made works, but I've tried to animate the black box in your inventory(where the player is shown) with a bunch of stars, and it doesn't work, not that it doesn't work the way i wanted it to, no it doesn't work at all

    I cant seem to get the Villager Blink to work , I've even made it exactly to your script and changed my image file's name to "villagerblink" but it doesnt work , do I need to configure somthing in the Settings or am I just a nub ?

    Really cool video and some nice textures. I wondered if you are still into Resource Pack making and that suff, because since 1.14 i have a lot of trouble with some more complicated things, like the ones you explain in your videos. For example ctm, random mobs, anim and colormaps are broken, even with the latest optifine. Is the mcpatcher folder still a thing?

      well the mcpacher folder isn't a thing if you have optifine ofc, in that case you should use the optifine

    Hey, Thanks for all your hard work! It's really useful to Pack makers
    and beyond,
    Though I am left with a question You might be able to answer.
    Using the above method I have managed to animate various things,
    but I seem to be having trouble with Blocks (to=textures blocks/glowstone.png) and items (to=textures/items.diamond_axe.png) textures using this method,
    but changing the very same properties file to animate something different (to=textures/gui/container/creative_inventory/tab_inventory.png) seems to work properly.
    I was wondering it is just was not possible through this way or if there was something I was missing.

      Good question man. Unfortunately I don't think that animating blocks is possible using this method. However there is a method which doesn't require Optifine and it allows you to animate blocks and items! I actually have a video on that method which is Episode 4 in my resource pack series if you want to check that out. Sorry to break the news and hopefully you can find some success!

      Hey, It's me again. I'm having lots of fun making a pack, with the help of all your videos and its really helped me out quite a bit ^.^
      As I was hoping I would not I've run into another issue you might know the answer too, I am animating various mobs to blink to make it feel more alive and with much success as well, But I've run into a speed bump. (to=textures/entity/horse/mule.png, x=3, y=8, w=13, h=1) And the Mule and animate perfectly fine,
      but doing (to=textures/entity/horse/horse_black.png, x=3, y=8, w=13, h=1) And the all the other normal horses will not animate. (Zombie, Mule And Donkey are all fine) I was hoping you might could have an idea of whether or not It's that the normal horses can't animate, or if there is an error on my side. Thanks again for all your hard work!

      Good question, I am actually not 100% sure about this at the moment. I am planning on starting a series on custom models very soon which will hopefully allow me to answer that question. Stay tuned for those videos!

      I have seen that the more recent versions of optifine allow for this to happen, but as far as I can tell there are no tutorials on it yet, and the only things i can find out about it is that "its really hard to figure out" If you can make that happen then you will make a lot of people (including me) happy!

      On optifine's issue tracker, I saw spx post that while it is technically possible to assign custom models to armor, that feature hasn't been added into Optifine yet.

    im on windows 10 ver. 1.16.4 and it doesnt work?
    ive tried both "mcpatcher" and "optifine" labels, it wont let me save the properties files as .properties (forces me into .txt) and when i *do* save as .properties it just doesnt work.

    I'm going insane.
    There is this one resources pack (16*16) included in a map adventure. When i'm in the map, my (16*16) xp bar animation works , when i go on another world it does work but it's not at the right place because my resources pack is 32*32 . And when I redo everything and has it on the right size perfectly.. it doesn't work. WHY ? HOW ?
    (I said 16*16 and 32*32 because i'm too lazy to check the real size but one is smaller than the other)

    I don't understand why it works only in the 16*16 version and why on earth does it works with the map ressources pack ! there is nothing different from mine except the size

      try changing the resolution of the textures/gui/icons.png image. if ur rainbow_xp.png image size is 512x512 you need to change the icons.png to match that
      this worked for me on my higher res inventory hope this helps :)

      If you’re in 1.13 or above name the mcpatcher folder “optifine” instead

      si puedes amigo, no importan los nombre en las carpetas "cit, anim" pones cualquier nombre y funciona, literalmente en minecrfat no premium pude hacer que mi skin cambien cada cierto tiempo, puedes hacer animaciones RGB etc etc, tengo un texture pac privado que tiene todas las cosas divertidas (items grandes cuando estan en el suelo, encantamientos prot4=color azul prot3=color rojo, edite el lang para tener todo el menu de colores con nombres editados,algunas cosas en RGB,particulas interactivas, y mucho mas cosas) que puedas poner en minecraft 1.8.9, estoy muy enamorado de los texture packs

      Yes, I think so, but as I'm in vacation, I can't test this. I think you put it like, example:
      "tile.n=1
      duration.n=0.5
      tile.n=2
      duration.n=0.5
      tile.n=3
      duration.n=0.5
      etc"

      You need the older tutorial because vanilla can have it only with items and blocks

    how do i make the armor layer animation to show only when the armor has protection 4 (or any other enchantment)?

      Great question man! Actually to do this you are going to want to use a combination of CIT and this animation method. First step is to create your armour using the CIT armour method (I have a tutorial on that as well) and make sure that you set up your properties file using that method to have the armour only appear when you have prot. 4 for example. The next step would be to create your animation for the section of the armour that you want to animate using this tutorial. The final step is in the properties file for the animation under the to= parameter set it up to point to your CIT armour layer. EX: (to=mcpatcher/cit/demoarmour/demoarmour_layer1.png)
      Set up all of the x= y= w= h= the same as shown in the video and if it is all done correctly it should work out!
      Hopefully that all made sense and you can get it working! I think this would turn out to be a really cool effect on armour!

      Uncle Jam i couldnt make it to work for some reason and instead of showing the animation texture by frames it showed the whole texture of the frames at once.
      would you help me by telling me where to put every file for the texture?
      (i have the folder:
      mcpatcher/cit/armor
      and the folder:
      mcpatcher/anim)
      so where do i put every file for a chestplate for example

      If you are talking about custom skins, I'm sorry, But that is not possible.
      However, If you are talking about steve and alex skins, It works, Just do the same thing as the villager animation in the tutorial.

      try adding "interpolate=true" without the (") and right before "tile.0=0"
      should looke like this:
      x=#
      y=#
      w=#
      h=#
      interpolate=true
      tile.#=#

    Wasted all day trying to get this to work. Doesn’t work on new versions, even changing name to optifine. I’m on version 1.16. 😣😣😣
