Hope you enjoy this video, which was recorded in January 2020, before the Corona virus.
Futuristic tutorial recorded in 2029! 😃 (Oops!) heheheh
Great video, hope you’re both getting lots of rest, sun and doing things that you enjoy. I finished the novel Arnes was reading by Tommy Orange, great read. Cheers to you both from Nova Scotia.
Another great video. I found myself waving bye to you guys at the end! LOL Until next time! Love you guys! Denise from Texas
I have just finished this pattern and am very happy with the finished product. Thank you Arne and Carlos!
I love this way -“Arne’s Way”-
Thank you. It is very logical, uncomplicated, and simple to understand as explained by you❤️❤️🙏❤️
Question: When you are not sitting at a table doing a tutorial, it would be nice to see how you are postitioned and organized for knitting. What is your posture? Where is the yarn so Freya doesn't get to it? My question is about the "ergonomics" of the whole process. We want to do this for many decades in comfort.
I have thought of that question as well! Right down to your chairs, and how you position all your yarn colors around you. It’s a bit different than sitting at a table. Great videos though!
In honor of you & your beautiful country I swirled red food coloring into my family's snowflake waffles for breakfast this morning.
I realize this has nothing to do with knitting, but I would love to see a your of your gardens in bloom! So happy you are feeling better!❤️🤗
I have a suggestion for the title of your blog when you return from your time away. "Arne & Carlos - Our Daily Thread"
Even though I’ve been knitting for decades, I appreciate these basic tutorials, because sometimes I just made up my own way to handle the details. I like Arne’s technique, and will use it now. 😊
😀❤️
Do you ever knit with slippery fibres? and how do you weave in those ends? Thanks so much for another great vid.
I would love to see Carlos’s way of weaving in ends too.
Good idea!
Thanks for showing us the Arne Method of weaving in ends. Really enjoyed this! Happy Norwegian Constitution Day! Today is my grandsons birthday who lives in Norway. He is excited that the entire country celebrates his birthday.😁
Dear Arne and Carlos thank you so much for your tips on weaving in the ends . I started watching your quarantine podcasts and I am now a big fan but I miss the unscripted everyday feeling that came across ,there was a strong feeling of being connected and it felt like I was getting to know the real Arne and Carlos , I hope you know what I mean and that do not mind me letting you know as you are both such lovely guys. I am wondering if anyone else feels like this also .Kind Regards Diane from Uk
Thank you for you feedback Diane!
Arne’s way is a great tip. I would be interested in seeing the moose that Freya alerts you to. Thanks
I think Freja needs a knitted Moose toy that she can attack. I am sure ARNE can design and knit in a day. Thanks for the tips.
I agree! We need a knitted Freja and her knitted moose friend Loki!!!🐩
I would like a knitted moose also ;-)
When I first started watching Arne and Carlos and they said there was a moose every time Freja barked I thought they were serious. I was a bit concerned for them, thinking they're overrun with moose! Seemed dangerous!
I too would love to learn how you deal with knitted holes. Also, do you ever double the sock thread where you would normally wear a hole? I started doing this in the heel on about 15 pair of sock ago and have never had a hole since. I love your podcasts. If I have a stressful day I will have an Arne and Carlos marathon and It always make me feel happy. Thank you for sharing your time, talents with us. You're special.
Very helpful......you are correct......some of us are newer. Knitters and sometimes self taught so we need these basic tips!
You are welcome!
I have been learning so much from you! Thank you! I'd love to know some simple things like picking up dropped stitches, dealing with little holes where there shouldn't be holes, keeping an even tension. Also this has nothing to do with knitting but I'd love to see more of where you live. Your home, your community, local yarn shops, the moose! I live in the suburbs of Detroit. All I could show you is cars...lol
The home stretch of knitting. Happy Sunday Arne and Carlos.
what about weaving ends on double sided articles like shawls?
