- The very popular Luxe Minipeak II tent has been available in the UK for some years now. Very popular with solo hikers, backpackers, wild campers and cycle tourers.
Now there's a new larger version the Minipeak XL, which will appeal to taller people who want more space or couples sharing. It also has the added feature of a built in stove jack if you are a winter camper with a wood stove.
The Minipeak XL is also ideal for cycle tourers or motor cycle tourers who want more space to store gear, or to possibly keep the bike inside the shelter for safety.
So what's the difference between them? This video will go through all the main features which make the Minipeak so popular and throw in a couple of camping tips along the way which will make your life easy.
Just ordered the XL with a stove! Thx!!
Great video! I have the minipeak XL....a fantastic tent !
Man this waa a great video because I am definitely looking at the XL for an upgrade for my shelter. Awesome job
The Bearded GOrilla No problems. Glad it was some use to you. Both great shelters.
Excellent practical review.
Great video. Love my minipeak II , the only issue I got is that it would be much more versatile if the inner could be pitch both directions so it still would be possible to use both doors while the inner is erected.
XL for me every time! I love it and the ability to use a Fastfold Titanium Stove with it makes it a joy in the autumn and winter. I don't hike these days (old mans knees!) but I canoe camp and truck camp with my pick up and it is ideal for that. This is a good comparison of the two and I had not thought about using it with a bike...I have a folding bike which might be just the ticket for some extra fun!
Totally agree! Nice one
I currently have a 4man gelert tipi and a Kelty tactical 2man tent both great but really fancy the xl for my winter camping instead of my gelert as lighter and stove access
Wry nice review. Thank you.
Glad you liked it, thanks
Great video! What's the segment lenght of the 163 pole? Thanks
Great review. And i just wondering where can I get one of those adapters that linking two trekking poles?
Thank you
backpackinglight.co.uk has a whole range
Great video. Myself and a friend are wanting to buy a couple of Luxe tents from backpacking light. I'm 5"10 and he's 6 foot. I've heard the inner in the Minipeak II is too small for anyone over 5"10 and the Hexpeak V4a is just big enough for 6 footers. Based on your personal experience, what would you say is the max height for the Minipeak with a inflatable mat and a decent sleeping bag? Thanks.
I’m 6’ even. No issues
Hi, thanks for the video. Can anyone tell me, on the XL. Can the interview be clipped into any side? I've seen some videos where it looks like people have it on different sides but not seen it listed as 2 sides..4 sides etc. Thanks in advance.
No it can only go on one side on the standard Mini Peak and either side in the XL.
Low profile? The XL is as tall as he is! Would it stand up in heavy winds? I love that little cot bed, but it looks like you'd touch the ground if you lay on it, anyone used one?
Great video, thanks.
Where to buy?
In UK? backpackinglight.co.uk
As what i comment on the other video, i prefer minipeak for all series but unfortunately there is no floorsheet/footprint sewing in one the tent to prevent bugs/spiders/scorpion/snake/etc and to make inner keep clean n dri
Aji Mohamad Rantau Theres nothing stopping you sewing one in yourself? Find a seamstress to help.
Can you add a stove jack port thing for the 2? Or is it only for the xl?
The stove jacks come fitted in the XL as standard which is also coated in fire retardent. However the normal Mini-Peak has neither. It is possible to buy the stove jack individually and install it yourself at your own risk (UK). The US retailer Luxe Hiking Gear splits boxes and customises them for people but it negates the manufacturers warranty.
@@TheOutdoorsStation thank you!
Total weight of inner tent and outer together 2.1 kg????
roger surez And add the weight of the pole. Every review about this kind of tents never add the weight of the pole.
@@DieTabbi exactly!! What's the TOTAL combined weight
Appreciate the video but beware this Luxe company has shut off all comments on social media and isn’t fulfilling orders, returning emails or answering calls. Super disappointing, buyer beware
Once again I need to remind US based customers this is all down to the US retailer (who isn’t the manufacturer) and does NOT apply to any of the other retailers based around the World, Uk or Europe. Therefore please do not tar the Luxe brand with a bad name. The US retailer has caused his own problems which do not effect any other territory.
