  • Memorial service in Louisville, Kentucky for boxing legend Muhammad Ali. Funeral procession begins at 9 a.m. EST
Muhammad Ali and his innermost circle started a document years ago that grew so thick they began calling it "The Book."
In the pages, the boxing great planned in exacting detail how he wished to say goodbye to the world.
"The message that we'll be sending out is not our message - this was really designed by The Champ himself," said Timothy Gianotti, an Islamic studies scholar who for years helped to plan the services.
"The love and the reverence and the inclusivity that we're going to experience over the coming days is really a reflection of his message to the people of planet Earth."
The 74-year-old three-time heavyweight champion wanted the memorial service in an arena. He wanted multiple religions to have a voice while honoring the traditions of his Muslim faith. And he wanted ordinary fans to attend, not just VIPs.

I'm a Vietnam veteran, 70 years old, and proud to have lived in the lifetime of Ali. He was an inspiration to all people of all races and religions. I'm not embarrassed to say I cried after the Trevor Berbeck fight which Ali should never have taken. Not unlike the tears I'm shedding now watching this video. To a wonderful human being the world misses everyday.

Thank you for your service. I turned 18 tell 7-20-55. I was about 7years old when Ali beat Liston. Sports Iliastrated had Ali picture on front page.I was hooket from then one.I like the fact that you being a veteran and not turn against Ali.I cried when Holmes beat him. Why they finally gave him a licences to fight. Knowing he already had fbrain damage. People that know a lot about Ali say that in real life he was very humble. He joked around a lot. Great since of humor. Elvis Pressly said he was as nice of a man you could ever meet. It's very good to hear a veteran not hate the man. Refreshing. TC

@@darahdoyle3176 I'm not a fan of the dude, but Trump Derangement Syndrome will make you think he's the cause of all the problems. Instead, he built more bridges than any other president since practically WW2. As far as a wall, not every wall is a negative thing. That's why, although Biden repeatedly said 'we will not build a single foot on the wall', Biden is now spending billions building the wall because without a wall, any nation without one sustains a gigantic spike in physical and criminal violence (as we in the US have), a huge spike in economic destruction (one of many reasons the inflation disaster is going on right now), and several other destructive issues. So don't bash every wall...because sometimes you WANT to have a wall between a destructive force that will kill you and your precious life you wish to continue living.

And not about the performance of Billy, but about how the Jews are treating all their neighbors in 2022. Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Iran which is Bout 700 miles away from Israel. And my take about Israel is the following: before they landed there, every religions could live in peace with each other! It was not a mistake to call it the Riviera of the Arab world! And about Humility, dude, they are worst human beings among religious believers. Just like their big brother the USA all think that they are some kind of special. Yes it’s true that to. Special interest is their speciality. So, if I want to have visit, and experience friendly and human warmth, I defenetely not gonna visit Israel! I will go their next door neighbors, and any can show more Humility than the friendliest Jewish family can!!!

I found Muhammad on youtube a few years ago and the impact he had on me was something I'll never forget. I was terribly shy and lacked confidence to a point where everyone including my friends and parents were always commenting on it. I watched his videos probably for a couple of hours and I realized that he didn't believe he was the greatest because of his success in boxing, he had success in boxing because he believed he was to be the world champion. It didn't happen over night but ever since in every task I do I change my mindset to believe that I will be the world champion of this task. It's cheesy but it really works. I use it at my crappy retail job, school, sports, chores, everything. I even wear necklace to remind me whenever I feel like coasting. RIP Muhammad Ali, I'll never forget you and neither will the world.

And here comes this man jogging down the street and stopped to talk to my grandma. Apparently he knew my grandfather or something like that. I was in awe of this happy joyful man. He asked my name. I told him Dawn. He told me my name meant light of day. Then he told me to always be the light. I will always remember him as kind and loving to ALL people. No words to describe how great Ali was.
The best part of me living in Miami Beach was not the ocean. It was the fact that Muhammad spent a lot of time there, and he first became famous there when he beat Sonny Liston.
His morning road work was running from Overtown in Miami to Miami Beach, across the long bridge connecting the two cities. Every time I drove across that bridge, all I could think about was Ali.
When he passed away the world lost its most famous man.
As for Miami Beach, it was never the same after Muhammad. We adopted Ali and he became the biggest part of the city. Everything seems so empty without him.

Left at 3am for a long road trip. About 11am I lose my automobile wifi in the middle of nowhere so I start searching AM radio for anything to listen to, and I keep hearing interviews and commentary on Ali....they go to commercial announcing " we'll be back with more remembrances of Muhammad Ali and his passing today."
    I pulled off the freeway.
I was born in 66, and I was always seeing Ali on TV as a kid, with that smile, and his verbal sparring with Cossell. We stayed up late to watch his fights in Manila and Zaire. Before he passed I had entered a fundraising contest for his center in Louisville. I spent way more money than I should to get as many entries to the contest. Then I got extremely nervous thinking I might actually win, and they'll fly me out to Louisville and I'll break down when I meet him. Unfortunately I did not win, but I knew for sure this grown man would have crumbled if I was privileged to meet him in that circumstance.