Hi guys 🤗 I would love to see another tutorial on increasing. The other one Arnes finger was in the way and I couldn't see what stitch he picked up.I normally do kfb.Hi Freya🐾🐾.thanks and hugs from Milwaukee.
Thanks for uploading! I would love to see how you would deal with holes in knitting. Apologies if you've done this before.
Lovely hat and I like the way that you weave in your ends. Thanks.
Very timely! I just finished a pair of socks and wanted a better way to weave my ends in! Thanks!
Also, would you consider a segment on reinforcing the heel/toe areas after the sock is knitted. I use the short row method for the heels/toes and prefer reinforcing the completed sock at the end. And could you address the type of thread options to reinforce those areas. I knit with a merino/nylon blend.
Hi there..long time ago i go to Norway . I so happy and wish i can go there again in my life. I love your video and watch before sleep. ( mamsy in bangkok thailand)
Thank you!
Learned something new again 😁. Love binge watching
Brilliant! Arne, you are a great teacher. I’m so glad you two are sharing the jobs.
Thanks so much. I just finished a colorwork sweater yesterday so this was perfect!
Enjoyed watching. Thanks again. Have a joyful day!
A&C Happy Day for Norway🇳🇴and thank you for showing weaving the ends👍
Glad to see you both well
Wow. 45 years of knitting and I only just now find this excellent weaving in method. Thanks so much. Love you two and all you do. ❤️🍀🌹🌿❤️🍀🌹🌿❤️🍀🌹🌿❤️🍀🌹🌿
You are welcome and thank you for watching.
Adoro sus labores , recomendaciones. Gracias.
Brilliant tutorial...thank you, Arne!
Hi Arne&Carlos,
Thank you Arne for showing us how to weave your ends in😀.
Hope you both are enjoying your rest😎
See you next time
KimXX
Thank you. I hope you are well rested and enjoying life.
We are, thank you!
I've just started to crochet and would like to know how to weave in the ends. Also any advice on finishing a piece of crochet work, do you steam in the same way as for knitted garments. Love your podcasts, kept me entertained during our lock-down. Would also love to see more of your summer garden, especially as we're just heading into winter in this part of the world.
Thank you....I live in Canada and my family came from Norway...I was taught Norwegian knitting as a small child...I love your utubes...I have picked up lots of great ideas🇨🇦😀
Thank you Donna!
Hello Arne and Carlos so good to see you both Carlos it is so nice to see you looking so much better continue to enjoy our time off and Thank you for another great tip, I do love the hat pattern just off to buy it now take care both of you and enjoy the rest of your Sunday XX
Meg Jamieson Thanks for your comment. This video was recorded in January, before the Cotona virus.
@@ARNECARLOS I aplogise thank you for correcting me X
Just finished knitting the Sveinung hat. My first stranded colorwork project. It's awesome and was a joy to knit. ☺️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hello ArneCarlos
Another beautiful sunny day in the uk. I am praying for a little rain. So quiet in the neighborhood especially in the traffic sense. Can't hear no police sirens even. I live in a town so it is strange for it to be so peaceful. We have clap for carers at 8.00 pm every thursday and thats the most noise i hear all week! We could be living in the mountains like yourselves but without the moose.
Love the tip. Thank you. Keep well.
So helpful! Love you guys and watch all of your episodes.
Thank you!
I just finished knitting a beanie, but did not watch your video before doing so, and weaved it in a straight line and it does not look good. I will undo it and redo it. Perfect technique. Thank you, dear.
You are welcome!
Yes, dealing with knitted holes would be a great tutorial. (I proudly have my flag out celebrating syttende mai. Hope you have had a grand holiday!)
Thank you!
Great tip..go diagonal..I too would like to see what you do with knitted holes
Thank you! All these years of weaving in ends and diagonal never occurred to me. Thank you! It is so good to see healthy Arne and Carlos! Being an old hippie, I did love the covid hair look though. 😊 I am in Alaska and deal with real moose a lot.
Hi Barbara, thank you for watching and watch out for the moose.
Thank you for the tutorial ... hope you had a great Sunday.
You are welcome!
Thanks so much!!! Your very first stitch was an eye-opener and a blessing to me. Added to that the “going through the yarn” bit made this a fabulous tip. Thanks so much for your help.
Pattie (who moved from Vermont to South Carolina where there are few yarn shops except yucky yarn and not much need for beautiful wool garments. I hope to figure something out....Maybe your toys?)
Thanks again. Just love your podcasts. So helpful and fun.
This was a very useful video - I’m going to change how I sew in ends. Thank you and I hope you are recovering well and getting some sunshine ☀️
Thank you, we are!
This to me looks the best way , Thanks.
Thank you for this tutorial. I was taught to follow the direction of the bars On the wrong side of the work to weave in my ends. I'm going to try this way to see if I like it better. It appears to be faster and you can zigzag with longer strands and not have as much bulk in a row. Also, I would love to see a video of Freya barking at the elusive moose.
Great tips. Thank you for sharing🧶🧶🇨🇦
Super clear. Thanks. Since o found your channel I watch every video and learn a lot. Greetings from Costa Rica
You are welcome and welcome to our channel Natalia!
Thank you! I appreciate learning this! 😃
Thank you nice to see you. Hope you are doing better and look forward to seeing more shows from you. Found you during quarantine and really enjoyed your shows.
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this method! This is how I weave in the ends when I do peyote stitch with beads. It never occurred to me to use the same method in knitting!
You are welcome!
Have you ever used "Fray check" , a glue that's meant to hold the end. Not sure I like it, and boy!! Gotta make sure you want it there cause otherwise it's impossible to wash out!! (I love and appreciate you sooo much, such a pleasure for me to watch and listen while I knit. Danke!!)
Thank you that is helpful for lots of people
True!
On a side note, I think you should do a segment on your artwork. Whenever I watch your videos I am intrigued by what is hanging behind you. Lol
agree
For Sure! Please do
love the video, love sent to you both and your lovely dog.
Thank you!
Thank you for your tutorial. However, I just had to comment, "Yay! You both got haircuts!" You both look fantabulous! Arne, especially you, because your hair was all over the place, and now it looks wonderful!
This was recorded before the Covid19. Soon Arne and Carlos will be back with us "our time" because they are on sick leave/rest and relaxation time now.
I've been knitting for a little over 20 years now. I watch a ridiculous amount of videos from you two on things that I know how do, just to see how you do it.
We are glad that you are enjoying the vidoes!
Love you guys keep up the good work
Thank you!
Thx for the tips mr arne and carlos
You are welcome.
Thank you for this. It was very helpful!
You are welcome.
It's because of you guys that I started knitting again. I'm a crocheter and found knitting to be slow and awkward....until I started trying your Norwegian knitting....well my Polish version at least....lol. Thank you so much!❤
You are welcome and good that you are knitting again!
Thank you again!!! Just what I need to know at just the right time. Making first Fair Isle hat. A few episodes back you explained about putting sleeves onto bottom up sweaters. Would I also use 1/2 the body number stitches for set in sleeves? Hope both of you are well. Carlos get better, we want to see you well and soon!
You are welcome!
Thank you...Blessings
You are welcome!
Arne got a haircut! Looking good.
I love your channel
Thank you!
I am glad I did it the good way🥰👍
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing xx stay safe,
You are welcome!
Thanks you Dear Boys for a great tutorial. Weaving in ends is my least favourite part of knitting.
On a personal note, I'm loving those haircuts ❣️
Thank you!
Thanks so much for this instruction. I took your wonderful Norwegian Knitting class in St. Thomas this past November (the ice storm day) and I am currently knitting a slip stitch pattern using the Norwegian method you taught us. Is there a way to slip stitch with yarn in front? This is the only stitch (so far) that I am having trouble figuring out how to do the Norwegian way. I am wondering if maybe Norwegian patterns don’t use a slip stitch? Thank you for any help and for doing your wonderful podcasts! Sending lots of love and hoping Carlos feels better and better all the time ❤️
Arne I read the book you recommend There There{english} It was excellent. Thank you for the recommendation
Same here. It was a fantastic book!
🤸 Thank you! Great tutorial!.....Vicki
You are welcome!
Thank you for another excellent tutorial. I do hope you are getting better day by day! Would you recommend weaving in the ends on a garment that I want to steek? I´m using Shetland-yarn which is not slippery at all, but still I got mixed information on that topic. Happy Constitution Day!
Arne's method is great! I'm going to try it on my next color work project. Now I really want to know what Carlos' method is!!!
Glad you found it useful
Thanks
You are welcome!
For a future podcast I would like to suggest how to fix s dropped stitch in double knitting.
Love the podcasts. Thank you.
Thank you Lisa.
I love the hat !
Thank you!
Thank you.
In sock making, is there a way to adjust for a high instep? It seems no matter what I try...longer heel flap, extra gusset stitches...it still pulls across the top of my instep. Frustrating, as I like to put some patterns in my sock to make fit better, but it doesn't look right.
Thanks for any advice.
❤
Would love to see how you change colour yarns and then pick them up again, in your multi- colour projects!
Thank you Pea, we have quite a few tutorials on colour work. You can find them on our channel site.
I do the same thing good at least i with you there lol gorgeous hat i must be weird because i love darning in ends in a afghan i darn as i go have a great week guys
You as well!
Cool thanks🤗
You are welcome!
@@ARNECARLOS Hi Arne & Carlos I've nailed Norwegian knitting both knit & Purl, I don't do the cha-cha-cha💃💃💃 I do the figure 8 ⛸️⛸️ lol have a great day!
I wonder if you can weave the wool when you change colours the same way that you do when you trap the wool for colour work when you have many stitches with the same colour.
How about suggestions to weave in the ends on the flower blanket. I'm not sure where to weave in ends in the navy blue sections. I am really enjoying making the blanket. My first crochet project in 40 years. I was surprised to be able to pick it back up so quickly. Easy because of your pattern, thank you.
Thanks!!!! Can I use that technique also for sweaters?????
Yes!
Thank you. That was very helpful. Please show us a photo of a moose sometime!
Maybe, maybe.
Hello Guys!!! I have a question: How do you wash anything of 100% wool? Thank you so much for all the tutorials, specially on quarantine!!!
Hi Florenica, we have done a tutorial on this: ua-cam.com/video/kPDnAz0XlHg/v-deo.html
Great tips! What about weaving in ends on a two sided piece like a striped blanket? Thanks :)
Just make sure it looks neat.
I'd like to see how and where you change the colours of the Yard without making the looks or bars too loose or tight, Yes for a beginner , thanks.
Thanks, Arne & Carlos! Now making a hat with many colors doesn't look so scary or hard!
Nice tutorial. My only question: are you going UNDER the bars or THROUGH the yarn of the bars? I’ve seen it done both ways, but would like your opinion. Thanks!
Hi, maybe we will address this in a future tutorial.
❤❤❤
Yes, diagonal.
Arne,
Unrelated to this video but I was wondering: is the black lice sweater that you showed in your vintage collection video (you say you made it when younger) the same pattern as the lice sweater in your Norwegian Knits With a Twist? I like the color work in the yoke and wanted to know if I should purchase that book for the pattern.
Chloé from Walla Walla, Washington USA
No, it's not the same pattern.
💜
Thank you!
Is there a special way to do this when working with slipperier yarns? I just finished a sweater in Mercerized Cotton and I'm worrying about how to sew in the ends.
🕊❤️👍🏻Thank you. 🌺🌿
Happy Syttende Mai!
Arne and Carlos do you mind making a video on how to correctly use a tapestry needle
Maybe one day in the future.
